Something that I've learned recently is how truly homophobic people are. The smallest hint of queerness in media is immediately shutdown by angry parents, severe christians, or just regular everyday homophobic people. The amount of straight representation compared to queer representation is insane. 1 queer individual could be indroduced into a show, and now people throw a fit and claim "The gays are taking over and shoving their agenda down our throats" when for the past hundreds of years, the media has been predominantly filled with hetero relationships, and it still is. If you choose to click on a random show on netflix and watch it, there will most likely be only hetero characters. There's a chance you might get a queer character or two, but that is very slim unless the show has been labeled as a queer show. I've just found it interesting at how people react to things like this, and then claim that they are the ones being put down for existing/talking about their beliefs.

Mike just quietly understanding that he was Will's crush and presumably also that the painting was from Will.

Great writing. First-class. Unmatched. It also came across very well on screen.

Not that the tower scene was even satisfying, but can you imagine if we didn't even get that and their entire story together ended with this?

Implied confession and assumed rejection? They never speak of it because it would make Mike uncomfortable? Will is expected to mind what he says in the future so Mike doesn't think Will still likes him?

The fact that they planned to end it without them even having a single conversation after Will's coming out (apart from Will once again acting as Mike's personal relationship counselor in the Abyss) really shows how much the duffers disliked byler and the attention it got. The choice to have Mike be the last one to stand up and support Will also speaks volumes.

It's still weird that Mike picking up on Will's "crush" was even in the script since they didn't seem to have any intention on bringing it up in the show. They could have had it mentioned in the tower scene but it wasn't. That's why I always assumed that Mike didn't pick up on it, because it would have been insane for him not to mention it and give it some sort of resolution. But apparently his "apology" included not picking up on Will's feelings for him, it just didn't come across that way. Just like any of the writing for s5 didn't come across as the duffers probably intended.

What kind of screenwriter introduces a multi-season plotline that is consistently developed as though it would have some big payoff in the end… only to completely abandon it without any resolution whatsoever? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don’t think people truly understand the scope of the damage Sony is about to do to physical media. They literally invented the compact disc. They are the reason why Blu-ray as a format won the HD wars over HD-DVD. They have gargantuan influence over manufacturing disc-based media. If Sony as a company stops making physical media for their next gen gaming consoles, this is going to affect movies and music as well. If you buy CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays, those are next on the chopping block.

listening to CDs in the kitchen i always brace myself for the ad between songs but then it just keeps rolling. skipping around how i like without interruption feels heavenly. we're in such a commercial angst prison that books and CDs are luxury now 😭
