AETHER thinks he can save both, no, he knows he can. The powers of this world rests at the tips of his fingers. He’s faced monsters and gods and come out alive and better than he was before. There’s no reason to hesitate, none whatsoever to consider his decision but—but. He has never been made to choose before. There was always another way, another choice, another something he could rely on. It’s a moral dilemma, like the situation with the train where you either save five people and kill one person, or kill five people to save one person. It’s easy enough to answer when it was simply that—a moral dilemma created to confuse him, not a world ending decision that lies on his shoulders. To choose one is to doom the other. Most people would choose the world, but while Aether is called a hero and the savior of nations, he is also a person. He looks at your resigned smile, like you already know which one he’ll choose, and he decides to prove you wrong.
DAINSLEIF clings to loss like a dying man does to the edge of a cliff. The inevitability of death and your mortality rests on his shoulders much like weight of his entire nation’s death. He wonders what it says about him that he’d rather have you safe and sound than have the world be saved. Five hundred years of aimless wandering, fighting against the remnants of his fallen nation and watching the world move on while he remains untouched by time, the ghost of a past that can never be returned to. Dainsleif isn’t a hero, he’s tired. All that’s left of him are fading memories of a time gone by and moments with you that he clings to like a lifeline. What has this world ever done for him except cause him pain and needless grief? What has it done to deserve his sacrifice? Nothing. And so he rests, hand in hand with you on withering grass and waits for the world to end. At least, this time, he won’t be alone in watching the heavens descend.
SCARAMOUCHE laughs, and laughs, and laughs until he’s sure even the gods that reside in Celestia has heard the scorn and mockery in his voice. It is so laughably easy to choose you and denounce the world. Let it be turned to ash and dust, let his body dance on top of a desolate world, let him pull you in an embrace and delight in the fact that no sun and no light (for none of these exist anymore) would ever outmatch the brightness in your eyes, the smile on your face, the tinkling sound of your laughter amidst the remains of a world that once threatened to snuff your life like a candle left in the dark. He is like a flame and you, the spark. There’s a tsunami gathering on the horizon, threatening to drown everything in its wake, but instead of preventing it, he revels in the ruin it will bring. It is either your death alone or yours and everyone else, and if you have to die either way, then he will die with you and drag the rest of the world along in his self-appointed destruction. You taught him what it felt to no longer be alone, so he will make sure you’re never lonely, even in death.
EI feels weightless, like a leaf adrift in the wind. Right now, he cannot afford to be that carefree bard who spun tales of your lovely hair and lovelier still lips (cannot be Icarus who flew too close to the sun and fell). Venti wants—but Barbatos knows the best option, the best choice, the least devastating one but the most heart-wrenching one. The situation is funny, laughable, hilarious, really, the kind that makes his stomach ache and brings tears to his eyes that drip down his cheeks and onto the ground and—oh, he’s crying. He’s crying and holding you close and apologizing, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, and he doesn’t deserve your forgiveness, doesn’t deserve the hand carding through his hair and the soft press of your lips on his forehead as you murmur, don’t cry, it’s alright, you’re doing the best you can. But the best means not doing this at all, the best means not having to make a choice at all, the means means not having to say goodbye. It’s okay, you tell him, I forgive you. But he never forgives himself.
XIAO thinks there must be another way, there has to be another way. He won’t accept this, won’t allow himself to choose between losing you or losing everything, because he knows, deep down, that the choice has already been made and it is not the the one he wants. But he knows better than most that doing what he wants isn’t always what is needed, that certain sacrifices must be made despite his unwillingness, despite his entire body protesting against it. Rex Lapis once told him that being a god means making difficult decisions. If this is what it means to be a god, then he will accept a life of service, a life of war and fighting and breathing like every second is his last—because pain and suffering are infinitely better than having to wake everyday without your voice by his ear, giggling about how you finally caught him asleep. A world without your light, without your presence, without you is a desolate one. There must be another way, another sacrifice to be made that doesn’t involve you. Just—anything, anyone but you. Even if it has to be him.

"ACHOO!" you sneezed and pulled back your snot. "Ewww will you look at that my baby's disgustinggg" You playfully pushed your boyfriend at his joke. "Says the one who I got this from" He laughed and pulled your one hand to put it in his pocket "Hey hey now I warned you I was sick!" You shot him a glare "Yeah so you should've known better to take care of that! If Haitham didn't tell me and I didn't take care of you, you would've been in hospital right now"
He raised an eyebrow "ehh... Alhaitham that snitch...and since when did you start listening to him" you pinched his palm that was in his pocket "All the bad news he gives me is always true anyway" Kaveh winced in pain "ow ow ow- sorry sorryyyyy" you rolled your eyes.
He playfully nudged you with his elbow on your arm "hey hey but can't blame me though the deadline was nearrr"

You nodded "Well I demand corn soup then" He gasped "Oh my goodness do you mean those packet ones you get?" You raised an eyebrow "And?" He gasped even louder "You're sick you can't eat packet stuff! You're such a no lifer N/n I can't believe you" he teased. "We're college students it's natural!"
He started to walk faster "I'll make it don't worry when Alhaithams gone to shit I be cooking like a 5 star-" you both continued "Michelin" and broke into laughter.
"I'll bring extra blankets" he smiled, you smiled back "No hoarding my plushies to yourself this time" "Heyyy they're my kids too now" you scoffed "Kids?" He gave you a susoi expression "ohh? Curious? Want one?" You punched his arm "ow-" "We're in public for god's sake Kaveh!" You bowed your head to hide your face in your muffler.

Alhaitham's way of talking is smooth and sly not everyone can make out, he doesn't argue with idiotic logic instead, he uses that to manipulate his way into making them believe what he wants them to.
But he never met someone so dumb that he can neither win or lose in your fight at the library. It seems you were the type to drag both parties down.
"So what exactly gave you the thought that telling the sages closing down all artistic activities would be a great idea?" Your grip on the book you to cover half your face to conceal your lip bite of anger got tighter.
"A tactic? I can't tell you the exact details but actions speak louder than words is the answer"
You rested the book on his folded arms " You do see the look on my face right now do you?"

You took one step forward and got very close to him "See my point is you make decisions and plans without thinking the chances and how it may affect others if it does not succeed. If I'm ever one of them who get involved in it" you pulled back your book that rested on his arm "I will hunt you and bury you, I don't even care if the akademiya will be after me Mr scribe, I see you with the divine knowledge. The bazaar has my eyes." With that you walked away huffing.
He was left speechless, was he supposed to be surprised? Threatened? Disrespected? He didn't know he was just drowning in the thought how you were so keen and gutsy despite having a clumsy and daydreaming behaviour. He felt that you may be an interesting person to get involved with for his future plans. Something that you just not so long ago told him not do.
It felt as if he judged you wrong. With that his judgement has never been wrong, to him atleast.

He smiled, a smile that speaks he's entertained and mocking someone "Remember the time you threatened to hunt and bury me?"

You pulled his cheeks "If you dare to disturb my balance of life then why not." how do you even survive after doing and saying such things to Alhaitham was what always surprised Kaveh. Maybe Alhaitham just had double standards for some people.
"however from what I've realised you've come to love how I disturb your balance of life isn't it?" You shuffled and trapped him in your arms "Because you need to try more. The actual stage where you can actually destroy it."
He raised an eyebrow and gripped your wrists "Oh? so are you telling me I'm not perfect? Very gutsy of you."
You chuckled "Sometimes I realise the scribe may not be upto my standards honestly."
He closed his eyes and smiled "Ah yeah as you say dollface."
You were a brat, an asshole even. More than what Alhaitham was and that's what he failed to see.
I think Alhaitham needs a partner that is able to talk back to him.
The majority of the time he can appear demeaning and cold but that's due to his rational nature. But he is also often sarcastic and would give witty or snarky replies - it's often just hard to pick up on since the difference to when he is serious is just ever so slightly. You're one to immediately pick up on it though.
So, when he threw the first snide remark your way in such a sarcastic manner and you jabbed straight back at him with the same attitude he fell for you right then and there.
He enjoys your little battle of wits and often tries to engage them because it reminds him of why he fell in love with you in the first place.

You were chatting with Collei about what to do for dinner that night. The two of you had been hanging out for a few hours, and she had decided that she was absolutely starving. With a loud grumble, your stomach vocally concurred with your fellow forest watcher.
"I don't think I've eaten since-" You cut your musings short when you felt the familiar softness of your lover's tail flicking around your wrist.
"Go on," he instructed as your face grew a bit pale. "You haven't eaten since...?" He asked, his green eyes locking onto you as he moved around from behind you to look you in the eyes.
"I think I'll just go make some pita pockets!" Collei said quickly, shooting you an apologetic glance as she made her escape.
"Since..ah..." your voice was thin as you looked anywhere but Tighnari's stern face.
"I specifically remember making breakfast this morning and leaving some for you, with a note, telling you to eat before you set about your day. Did you fail to heed my instructions?" He asked. His voice was calm, collected as always. You bit your lip and shifted on your feet.
"I can smell it in your bag," he sighed, then grabbed your wrist and pulled you back towards home.
"'M sorry, Tigh, I really meant to-"
"Save it, Y/n." He huffed, then launched into a long lecture about your diet, the importance of food to keep your energy up, how you need to be more attentive, etc. "I'll make your favorite, and I expect you to eat every bite." He hummed. You simply nodded in response.

"I did no such thing." He shot back, sitting up and setting his book aside. Kaveh simply rolled his eyes as he walked out the front door, closing it loudly behind him, causing you to start.
"Y/n, did you eat before you came over?" Alhaitham asked sternly as he pulled your book from your hands. You looked up at him in surprise, your face flushed bright red, and you stumbled to answer him.
"Well, I, uh, I guess I was in such a hurry..." You trailed off sheepishly, causing him to sigh and pinch the bridge of his nose.
"How many times need I remind you to eat. It isn't an optional activity, you know. One of these days you're going to collapse and I won't be around to save you." He sighed.
"Sorry," you squeaked, hiding your face in your hands. He shook his head and lifted you to your feet.
"Apologies are useless. You're better off telling me what you want for lunch."

"Oh, yes, everything's fine. Although something was brought to my attention during that dreadfully boring meeting." He mused.

"Well, you know the acting grandmaster often forgets herself in her work," he began. You nodded along, allowing him to lead you towards the exit of the Knights of Favonius' headquarters, his arm wrapped snugly around your waist. "It seems to me that Lisa was quite concerned for your wellbeing as well." He hummed, and your step faltered. Your boss was...concerned for your wellbeing?
"For what reason?" You asked, confused.
"She seems to be under the impression that you worked for 10 hours straight without hardly a crumb to eat." He informed you. Your eyes grew wide as you looked up at him, and you wracked your brain to try and remember the last time you had eaten. "I told her that there was no way my little nightingale could possibly be so careless, nor was there any way I would allow them to be." You chuckled nervously in response, and he glanced down at you, frowning. "Don't tell me I'm wrong now." Your stomach growled in response, and he sighed.
"My sweet, you must remember to replenish your strength, even in the midst of work. What would you like for dinner?"

The General knew almost right away when you hadn't eaten for an extended period of time. He was incredibly attentive towards you, always, and when your energy levels started dropping suddenly, he knew something was wrong. Though he couldn’t escape his duties as General, he periodically sent soldiers to check in on you throughout the day.
“Your Excellency! I was wondering if I might possibly request this time off to take my meal break?” Gorou asked after he and Kokomi adjourned a strategy meeting. Kokomi met the General’s eyes and nodded.
“Of course, Gorou. Take whatever time you need.” She replied, waving her hand to dismiss him. With that said, he practically scrambled from the Sangonomiya Shrine, only to be met by you practically stumbling into him on his way out.
“Gorou!” You huffed, breathless from the climb up to the shrine, which he knew you hated so much. “What gives?” You asked your partner, panting a little heavier than usual.
“Y/n! What are you doing all the way up here? I was just on my way to see you!” Gorou replied, grabbing you by the shoulders to steady you. “Easy now, don’t exert yourself too much! You don’t have any fuel in your body to keep you going!” He harped, his voice halfway between chiding and panicked. What if you had fallen on the way up? Or passed out? The thought of you tumbling all the way to the bottom-
“Is that what this is all about?” You sighed, leaning your head on your boyfriend’s chest. “‘M fine, bub. You worry too much.” You mumbled, wrapping your arms around his slim, yet chiseled figure. He immediately wrapped his arms around you in turn, pulling you into himself and tucking your head under his chin.
“Well, if you insist…But at least come have lunch with me. We can have a picnic on the beach, and bring all your favorite snacks.” He all but pleaded. You smiled into him, eternally grateful for your dopey, doting, caring boyfriend.
“Okay bub.”

“Y/nnnnnn,” your boyfriend called out in a sing-song tone. You looked up from what you were doing and furrowed your brows at him, confused. “Is there something you’d like to tell me?” Heizou asked, resting his chin on his hand as he gazed at you.
“Um…no?” You replied, even more confused now. Although the look in his eye and the lily in his voice suggested to you that you did indeed have something to tell him, even if you weren’t aware of what it was just yet.
“Tell me, dear, do you know what time it is?” He asked. You looked over at the clock on the wall.
“It’s 4:30.”
“And can you tell me what it is you had for lunch?” He asked, his voice light and innocent as the color rose to your cheeks.
“I, uh-“
“No? Oh dear, then can you inform me on what you ate for breakfast this morning?”
You squirmed in your seat, avoiding his gaze as it burned a hole in your head. You hated it when your boyfriend went all detective on you- usually it meant you were in trouble for whatever reason. “I didn’t,” you mumbled, shifting your eyes towards the floor.
“What was that? Speak up doll, mumbling is so unbecoming.” He replied, raising from his chair and walking over to you. His finger found its was under your chin, and he lifted your head up, forcing you to meet his gaze.
“I didn’t eat.” You answered, your face now violently red. He tutted at you, shaking his head.

the wanderer's hand always subconsciously seeks out that of your own. he finds comfort in the feeling of your skin against his, be it freezing from the chill or warm like a spring morn, there always is that little flickering hint of a smile on his lips when he feels your hand giving his a comforting squeeze. you're there, you feel him and he feels you. that's all that matters.
alhaitham constantly finds himself amused over how you so lovingly place a blanket over him when you find his form "sleeping" on the couch. he'll never admit that your attentiveness was the most endearing thing to him, and he'll never admit that he always craves for it, lest he wishes to kaveh another reason to drawl at him for hours. but when it's just the two of you...
kaveh is a very passionate person. his passion led him to many great things, like his magnum opus: the beautiful palace of alcazarzaray. but wheneve he's with you, his outgoing nature just dwindles into this ball of awkard stuttering or silence. he swears he'll tell you, one day surely, he'll tell you in such a 'passionate' way that you'll be moved to tears... but for now, he's just content making little conversations about everyday things here and there. it's small, it's slow, but it draws you two closer. little by little. and he's happy with that.
