Yknow the lil fanfic trope where a character, usually non-human, purrs like a cat. In this case it would obviously be Rocky but what if it was Grace instead hear me out-
Queer refugees in East Africa are living at the intersection of multiple forms of vulnerability fleeing violence at home, only to face new risks in displacement.
Across the region, many LGBTQ+ people are forced to leave their countries because of criminalization, persecution, and threats to their lives. In some places, same-sex relationships are still punishable by severe penalties, even death.
For those who reach countries like Kenya or Uganda, safety is not guaranteed. Refugee camps such as Kakuma have seen reports of discrimination, attacks, and tensions affecting LGBTQ+ residents, even as humanitarian agencies try to improve protection.
Recent years have also seen more people fleeing harsh laws like Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act pushing queer individuals to seek asylum across borders, often into already strained systems.
Beyond physical safety, queer refugees face isolation, lack of healthcare, limited legal protection, and mental health challenges shaped by both displacement and identity-based trauma.
And yet, across East Africa, queer refugee communities continue to organize, support each other, and demand dignity, visibility, and rights.
Queer refugees are not just statistics they are people seeking the same thing anyone would: safety, belonging, and the freedom to live openly.
🏳️🌈 Their stories matter. Their safety matters. Their rights matter.
(A post from a queer Sudanian refugee who can't set up a fundraiser in his own country.)
We are approaching the 3rd year mark of the accelerated genocide. The settler colony is inflicting famine and violence against the Palestinians to this day. In fact, as I write this sentence, Al Jazeera reports the following: "['Israeli'] forces have killed 12 Palestinians, including six police officers, in multiple attacks across Gaza. Despite a six-month long ceasefire, ['Israeli'] forces are committing daily violations that have killed almost 1,000 people".
How much longer can this go on?
Enough is enough. Keep talking about Palestine. Boycott, donate and protest! Please consider helping my friend, Suad (@stillwritingtoday). She is a computer engineer from North Ghazzah and she is a mother to an 1 year old child who is ill with allergies and infections. Suad is caring for older relatives, such as her in-laws and her grandparents! She needs to purchase medicine, clothing, food, fuel, supplies, and other essentials!
Her fundraiser is #279 in the vetted fundraisers' spreadsheet by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi. @/nabulsi has written posts for Suad, with the latest update here.

“I don’t like this expression “First World problems.” It is false and it is condescending. Yes, Nigerians struggle with floods or infant mortality. But these same Nigerians also deal with mundane and seemingly luxurious hassles. Connectivity issues on your BlackBerry, cost of car repair, how to sync your iPad, what brand of noodles to buy: Third World problems. All the silly stuff of life doesn’t disappear just because you’re black and live in a poorer country. People in the richer nations need a more robust sense of the lives being lived in the darker nations. Here’s a First World problem: the inability to see that others are as fully complex and as keen on technology and pleasure as you are.”

OpenGateLabs is shutting down unfortunately. They're clearing out stock, so if you need estradiol vials for cheap (upto 50 dollars off for some), now is probably the time before they close up
They're also selling progesterone from $10-30 off and estradiol dermal sprays at $40 off right now
"What if we find a way to keep fetuses alive outside the womb" that already exists, it's called the NICU and it took decades of advancements in medical science and technology. it takes an entire team equipped with state of the art technology to keep a fetus alive outside the womb. because it cannot perform basic life-supporting functions like breathing on its own. this isn't an anti-NICU post tbc. I'm actually considering the nicu as an option after going back to school because I really like fetuses and babies, I think they're neat. but the fact remains that it takes an entire team of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and more to keep a micropreemie alive. and most abortions occur even before the point that it becomes possible at all. "viable" doesn't mean ready to be born. it means it is possible to keep it alive thanks to medical science developed by the same "abortionists" whose executions you're always calling for.
also, it's not an "after birth abortion" when they "let" micropreemies die, it's fucking hospice care.
absolutely. and to add onto this, i was a nicu baby, and i was a late term abortion. when i was still in the womb i was dying inside my mother, so they had to induce her extremely prematurely to save our lives. there was a very high chance of me dying because they took me outside of the womb before they knew if i could survive on my own, but the chances of me and my mother dying if i stayed inside her were 100%.
the procedure to remove me is medically and legally a late term abortion. i was aborted, and it saved my life. if they hadn’t aborted me, my mother and i would both be dead, my siblings would have been left with a dead mother, and i would have never even gotten a chance to live a single day. and now, people are being denied this procedure and dying because it’s literally an abortion!! mothers and their babies are being killed because their doctors are not allowed to perform life-saving abortions.
on the same note, my sister was recently denied an abortion. which is to say, cleaning out the already dead fetus after she had a miscarriage from a wanted pregnancy. they refused treatment unless the DEAD fetus was actively killing her, because the procedure to remove it is medically and legally an abortion. they basically said to her “come back when you’re dying of an infection or sepsis or something, until then you just have to bleed out.” my sister could have died from this, people HAVE died from being denied abortions after having a miscarriage. if she was one of these people, my sister would have been dead, my mother would have to live the rest of her life without her daughter, and my nephew would have had to live the rest of his life without a mother.
sick and tired of people saying to me “yeah, but that’s different. you can’t really call those procedures an abortion, they’re not really an abortion.” yes it is. it’s an abortion. any procedure that entails unnaturally removing a fetus and/or baby from the womb before they’re sure it can survive outside of it is an abortion. if it wasn’t, people wouldn’t be being told that, sorry! we can’t do that! you’ll have to come back when you’re already dead. i was aborted, my mother had an abortion when she was pregnant with me, my sister needed an abortion after she had a miscarriage. all of these things are ABORTIONS! and now mothers and babies are being killed, murdered by these anti-abortionist fuckers and the laws they put in place to “save and protect poor, innocent lives!”
trans women's breasts are real breasts by the way
breast development seems to be the only thing that anyone even knows our HRT does, and even then they don't seem to process that they are... you know, breasts?
I'm reminded of the trans woman who protested the state's refusal to change her gender marker by taking off her top and being arrested for it. our breasts are as real or as fake as they need them to be to harm us. whichever is most rhetorically convenient in the given moment
Hearing news from friends and seeing a bunch of posts on r/transDIY and Twitter that Florida is currently seizing DIY shipments and people are getting calls from the police. Heard this both from people getting Estrogen, Progesterone, and T-blockers and people getting testosterone. If you are wondering why some sources stopped shipping to Florida that is why. If you are doing DIY in Florida be careful.
This is a sincere genuine for-real offer.
If you are DIY in Florida and maybe need to work something out with someone in Georgia manageably close to the Florida border, message me.

Reasons Why Fans of Color Leave/Don’t Interact with Fandom
Casual racism that is brushed off as “an innocent mistake” or “they didn’t mean it” and then everyone pretending like it didn’t happen and moving on with their day (repeat)
Speaking over fans of color about issues that pertain to them specifically
When fans of color speak out about something that makes them uncomfortable or why that don’t interact with it (usually because of the racial/ethnic bias) they are accused of being anti’s or pro-censorship
Characters of color being used as scapegoats/bashed/plot devices
Characters of color never getting happy endings/real development
Backlash against characters of color if they do anything other than be a white character’s side kick/best friend
Actors of characters of color being harassed for something their character did or didn’t do
White characters/actors getting all the attention/credit despite the fact that they are a side character to a POC or on the same level as the POC
Fanfic authors patting themselves on the back for writing a “realistic” character of color and it’s just a bunch of stereotypes
Being told that they should be happy they were even included when they call out the above people
White fans crying about persecution/exclusion because their fav character/trope/kink/ship isn’t loved by all
Fan artists re-imaging characters of color as white/lightening skin tone
Everyone rushing to a white fans defense after a well deserved call out while the fan of color receives hate
Never having a safe fandom space and always having to be on guard with new people/fandoms/chats etc because they’ve been burned before
Feel free to add
- fetishization and depersonalization of characters of color (to serve the white character’s narrative)
- (re)writing characters of color as abusive and/or violent to infantilize white characters
- being asked to explain why ___ is racist when it’s been spoken about at length or could be googled
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
Heyyy guess where I live
A local paper had some great photographs, all taken by Nicole Hester:
The day before, Rep. Justin Pearson tries to attend a Senate Committee meeting and is barred access by the Sergeant at Arms.
Lawmakers and protesters link arms as the descend the capitol steps.
Once inside the chamber, Democratic representatives continued to stand together with arms linked.
They continued standing together with arms linked as votes were cast.
Democratic representatives take a group photo protesting the redistricting.
Rep. Justin Jones burns a photo of the Confederate flag with the words, We will not go back.
And stomps the ashes.
KeShaun Pearson being escorted from the building by the Staties.
KeShaun Pearson (left) being taken into custody. Rep. Justin Pearson (right) showing his support of his brother.
Additional information: State lawmakers have been gunning for Pearson and Jones nearly their entire terms. Most notably, in 2023, the House expelled them for participating in a protest at the Capitol. Their districts had to have special elections to have them reinstated.
Pearson is one of the plaintiffs of a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the redistricting.
The city most affected by the redistricting is Memphis, where locals are fighting against xAI's data center, which has been operating with very little oversight and is poisoning the people who live there. Here is a previous post on that with more information and more sources.
