My grandma’s on and off again boyfriend that she cheated on grandpa with died today.

My great grandma got forced into marrying a soldier and she cheated on him while he was a POW. We only found that out recently when my grandma told us about her mother's "friend" who would come by frequently and gift her and her siblings toys or candy to get them to go outside.

My grandparents got married in secret when they were still in high school but each continued to live with their parents without telling anyone for something like two years until my grandfather joined the army and got his duty station and then grandma was like, “oh btw, family, I’m married to this boy you didn’t even know about and I’ve got to go with him to Texas now, bye!” And peaced out of Alabama. My great-grandmother:

Had a sweetheart who she lost touch with during the war

Turned the family home into a convalescent home and married one of the soldiers she met there.

Years later ran into original sweetheart. Were still deeply in love. I think he was a widower by then.

Had to hire a prostitute for her husband to be caught going to a motel with so they could get a divorce and she could marry sweetheart

After he died she had a series of 6 or so marriages to older men, with the understanding that she would take care of them in exchange for a certain lifestyle, and not touch whatever inheritance they intended for their children.
