The urban fantasy show I actually want to see is a hospital drama with a dedicated wing for supernatural illnesses.

Vampirism. Lycanthropy. Cheap spells gone wrong. A woman brought in for her prenatal has to be told her baby is a lindworm. Someone is literally being followed by the anthropomorphic personification of the Black Death.

Someone somewhere out there is having their perception of the world irreparably shattered by the knowledge that magic is real, and at the other side is a team of doctors who have to roll their eyes and pull out Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales because some high school kid tried to go Carrie with a cheap spellbook and turn all the kids at prom into frogs, and the doctors have to wrangle a couple dozen teenagers into admitting if they have a true love who can break the spell.

I want the hospital director to be some dark entity that feeds on human misery but figured out that if you successfully treat the source of the misery then instead of hunting you down as an abomination the humans start bringing more miserable people to your house en masse and things kinda got out of hand from there.

i really love ash williams as a protagonist, especially in vs the evil dead. his sense of humor and just how fun the whole chainsaw hand thing is aside, he went through literally unimaginable trauma in which he had to chop up the possessed bodies of his friends and girlfriend just to survive, only to be completely ostracized and treated like a mass murderer the moment he finally got back.

and seeing what that did to him—seeing him as a stunted loser loner middle aged man living in a cramped trailer.

ash williams is not a good person. he’s a walking bundle of HR violations, he’s egotistical, often selfish, and terrible at talking to people. he’s not like actively malicious, but damn he sucks! he’s living proof that trauma doesn’t make you a better person. it curdles you, slowly, over time, and it just makes you worse

Kaido used he/him pronouns to refer to Yamato and called Yamato “son” in accordance with Yamato’s preference. If Kaido is a more accepting person than you are, you may need to reevaluate your priorities.

Not only is Kaido more accepting than them, they can't accept that. There's a very common claim from that side of the fandom that Kaido rejected having a daughter because a woman would be too weak to carry his legacy and forced Yamato to present as his son. Not only is this never stated and not particularly in line with Kaido's character (friendly with Big Mom, seems to have a decent number of women BY ONE PIECE STANDARDS in his crew, has more named female crew members than Whitebeard etc) but it's contradicted by canon. Before Yamato announces that he's a man, the Beast Pirates refer to him as the "Oni princess".

Truly, the act of man who would hate his child being a girl so much he'd force the kid to present otherwise. Getting his subordinates to call the kid "princess" just screams hatred.

Not only are these guys hateful, they're incapable of grasping basic plot details.

it really amuses me that the spectrum for evil dead fans are either 16yr olds-late 20s queer/trans people who find ash to be an icon or 50yr old fathers that saw evil dead when it first came out who think ash is badass. it’s beautiful.
