Donât say the shooterâs name.
The dude who shot up two mosques in Christchurch New Zealand did so for two reasons: because he is a racist fucker, and because he wants to be a famous shooter. So donât give him that. Donât say his name, donât share his face. Let him be a nameless, faceless nobody. Share the names of those he killed â remember them. But make the shooter as unknown as possible. He doesnât deserve to have his name known.
It lowkey bothers me people donât know ezra miller and elly jackson (la roux) and angel haze are nb. I think it bothers me bc i secretly know thereâs never gonna be a way to present in public that people just instinctively understand you arent a binary gender. They have to look it up. You have to speak up about it constantly. People are always gonna see you as a gender you arenât until proven otherwise and thereâs nothing you can ever do to change that
And when you inform people of famous peopleâs nb status, they kinda treat it like a new and fun fact that doesnt matter much to them, that they couldnât have possibly known before, and that they could have gotten on perfectly fine without knowing. and you just have to keep telling new people all the time, and it just hurts to realize you have to keep giving up this fun little useless trivia fact and informing them over and over again, something other people see as so unimportant and maybe a little annoying to be informed of, like youâre telling them george lucasâ wife edited his films until she divorced him or gene roddenberry wouldnât allow zippers on any clothes in star trek because he thought we would have evolved past them by then, and you just come off as know-it-all asshole, but youre just so goddamned tired of people not knowing, of them erasing you, and not even caring about it all that much

Iâm just super fucking bitter that once the flint water crisis got itâs 15 minutes of fame people stopped giving a shit. The water is still poisoned, people! Donations have plummeted and people have been forced back into drinking and bathing with the water! The medical effects of this are astounding, cases of legionnaires disease have skyrocketed, people are having seizures, people are having weird rashes break out over their body, people (including me!) are having their blood poisoned, and itâs not just lead! itâs coliform bacteria! itâs THMs! itâs all in the water and it gets into the bloodstream and breaks down blood vessels, causing bruising and petechiae and internal bleeding and no one gives a shit anymore and itâs only gotten worse like how many people are going to have to die until people realize this is still a problem
I would like to add that the people of Flint cannot sell their houses, because selling a house with leaded water is illegal. Additionally, households with children canât stop paying for the water because living in a house without running water is cause for CPS to take their kids. Flint has been living this way for over two years.Â
The people of Flint are trapped by the legal system. And it is only the most high profile case out many cities with a similar problem.Â
Because the government has abandoned them, they are dependant on help from the outside. Donate here

Not to mention the fact that Mrs. White isnât qualified to teach. She should be required to take a remedial English course. âI have wentâ? please. Itâs âI have goneâ, Mrs. White.Â
first, my kid would not sign anything without me seeing it first. 2nd, upon seeing it i would be at the superintendantâs office the next morning. then we would speak to the teacher. black folk gotta nip it in the bud.
Dont let your children be controlled like this. I remember back when I was in school my mom always told me âif you really need to use the bathroom or attend to an emergency and the teacher wonât let you, then just leave the classroom and Iâll deal with teacher and principleâ
Mom had my back
If I was this kid I would use up those passes and then just fuckinâ throw up or get a severe nosebleed in the classroom and then refuse to leave because âsorry, I canât go to the nurse, I already used up my two passes for the fucking MONTHâ
There was a student at my high school, who we will call John Doe, who actually did that. When teachers gave him a limited number of bathroom allowances (usually 3 per semester, which was the standard at my school), he would use them in the first week, and then induce vomitting my eating rotten food he found around the school garbage cans. If teachers refused to let him go, he would just throw up on something they had to touch. Light switches, keyboards, whatever was available.
Instead of making admin do anything about this toxic policy, they just doubled down harder, to the extent that one girl politely informed a teacher that she felt like she might be about to have a seizure and could she go to the nurse, please. She was denied, sat back down at her desk, and promptly passed out and concussed herself on the concrete floor when she fell.Â
Another girl had severe vertigo-induced fainting, could not get a teacher to excuse her from a phys ed class, and fell off a monkey bars and split her head open, and nearly lost an eye because her glasses broke when she landed.
A student with, I believe, diabetes had a severe blood sugar drop and tried to eat a candy bar in a class with a âno food or drinksâ rule. The candy bar was taken away, and she had to be taken out by EMTs.Â
This kind of human rights abuse in public schools is not new. I graduated a full decade ago.Â
Iâm glad itâs being publically discussed again, (briefly around 2003-2005 this was also a popular subject of discussion). I hope that this time, concrete changes in policy are actually affected.

I think its super important to be nice to younger/less popular/less experienced artists. When i was starting out at art there were times when I felt so bad about my art but then Iâd get an ask like âyour art is cuteâ or âI love the colors you used in X peiceâ and it really kept me going yknow? sometimes you should go out of your way to to tell younger artists you like their art because it might be something they really need to hear. Idk
REALLY wish that super hero movies/shows would like, go back to using secret identities as an actual thing instead of either just not having them or have them only be there in the most bare minimum hand wavy way they can
Like okay Spiderverse actually did the whole secret ident thing really well (just like most everything) but in particular I would kill to have more scenes like this in some modern stuff
This made me so fucking angry I have to inflict it on all of you.
whatâs the punchline here

Layout Background Exercise
For Gobelinsâ entering contest, one of the request is background skills, and the ability, with a pen, to visualize yourself in a 3D space.
So I gaved myself an exercice than can be similar to what you can have during the contest, and which are the steps Iâm going through :
Here is a background concept done by Armand Serrano, for the movie Lilo and Stitch.
Letâs put the following consign : try to draw the âagainst fieldâ of this place (it mean, as in cinema, shooting in the opposite direction to another shot)
For this, we must be aware to : - Place our virtual camera correctly - respect perspective rules -placing correctly our objects in the space (what does make the âlinkâ between the two shots) - Keep a cool composition -respect the design -use our imagination to field the empty space
So, letâs do this !
1. Making a Map and a good thumbnail
-Itâs a good exercise to try put everything in a map, including the camera (CAM1) and visualize what we know and what we have to imagine ; not very easy, but itâs making win a lot of time for after !
- Then I just had to place the other camera (CAM2) on the other side, and begin to think about what would be in the room on the other side.
- When I did the map, I was working in the same time with a thumbnail of my scene (note : thumbnail is a very small drawing. Good to remember : small drawings for big ideas ! ) ; like this I could think about having a cool composition and match with the background in the same time. Thatâs why (as you might see) I decided to tilt a bit my CAM2, because I felt it more interesting for the composition.
2. Ruff drawing
- So here begin the interesting part :) itâs importent to begin by placing the horizon line, the vanishing points (in this case, two) and a perspective grid, all of this being sure itâs mathching with your thumbnail.
-Then, I built every objects, being sure itâs on the perspective, and puting all my ideas.
note : I was always thinking : this is a place where people are living, we have to FEEL It. Itâs passing by using the props and the randomness of their position to suggest this idea.
3. Line Up
- On this part I was always trying to be careful about keeping the style of the artist, about props design, and the way of working the line.
4. (Bonus) Shadows
- Personnaly, I wanted to try making she shadows on a traditionnal way, as they where doing before at Disney. For this I first scanned my drawing (to have a backup in case), then I used carbon powder, I was putting stronger at some places, using an eraser to have my lights, and my pencil to go into the detail in the lighting.
-Itâs important, when doing lighting, to know where the light come from, and what you want to show. Contrast is the master word ; with the light and shadow, you can choose to show more one thing than an other (for example, I chosen to show less the left part, and put on the light the right part)
My drawing could be better, about the choice of props and the angle, but I hope this tutorial helped you to see better the process to draw an âagainst fieldâ from an existing layout, hope you enjoyed :)
Be free to comment, cheers !
Perspective is hard to master, but important for everything. This really is a fundamental concept that you should attempt to master as soon as possible!

do u ever remember all the horrible offensve things u said when u were like 15 and u literally feel ur soul detach and turn 2 dustÂ
your fave is problematic: yourself
Basically, yeah. Thatâs kind of the point â you always have to look back on yourself and be mortified and resolve to be better. Shit, the stuff I said just five YEARS ago (and Iâm almost 33) makes me cringe like a motherfucker. Burn in mortification. Rise from the ashes and be better. Lather, rinse, repeat for the rest of your life.
This is why purity culture doesnât work!!! Weâre all shit! We can all grow and do better!

Not a single lie in sightâŚâŚ
Hello, college grad that actually wrote an award winning paper on this topic! Hereâs some knowledge Iâd like to share: Thereâs actually been studies as to why itâs usually white kids, a large conclusion amongst the criminology community is that those that often have more privileged lives (white kids in our societyâs case) are less adept to dealing with stress and denial. Whereas minorities and others are more likely to cope and function normally despite stressors because of the constant stressors that come from systematic racism and/or other platforms of more limited priviledge.
TL;DR: Itâs usually a white kid because their privilege incacipated their ability to learn how to handle stress/ denial/ whatever without acting out. The less privileged are done used to the bs and thus typically dont turn to extreme measures as coping mechanisms.

The majority of shooters are white, male, and have a history of violence against women. We cannot ignore gender when discussing this issue.

Wait, waitâŚ. Is that seriously it? How their clothes go?
that genuinely is it
yeah hey whats up bout to put some fucking giant sheets on my body
When youâre carding, spinning and weaving everything from scratch, using the big squares exactly as they come off the loom must seem like a fucking brilliant idea. 90% (or more) of pre-14th century clothing is made purely on squares (and sometimes triangles cut from squares).Â
How did they get the fabric so fine it draped like that? Was that something medieval europe forgot? Or do I just have a completely misguided image of historical clothing?
Medieval Europe also had incredibly fine weaves, though the ancient world tended to have them beat. Linen was found in Egypt woven with a fineness that weâre still trying to replicate, and there was a kind of cotton woven in India called âwoven windâ that was supposedly still translucent at eight layers, and wool shawls so fine that the entire thing could be drawn through a wedding ring.Â
The way they could get away with pinking and slashing doublets in the 16th century was partially because the fabrics were so tightly woven that you could simply cut a line on the bias and nothing would fray.Â
Modern fabric machining sucks ass in terms of giving us any kind of quality like the kind human beings produced prior to the Industrial Revolution.Â
*yells about textile history*
Reblogging because itâs fascinating.
The Celts made very fine clothing as well. They invented plaid after all, and the same weaves that have been found at the La Tene/Halstatt salt mines in Austria were also found as far away as western China in the tombs of the Tarim mummies.
Can we talk about 18th century and regency era muslin as well because that shit is gorgeous. Itâs so fine itâs more transparent than silk chiffon and oh the tiny hems you can make with it!! I have an 18th century neckerchief and the hem is about 2mm wide. Not kidding, 2mm!!! Because it didnât fray like our stuff does now. All we can produce nowadays is a rough, scratchy, bullshit excuse for muslin and itâs horrid.
I love this because weâve gotten so blind to what makes âgoodâ fabric now - machine lace? horrible scratchy shit mostly made from poly. Actual lace is handmade, lasts for fucking EVER and looks stunning.Â
Regency gowns fucking rocked in terms of fabric quality - we use muslin as a âthrow awayâ before sewing the real fabric, back then it WAS a real fabric and it was so finely made you wouldnât even think it was the same stuff.Â
Hand hemming is still the best way to finish off anything, but harder than hell because of the shitty weave of modern fabrics.Â
Satin? Silks?!
Pah. Yes, fabric is cheaper, more affordable and varied than before, but it is an area where QUALITY was sacrificed for QUANTITY.Â
(I donât want to seem like Iâm shitting on how great we have it now for clothes and martials or anything, because YAY!! but also, Iâd love to get my mits on a bolt of real Muslin)Â
archaeologists recently found some Bronze Age fabric woven on site and preserved in marsh in England. itâs fine to die for. they were exporting it and trading into Asia.
