You know, I totally get the outrage, but personally I’m expecting the whole Captain-America-is-a-Nazi thing to be a massive fakeout.

You know, like those old Superman comics where the cover shows Superman doing something horrible, like murdering Batman or eating the Moon, and the tagline is all “Not a hoax! Not a trick! Not a what-if! This is really happening!”

… and then you read it and the scene on the cover is taken totally out of context, or the dialogue is misleading about what’s really going on, or it’s an evil shapeshifter impersonating Superman, or whatever.

i.e., it “really happened”, but the framing was so misleading that it might as well have been a trick. It’s basically a publicity stunt with zero long-term implications.

Now, I’m not saying I know for a fact that Captain America secretly being a Nazi is going to turn out to be that, and I totally agree that even as a publicity stunt it’s in exceedingly poor taste, but I really doubt it’s as serious a they’re making it to be. I’d give nine out of ten odds it’s just Superman Is A Dick, Captain America Edition.

I just saw a comment on a facebook post about rogue one that literally said “I guess star wars doesn’t like male heroes anymore” and I am raging. damn right, it’s 2016. young girls deserve characters like rey and jyn to look up to. rey IS the hero of the new trilogy. the fuckboys can cry all they want but guess what? your misogyny doesn’t matter to anyone.
