@wolvsap
any tips on going wolfmode?
So i got a few iterations of this question... Its a tricky one! For me personally, i think its a result of years of work on myself. Work ive done on addressing and healing trauma, transitioning, steadily unmasking more and more from trauma and autism masking, and continually trying to deepen my relationship with my body and nature. I honestly wasnt able to fully tap into the wolfish states i wanted to for a while after i had discovered that was in me. There was just too much blocking me from actualizing and being free in those ways. BUT its something i wanted to feed more, so over the past few years i started doing more stuff consistently to tune into and get in touch with my body through yoga, meditation, hikes, barefoot walking, and sensation seeking. It was truly something i couldnt force, and ive just had to allow myself a lot of patience for the wolf in me to feel safe and trust me. Now that i have that relationship with myself, theres a lot of ways i can enable and channel that part of me! She will also just present herself unexpectedly a lot of the time too and its really nice.
ANYWAYS, some tips on stuff to try that i enjoy: -develop a yoga practice to get in touch with your body -meditate on what you feel in you, the shape of that, what it is and wants to be and why, whats blocking it or holding u back, etc -try out shadow work... -get outside! learn the names of the common plants and bugs around you, get ur paws in the dirt and use all your senses to engage with the world around you. it takes practice to start noticing stuff! -eviscerate fruit in the shower with reckless abandon -draw how you feel inside -listen to music that resonates with that part of you that you want to channel -find a space where u feel safe and private and try making the sounds that animal part of u wants to make. let it be awkward and silly! Judgement will just block and hold back that part of you! -let yourself play and have fun! Dont get frustrated if its not working or feeling like much the first few times, just keep at it. its trust building! (if you get deeper into this and its working for you, check out denny sargents book Werewolf Magick, its full of some fun stuff)
Firepaw and Bluestar practicing battle moves!! ((My commisions are open btw ;]] )

A strange day in the Late Cretaceous
took me some time but here’s the actual lore in my head ehhh my idea on the trigger is pretty basic however it was PROBABLY just a lycanwolf shadow bite lolol be careful next time! (There’s no next time)
Being a ranger I spend a lot of time alone in the wilderness for hours in the company of one of four co workers.
One such worker for the purpose of this post we shall refer to as Dave.
Dave is a very quiet man. He confesses that if conversation happens too quickly and for too long he gets tired so we often work in silence. He's very polite and good natured but it's obvious that he would happily live and work alone for the rest of his life given the option.
He's very much in the previous generation of ranger, a practical man in his fourties or fifties happy to be kept physically busy for a day and then be sent home with some pay. I had to show him how to use a work issued smart phone.
Meanwhile the rest of the team is made up of the current generation of rangers; openly nurodivergent queer women in their twenties or thirties who work this job because it's the only setting where we can vaguely look sane.
So Dave sticks out a bit. It's really nice when he opens up though because he's an impulsive individual when left to his own devices and has plenty of stories to tell if the mood takes him. I really like working with Dave.
Anyway, one day we've got a job that takes a three hour hike to get to and early on the topic of deer comes up.
I hadn't realised this was the first time we had discussed deer, but blatantly it was. Dave's entire demeanour changes, there's a bit of passion in his voice, but it's also hushed as if he's talking about something sacred.
"Deer are my favourite animal." He says.
I'm also eager to hear Dave talk about himself, so I encourage him to say more.
"I'd love to be a deer myself."
And more
"If a genie offered me the opportunity to become a deer I'd take it. I wouldn't even stop to ask what the price was."
And more
"Sometimes I feel like I'm a deer having a dream about being a human.*
And there I am, a long time commuter to the therian/otherkin community keeping up the encouraging face of someone being politely interested, knowing that this man is straight up a therian with no frame of reference.
And I decided that I wouldn't push the subject outside of the bounds of what Dave is comfortable with, I wouldn't try to teach him the terms "Therian" or "Otherkin" but absolutely I would talk with this man as if he's a deer.
And it's a bit magical really. He's an impulsive individual so I have to talk him out of some risky choices every so often and "this is why deer like you keep getting stuck in fences" has become this magical phrase that allows him to step down from a mistake with a bit of a smile on his face.
this is not a tutorial this is just me rambling
This also applies to the soles of the feet!
still hungry...
You can’t run forever Pomni..
This in-house adventure is 57 times more immersive (and dangerous only thanks to wererabbit Jax) with randomized untested character mechanics applied to everyone, good luck!!
Pomni got extra arms and a ribbon tail.
Jax got turned into a wererabbit and took full feral advantage of that.
Tadaa! Werebunny Scout
Plus silly doodles
This may or may not have anything to do with an upcoming AO3 project

It’s time for another October art challenge! As I’ve done for the last couple years, I’m sticking to black-and-white line art drawings, and this year, I’ve decided to do my own custom list of animals for Weretober, where instead of TFs, we just get to see how I’d turn creatures into anthropomorphic horrors. (Eh, maybe not all horrors, but I’m kind of in that mood lately. And you know I love my monsters!) And jackrabbits are, frankly, scarier to encounter in the wild than coyotes. They just… stare at you. 😨 A were-jackrabbit would be a lanky, scary-quick, and utterly badass creature. Expect new art all month! (I’m taking a few days off here and there; you can see my official list on my Bluesky.)
