“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”

Lament of Icarus

3 long months of toiling on and off on this Neoclassicist master study by the majestic Herbert James Draper. Have always wanted to make this tribute piece ever since Icarus was announced but was derailed by a roller coaster of life and emotions up until this year. Then, I visited Monet's exhibition and it reminded me why I love and found art fascinating in the first place. Still dk if it's worth the amount of time spent lmfao but I can say I'm very satisfied with how it turn out. Learnt a couple things from him heh.

Also before any jokers decide to come at me - yes he's pale in the game but logic says you don't stay pale going so close to the damn sun

hello dropping by to say your kata cal comic (writeittypeit/800167717672976384) drives me crazy like he literally double tapped her dad RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER!!!! and they're a found family now....also i love that you made the final panel cut off his eyes. great touch!! also the fourth panel w kata's big eyes.....it's so heartbreaking...anyway im so glad i found ur art i swear the fandom doesn't talk abt this enough!! anyway do u have any spare kata and cal relationship thoughts. i heard they're going to do more w cal-as-a-father-figure in jedi game 3 and curious to know if u have like a little wishlist of things you might want to see...

-Vader remains undefeated and beats the shit out of someone again

-Playable Merrin

-Training scenes with Kata

-friction between Kata and cal

-Grandpa greez

-cal does something unforgivable/morally gray

-merrin and cal domesticity

-Kata learns nightsister magic

-A plausible reason for why Cal is not in other lore
