A new Elsen fiddles with his locket around his neck, nervous to meet the director for the very first time. Damien wheezes a bit, before he knocks on the door. "... Hhh... Z-zone 3, Area 4 E-elsen ah... D-damien to v-visit..." He nervously says, cracking the door. @working-anxiety
Itâs a wonder the tiny frame of this visitor could cause that door to budge, Seeing how utterly âŠWell, Monolithic it is. It easily surpasses the height of ten, Unusually tall Elsens, Were they brave enough to stand upon each-other's shouldersâŠAnd itâs WELL past wide enough to fit twenty of them, Side by side. Not to mention, The door looks to be quite heavyâŠReinforced even. Yet it slowly creeps open with such ease, For you.
Clearly itâs been crafted by someone quite large, With smaller beings in mind.
âAh, Hello dear, Do come inâŠ
                 âŠWeâve been expecting you~â
A rich, Sickeningly sweet voice beckons from inside, Past the impressive thresholdâŠIt would probably be best for you to ignore how deep andâŠBIG it sounds. As well as the disconcerting rumble that accompanies it, And trails along behind each word. Perhaps itâs better that you canât see very far inside, Due to the lack of lighting. OrâŠLighting that isnât suspiciously dim, Anyway.
âŠFrom what your little eyes can tell, This âOfficeâ isâŠLudicrously huge. It would be easier to compare it to a cavern, Rather than somewhere you would work. You can hearâŠLiquid, Sloshing and lapping from somewhere inside that room. Lovely. One step inside that doorway, And lord, Your poor sensesâŠThe combination of the dark, The less than settling ambiance of the place, And now the smell? Potently sweet. Suspiciously sweet, Even.
Like someone tried to bury a body under piles of sugar, But that just wasnât enough. So they took that corpse and the sugar, And threw it into a vat of caramel. But they still werenât satisfied with that, And THEN the hypothetical murderer dumped that entire mixture into a lake of pure honey.
Your head swims just from taking a breath in hereâŠOddly enough, It doesnât feel bad. In fact, If you werenât petrified with fear and anxiety, It might be enjoyable. âŠKeyword, Might. If whatever the âDirectorâ is doesnât decide that you might make an interesting test-subject. Or snack.Â
Better be on your best behavior.
ââŠI take it this is your first time here, Yes?~â

Your smile noted, The Guardian gives a deep sort of purring chuckle, As if to say âSee? You had nothing to be scared of.â And now? It certainly feels more as if thatâs true. Heâs intimidating as all hell, SureâŠBut this IS the Zoneâs Director. This is the one who put the regulations in place, The one thatâs been trying to keep you and your fellow residents of Vesper safeâŠArguably, Heâs doing a pretty damn good job, Everything considered. Youâve heard how dangerous the world can be, Outside, Up on the surface. Down here, ItâsâŠSafe. Itâs home, To you and many others. When you first came here though, It wasâŠMore than unsettling. And some of that fear and unease still lingers, Prominently so in the deepest parts of Vesper.
But now, Youâve grown accustomed to the strange noises, The creatures and lost souls roaming aroundâŠCompared to the other zones, Thereâs usually much LESS conflict between the inhabitants, Despite their differences.
But thatâs not to say that accidents donât happen.Â
âŠSometimes, You wonder if certain things were accidents at all.
âHmmâŠNo, I donât think so.Â
Nothing that would require any extensive work on your part.
However, If your schedule allows itâŠâ
âIâd like a moment or two with you,                All formal business aside.â
Itâs true, Damien is starting to feel a little more at ease around the director. His anxiety is still there of course but the longer the loyal Elsen stays in this sweet smelling room, the more his anxiety is calming. At his words Damien nearly choked on his own spit, not expecting to hear that from his boss. The Guardian wants to⊠Spend time with HIM?! No work involved in it? Well thatâs very dangerous⊠He takes a step back in shock looking up and pointing to himself. âM-me?â He squeaks out, âYou⊠W-want me to⊠Hhh?â He canât believe what heâs hearing but supposes his schedule COULD put in the time. âhhh⊠Ah, hmm. I-i could clear a f-few⊠T-things to make time sir.â He hums, looking at the file he has and flipping to his written down schedule. Go to Zone 1 and help the Elsen with the broken computers, Zone 2 meet Japhet and check on the residents there, Zone 3 he has to help the research team work on a cure for burning again, and afterwards he needs to continue his work on the defense robot for his fellow Elsen⊠âI-i could⊠H-have time after I ah, assist the research team.â He responds to the directors invite, thinking he could probably get it done earlier if he tells the others that the director asked for his presence⊠âI could s-see if I could be excused earlyâŠâ
Observing you through a low-lidded gaze, The Director waits patiently for you to finish your schedule-related musings, As you scan your collection of data and files. Out of the corner of your eye, You swear you can see his head tilt to the side, Just a bit as he watches youâŠYou arenât really sure if thatâs a gesture of expression, Or just of him getting a better look at you. Then again, It could be both. It reminds you of something you read about in a book, OnceâŠOne about some of the oldest creatures, Whose blood runs cold in their veins. In fact, This whole scenario reminds you of something from another book, A fantasy oneâŠThough, Things didnât turn out quite so well for the protagonist in that story. Perhaps your polite, Respectful demeanor is paying offâŠThat, And you havenât tried to steal anything from this massive beast. Nor have you intruded on his home, And loudly proclaimed that youâve come to slay him.
That would just be rude. Honestly, The nerve of some people.
âMy dear, Take as much time as you need. Iâve no qualms with waiting, Donât you worry about that~â
âThereâs no need to rush, My friend. Iâll be here whenever youâre ready. Iâm certainly not going anywhere, And you know where to find me~â
The scientist is very polite, he knows this person is his boss and his protector. Damien is always respectful and very polite to everyone, from his anxiety or how he is one could never tell which. He looks up from his papers, listening to his boss before he gives a small friendly and thankful smile. "A-ah, thank you so much sir... I-I won't be too long, I-i'm... Sure of that." The Elsen seems to be relaxing the longer he's near the Guardian, despite the other Elsen speaking very strangely of the director. Enoch doesn't seem to be the Elsen eater they all say he is... He seems really nice to Damien, and the Elsen is a pretty good judge of character. He nods, smiling at him. "Would that be all sir?" He asks politely.
