Alexiaās feelings for Alfred
I hate so much how theyāve butchered Alfred and Alexiaās relationship in Darkside Chronicles. The unconditional love these two shared was the best part of the game. Seriously, if you think Alexia secretly hated Alfred, you havenāt played CV. In the infamous video where they torture a dragonfly and feed the ants with it, you can already see that there is some mutual affection between them. It isnāt one-sided. And if this isnāt enough to convince you, Alexiaās reaction to Alfredās death makes it obvious.
For context, in DC, Alfred survives moderately injured in his final confrontation with Claire and Steve. He wakes Alexia up, and then she kills Alfred because she is bored of him. He was a toy for her, and now he is no longer useful or entertaining. DC-Alexia is childish, megalomaniac, and purely evil. Thatās it.
In CV, Alfred barely survives his final confrontation with Claire and Steve. He is heavily injured and loses a lot of blood, but he still makes it to the room Alexia is in, and wakes her up shortly before his death. Witnessing her brother die makes her go fully berserk. Alexia sends her tentacles after Claire and Steve, who have already brought some distance between themselves and the Antarctica Base. In the meantime, Alexia holds Alfredās dead body in her arms and gently strokes his hair. He is already gone no need to pretend anything. Also, she sits there fully naked on the metal floor, her skin probably still wet from the liquid in the cryostasis tank. It must be freezing cold. Alexia doesnāt care about herself at this point. Everything that counts at this very moment is her brother. Later on, you can see her again. She is still sitting there, but now she is dressed up. I assume this is after she injected Steve with the virus. Let me get this straight. She was with Alfred for who knows how long, took a little break to take care of Steve and Claire, then returned to cradle his corpse in her arms and sing a lullaby for him while the warmth was leaving his body. How can you think she didnāt love him?
Afterward, Alexia places Alfredās corpse in the cryogenic freezer, probably to slow down or stop the decomposition. She does not accept his death, isnāt ready to say farewell forever. Likely, she wants to use the t-Veronica virus to revive him, if possible, without severe mutations or waiting 15 years. Thatās also the reason why she didnāt kill Steve and Claire immediately out of revenge. She needs someone to test it, but everyone else in the base is dead. Steve is male as well. Therefore, he probably will deliver better results, so she uses him first. Claire stays glued to the stairs, otherwise unharmed, as a backup.
The only time Alexia said anything remotely negative about Alfred is when she calls him an āinept but loyal soldier antā in one of the files, but this is situational. She wrote the text shortly before she went to her cryogenic sleep. At this time, Alfred was a more or less average 12-year-old kid and very clingy too. Her brother was simply way too young for the important and difficult task that lay ahead of him. However, she couldnāt trust anyone else with it. He has to keep her safe for 15 years. Having doubts that Alfred has the strength to do this is a legitimate concern. And yes, in another document, she wrote: āThe ecosystem of the ants seems truly ideal to me. There is one queen ant in each anthill, and the soldier and worker ants are the queenās slaves. They dedicate their lives to the queen. The death of the queen ant means the doom of the entire anthill. However, the soldier and worker ants can be easily replaced as long as the queen ant is alive. This is exactly the same relationship between myself and other ignorant masses.ā Things like this are easy to say when youāve never lost anyone who was dear to you. She may have thought so at the time of writing this, but her reaction to Alfredās death proves that she was mistaken. He is the only one she ever cared for. Billions of slaves cannot replace her twin brother, no one can.
Alexia is usually a very rational and calculating person, as you can see in the game. Despite her hatred for Claire and Steve, she hasnāt given in to the heat of the moment and killed them. Neither did she allow herself to cry once. Succumbing to sadness wonāt help. Crying has never saved anyone. The enemies surrounding her wonāt allow any signs of weakness either. She must stay strong and think rationally while the situation spirals increasingly out of her control. But you can see her emotions slip through occasionally. About to lose her brother forever, she goes through a emotional rollercoaster. Alexia isnāt as cold as you would expect after everything youāve learned about her. There is hatred toward Claire and Steve, who did this to Alfred. She tosses the snowmobile around in a rage, about to obliterate them. There is sadness when her brotherās lifeless body lies in her arms and the unwillingness to accept his fate. When Steve is about to kill Claire, Alexiaās tentacles hold her in place. She wants him to suffer, wants to afflict the same pain on him she is feeling right now. And before the final battle with Chris, Alexia starts one last attempt to make Claire pay for want she did. Also, Alexia giggles like a maniac in every dialogue. But imagine her situation: you wake up after 15 years just to see your brother dying, the base is partially destroyed, you have no idea what is going on, everyone is dead, zombies and BOWs everywhere, and youāre attacked by multiple enemies for unknown reasons. It wasnāt planned like this. She wanted a kingdom, not this post-apocalyptic nightmare. There is nothing unusual about people reacting with laughter as a response to a terrifying, traumatic, or surprising experiences. Itās too much to bear for her. Her laughter is likely an acute stress reaction, not a sign of madness.
Letās skip to the end of the game. After Chris activates the self-destruct system, Alexia rushes toward the control room. The whole place is about to explode. Why doesnāt she escape? Apparently, she only needs the t-Veronica virus for her world domination plans to succeed, and she has it in her blood. Losing her ants and the equipment would slow her down, not stop her. Alexia is patient, she waited 15 years and can wait a little longer.
Is she bent on revenge? Alexia has already proven that she can control her emotions, no need to take any risks. Attacking directly with less than 5 minutes left doesnāt seem to be a logical decision. If she wants to kill Chris and Claire, nothing is easier than this. She can destroy the jet, their only way to get away from Antarctica. They can still get out of the base, but with temperatures below 0 °C, a snowstorm raging, no vehicle, and without appropriate clothes, this equals a death sentence.
And why does she go after Chris, not Claire? Claire is responsible for Alfredās death. She should be the target. However, after this one attempted attack, Alexia lets her escape. Chris defeating her earlier in a fight was inconvenient, but she can regenerate, no problem. And Chris wasnāt even the one who started it. How can this be worse than killing her brother? Except for this, Chris hasnāt even done anything to her. Girl, just leave.
Also, have you ever noticed how passive Alexia is and that she has surprisingly little dialogue? The only time she actually engages in a fight is after Wesker enforces it. Otherwise, she says only a couple of sentences (usually threatens Chris), giggles manically, and disappears again. And when sheās confronting Chris and Claire for the last time, she doesnāt even say a single word, no elaborated villain monologue, no talk about how superior she is, how she wants to reform the world and turn all humans into her slaves, nothing. Sheās completely silent.
At this point, Alexia has already made up her mind. This is one final desperate attempt to stop the self-destruct system and save Alfred or die trying. She doesnāt want revenge right now, nor does she want to escape. World domination is suddenly not important anymore. The only thing she truly wants is to have her brother back. She must have realized how stupid her plan was, a childish delusion. And Alfred had to pay the price for her foolishness. All her powers werenāt worth it. She isnāt a queen ant, and Alfred wasnāt a soldier ant. She cannot live alone without him. Her powers, her intellect, nothing matters anymore if she canāt save him. She must stop the self-destruct system, otherwise, Alfred will be lost. To have a chance, Alexia needs a lab, the cryogenic freezer, and she canāt drag Alfredās body around in the frozen tundra for hours.
Alexia has tried to threaten Chris, tried to scare him away with Alexanderās remains, and hoped he would leave her alone after he got what he wanted (Claire). It didnāt work. Now she says nothing because there is nothing left to say. Every word would be a waste of time. Chris and Claire are her enemies. She canāt expect mercy from them, especially not after everything that happened. Alexia attacks Chris because he stands in her way and wonāt just go. Claire can wait. Alexia has decided that she doesnāt want to live in a world without her brother. The past hours gave her a glimpse of how empty her life would be. It ends here either she can save him now, or she joins him in death.
DC didnāt do her character justice. Alexia was misguided. She was never the plainly evil monster they tried to make of her. Deep down under her cold and calculating faƧade, she had a very caring side. During her last hours, Alexia must have been full of pain, guilt, despair, sorrow, fear, and regret. Her brother meant the world to her. Not only Alfred was ready to die for her, Alexia was ready to do the same for him.
I really love Code Veronica. love the atmosphere of this game, love OST, love the graphics, love the plot, love the characters and their dynamics. this game is amazing, it's one of my favorite RE-games. this game made me cry.
not only on the death of Steve (my poor boy), but also on the death of Alfred. it was very touching when he saw before his death how his beloved sister finally woke up, and Alexia stroked her brother's hair after his death. they are well-written villains with their tragic backstory and strong connection to each other. this makes them one of the best antagonists in the franchise (for some, the best). Alexia's infecting Steve was her act of revenge for Alfred.
I'd like a remake of this game if it's really good. Code Veronica is a very large-scale game and if Capcom takes it up, we all wish them good luck.
but personally, I would be very disappointed if they did it the way they did in Darkside Chronicles, where Alexia killed Alfred herself, because in the interpretation of this game (fortunately it did not become canon, the canon is still Code Veronica's version), she sharply absolutely does not care about her brother. they killed all the connection and tragedy of the Ashfords, making Alexia just an "evil villain." it was very lazy, but think Capcom just didn't want to bother too much with a "brief retelling of the story" (which was Darkside Chronicles).
the way the Ashfords were presented in Darkside Chronicles has received a lot of criticism from fans, so I'm thinking in a remake (if there is one) Capcom will follow the narrative of the original Code Veronica.
Caliente Makeover - Part 4: Don Lothario
Might have forgotten about him, whoops -
THE GOTH-LOTHARIOS
Cassandra is ready to start a family of her own, but can she tame the town Cassanova? And can Mortimer bounce back after the disappearance of his wife Bella?
Goth Scripted Events Complete! I wonder why Mortimer looks so worried?
through friction to the stars. (theory)
Even though Bella's disappearance turned out to be just a mistake by the developers, who were trying to find out if the character could exist in two towns at the same time, many players, for their own understanding of the story, try to explain it from the point of view of the plot, since this landmark incident did happen.
The canon version of Bella's disappearance was the abduction of UFOs, even if people had many other theories. It is obvious that Maxis always meant exactly the abduction of UFOs (memories of the abduction and "Bella" in Strangetown), even if some ignored these facts for theories that Mortimer burned the "unfaithful wife" in the fireplace or that Caliente Sisters with Don killed Bella in an inconspicuous Pleasantview's house.
Now, when other games directly tell us "Bella was abducted by UFOs," theories are being built about who exactly could be responsible for the abduction. Starting from the Caliente Sisters, who somehow miraculously connected with alien ancestors, ending with Mortimer, who could do it as a scientist (I myself stuck to this theory for a while because of some murky details in Mortimer's behavior throughout this story and what they marriage with Bella seems to have been like in recent days).
However, I have recently come to the obvious conclusion that it is actually quite lazy to look for the culprit "from the outside". Bella didn't need a "hot lover" in the person of Don, a "jealous husband" in the person of Mortimer, or a "treacherous gold digger" in the person of Dina.
This is not about the outcome of a doomed marriage between spouses, where Mortimer decided to get rid of his wife in this way. This is not about an "offended womanizer" who, offended by being rejected, decided to take revenge on this woman in this way. This is not about the "plan" of the "jealous" sisters (or one specific from them). It's about Bella and only Bella.
What If⦠The Sims 2 Was An Early 2000s Drama Movie?

A TAROT OF ICE AND FIRE

genuinely upsetting to see people hate on helena. yeah, re6 wasn't the best orchestrated game and was a little all over the place, but one of the most solid written characters (in my opinion) has to be helena.
"claire should've taken her place in re6!" don't get me wrong, i LOVE claire. it would've been interesting to see her and leon back as a duo, but in all honesty if you truly believe that everything helena contributed to the story claire could've done as well, you really don't understand helena as a character.
first and foremost, claire doesn't work for the dso. she's a terrasave member.
sure, that doesn't stop leon and claire from working together, but if claire was to take helena's place in re6 she would've been a hot mess, since that barely gives her any time to recover from rev2. the only way leon's campaign really works is because it mostly associates with the dso. helena and leon piggyback off each other since they work for the same organization and are targeting the same man.
keep in mind, the events of re6 happen 2012/2013 while the entirety of rev2 is wrapped up in 2011 timeline wise. claire was stranded on that island for six months, forced to repress most emotions. feeling any ounce of fear would mean she'd meet an instant death, that arguably being more traumatizing than raccoon city for her.
looping her into the mess of re6 would've just been cruel to do to her as a character.
secondly, the subtle parallels between younger/re2 leon and helena are very important to leon's campaign, as well as ada's. whether players notice them or not.
it should be pretty obvious considering one of helena's alternative outfits is a rpd uniform, despite her never actually being apart of it.
"deborah was a nothing character!" although she wasn't apart of the story for very long, her death resembles the events of re2 which is pretty important to ada and leon's development. helena again, representing younger/re2 leon.
i believe her character was very important to the story, mostly to ada and leon as they got to witness ada's fall that left leon traumatized for six years from an outside perspective.
the entire scene basically being a "remember this?" moment for fans who could catch on, especially given the fact ada and leon exchange glances.
after facing the similarities leon dealt with in 2, she can almost instantly charge through and deal with whatever is thrown her way without breaking down. similar yet somewhat different to leon in re2/r.
on numerous occasions, both said from players AND canon dialogue, it's mentioned how the outbreak is exactly like "raccoon city all over again."
and conveniently, the only three who weren't in the underwater base at the time and got to witness the outbreak were ada, leon and helena. sherry and jake captured, and chris and piers on their way to save them.
i believe the purpose of her character was to shine some light on the events of raccoon city and leon as a character himself and his earlier days.
they work extremely well together, and i truly hope to see her again in later games.
the most tragic thing is that after everything Ada went through with Luis, after everything they went through together, Ada did not have the opportunity not only to goodbye to him, but even to show her feelings about this loss (and this is certainly a loss). you know, because she should be chasing Krauser (and the inner anger with which she pronounces his name, trying to suppress it...), "the story of her life."
imagine, a person was killed in front of your eyes, whom you literally pulled out of the fire, who helped you cope with the parasite inside your body, to whom you gave motivation to keep trying, but you can't focus on this right now, because otherwise you won't to chasing his killer, who stole "Amber", and your "boss", like Albert Wesker, will definitely be not glad if you lost time.
"the most important to remain calm and collected, even in the most extreme situations" ā Ada, Umbrella Chronicles.
It's so... painful.
someone: I love Luis so much! and I hate that bitch Ada. I am waiting for DLS only for the sake of my Spanish boy, honestly this annoying Ada does not interest me at all.
Luis, who is in "Ada Wong's defense squad": Leave my group, please.
Luis's Stans who hate Ada, it's so weird lol.
These two will be a wonderful bromance in the DLC, Ada will save Luis' life, and Luis will help Ada. They will probably build a close relationship with the development, you know (probably more than it was with Leon in the remake). But these people still hate Ada because... because?
although they are both good people who have done not the best things in the past? Okay, okay. I think there is no logic in this and the existence of those Luis Stans who will hate Ada should be ignored as a given.
Ada Stans š¤ Luis Stans.
