Alright, just to get the excitement out of my veins-
I had the most insane Marvel Rivals match to happen to me and I'm so happy to be a part of it.
Context for my gamin' skills: they're mediocre. It's entirely dependent on team synergy. I also tend to prefer healer classes more often than not, so I'm not ever high on any scoreboard but you can alway trust me to do my damndest with healing.
Now, the story time:
The match was a convoy game and we were on the Midtown map. The enemy team was, putting it lightly, kicking our asses. I was, at first, playing Elsa Bloodstone because we already had two Strategists and I'm not that good of a tank. We only gave them some trouble at the start before they switch characters and beat us to a pulp (literally, one of them was Hulk and he kept throwing us around alongside Doc Strange).
Then, somewhere mid-game, one of our teammates, Invisible-Woman I believe, left the match.
Note, this was competitive. We weren't going to get another teammate (a fact that I didn't know until mid-match), so it was just us five players against six.
When I noticed that a Jeff player was the only healer in the team, I quickly switched to the White Fox because being the lone healer sucks. And I wasn't about to let a fellow Jeff main suffer against the weight of healing the team.
We gave the team some more trouble but they managed to get their convoy to the end.
Then, it was our turn.
One of other players (I think either Moon Knight or Thor) had stated that we need to locked in, especially if we wanted to win. That's when we all metaphorically looked at other and nodded.
We locked in.
Thor taking the hits and throwing hands, Peni setting traps everywhere she could, Moon Knight also throwing hands and staying on point, Jeff throwing out the healing bubbles, then me (playing the White Fox) switching between healing the group and being the emergency DPS if needed.
We moved the convoy with almost no interruption (at the end we had some issues, Hulk and a flank hero were trying to sandwich us but we held through). The game went into a tie-breaker match. The team cheered but Moon Knight had stated that we need to bring this home, we need to keep it up because the enemy had the first tie-break attempt.
We solemnly nod and continue the fight. With as much teamwork as we can do, the enemy team didn't reach the first checkpoint. At this point, my hands had started to shake and, for a second, there was a genuine worry that something was going to fuck up last second.
However, with the team synergy we had, that worry wasn't there for long.
The gate opens and we fought tooth and nail. Everyone stayed on point and we kept attacking.
Until we got past that line in the sand and won the whole match.
That was the best match I had in this game yet and I had to end there. It was too good. And the fact that no one was on comms and we only went off of vibes was amazing.
I don't know if they have a tumblr or not, BUT-
To the Peni, Thor, Moon Knight, & Jeff in the match, y'all were amazing and I wish to play with y'all again someday.
That's the end of my story time. Have a good evening folks.

Y'all if you're American please email your politicians and senators against the parents decide act. I'm fucking begging because we're reaching a tipping point.
Quick and easy link to both find your congressmen/women and giving you a quick and easy way to copy / paste the message into it. You want to oppose. It's an act that will demand that all major OS makers integrate a direct forced age verification control into all OS.
I received a comment on this that I figured would be very helpful- it's a template for communicating with your representatives. Be sure to use it for reference
Dear Representative [Name],
I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 8250 (The "Parents Decide Act"). As your constituent and a concerned citizen, I believe this bill introduces unprecedented risks to digital privacy and security.
Specifically, I am alarmed by:
SEC. 2(a)(1)(B): Requiring age verification to even use an operating system creates a mandatory "hardware lockout" that ends anonymous computing and forces users to hand over sensitive identification data to major corporations just to power on their devices.
SEC. 2(a)(3): Mandating that OS providers create a system for all app developers to access verification data is a massive security vulnerability. This effectively creates a centralized API of user identities accessible to thousands of third-party developers, many of whom may lack adequate data protection.
This bill does not protect children; it creates a centralized surveillance infrastructure at the OS level. I urge you to protect the privacy of your constituents and vote NO on H.R. 8250.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Your Zip Code]
This is a hell that us down under in Australia are already living in, and it’s not even effective at what it claims to do in protecting children.
Given that, in the wake of this mandatory identification policy, my country seems to be moving to hand over its citizens biometric data, like fingerprints, Face ID files, and identification documents, over to the USA and to ICE to maintain the visa free travel (ESTA) we have, I strongly urge any US resident to send these emails, or make calls.
But if you can’t do that, the most powerful thing you can do is spread the word. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, anyone who can help.
My reach will likely be small, and so I don’t know if this will mean very much in the grand scheme of things, but I cannot stand to see this tracking happen to another population as it did to mine.
And if you think it won’t affect you, it will. All anonymity goes out the window when your accounts can be linked via your personal ID
I wish you all luck in preventing this act from going through.

art block is your brain telling you to do studies.
draw a still life. practice some poses. sketch some naked people. do a color study. try out a different technique on a basic shape.
art block doesnt stop you from drawing, it stops you from making your drawings look the way you want them to. and thats because you need to push your skills to the next level so you can preform at that standard
think of it as level grinding for your next work.
As a scientific illustrator- this is 100% true and going to review your basics will fix it every goddamn time. Not only does it keep your skills sharp, when you’re not emotionally invested in the final product of a piece, you relax and your brain makes more/better art juice for you. So, when you get back to that big/important piece? You’ll know what to do and how to do it.

It's That Time Again: Wildfire Season is Upon Us (It never really stopped being that time.)
I wanted to put together a post of resources and advice all collected into one spot, so here we go!
And remember, just because you think you live in an area where you are safe from wildfires because "it doesn't happen here" does not mean your risk is zero. Wildfires can happen anywhere in the United States, and their prevalence is increasing. Don't be afraid, just be aware and prepared.
Watch Duty
First and foremost, no matter where you live, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Watch Duty app and turning on alerts for the area you live. It is available on Apple, Android, and just as a website. It will allow you to get push notification updates for any wildfires that start in your area, what's happening with them, evacuation information, shelter information, and more all in one spot. It is now available in all fifty states.
The basic and important functions are all free, but you can also get a paid subscription to access some other neat stuff like a flight tracker to see what the firefighting aircraft are doing, fire progression prediction models, a list of links to local emergency services radio feeds you can listen to, etc.
Local Alerts
Signing up for local alerts is also something you need to do. EVEN IF YOU WERE SIGNED UP BEFORE 2026, RECHECK THAT YOU ARE SIGNED UP. Last year the Code Red system, which was one of the most popular local alert systems, was hacked and many places have since moved to other platforms. This means you may need to sign up again even if you were signed up before.
To find out what your local alert system is and how to sign up, search for your town's emergency management information, check government websites, check local fire department websites, or ask local officials.
Mitigate Mitigate Mitigate
Wildfires are going to happen. The best way to help protect your home and/or your business is to mitigate the impact when a fire starts. Things like defensible space, keeping your roof free of combustible debris, screening vents with metal mesh, and using fire safe plants can all be the difference between saving your home and losing it.
The FireWise program is a great place to get started with mitigation, especially if you are interested in community and neighborhood scale projects.
Another great resource if you want to look at mitigation on the community scale is the trainings offered by Coalitions & Collaboratives.
Be sure to also check what resources are available in your local community. You may be able to grants or other forms of support to help with your own mitigation projects.
Prevent the Fire Before it Starts
Put your campfire all the way out. Maintain your vehicle to prevent sparks. Don't park on or against dry plants. If you are towing, make sure your tow chains aren't dragging. If you have snow chains hung on the bottom of your vehicle anywhere, make sure those aren't dragging.
Obey Fire Restrictions
Fire restrictions are generally done on a city or county level, and can be found on the associated city or county websites. Some places are better about this than others. Most areas use the same general restrictions like no open burning, no fireworks, etc., but some may have more specific restrictions you should be familiar with.
And use common sense. If it is hot, dry, and/or windy, don't do things that could start a fire.
Know How to Report a Wildfire
Reporting a wildfire, or potential wildfire, can be tricky without an address. The BEST way is to provide a latitude/longitude, which can usually be obtained on your phone by opening a map app and dropping a pin where you think the fire is, or using other place finding apps like a compass.
If that's not an option, the closest cross streets and landmarks are good. Try to give the closest town as well, even if it is a good distance away, since there are many duplicate place names so having the closest town will help narrow things down considerably.
Understand Your Insurance
I wish I had a good link for this one, but it's going to vary heavily by state. Everyone is doing something different these days, pushing different legislation, enforcing different things. The best thing you can do for yourself is to read through your current policy(ies), talk to your insurance agent, and look up ongoing reforms in your state/area. But it is better to take the time to understand these things now, ahead of fire season.
Have an Evacuation Plan
Know multiple ways out of your neighborhood AND the area where you work AND anywhere else you spend an extensive amount of time. There is a very, very good chance that in a wildfire emergency your cellphone will lose signal and you will not be able to use a GPS app. Pre-planning your evacuation route--and actually driving it a few times--can be critical.
Keep up to date paper maps in your vehicle as well, and know how to read them, in case you lose cell signal for a more extensive amount of time.
Do not attempt to drive on roads that you and/or your vehicle is not capable of. If you get stuck, that creates a much bigger issue for you, other evacuees, and responders.
If you don't drive, for reasons of disability or otherwise, make a plan with friends or family for how you will get out. If you don't have a good support system, reach out to your local fire department to see if they know of any local services that can help, or if they can just take note of your address.
Have a Go Bag Ready
Last but not least, have a Go Bag ready along with your general preparedness measures. A Go Bag is something with JUST the basics. It is not meant to be everything you could ever need, or a full survival system. It is a backpack with the necessities to get you through the first 24-48 hours of an evacuation so you can get your feet under you and figure out the rest from there.

KIA ORA CREW!!!! they're building a five billion dollar AI data centre of absolutely colossal size in waihōpai/invercargill.
if you don't want this to happen, it's VERY QUICK to sign this petition which will eventually be sent to parliament! you don't have to be from aotearoa to sign.
no community should have to face the consequences of an AI data centre of this size. the cost is also heinous. this money could go towards so many causes. it would mean the world if you could give this a quick boost by sharing or taking 15 seconds to sign the petition!
If the radio I heard about this on is correct, this Data centre would take as much energy to run annually as the entirety of Wellington City (the capital city for those unaware) all of this during a fuel crisis. None of us asked for this
great! great! great! wow! great! yay!
Not to mention that the groundwater throughout most of Southland - that the data centre will be drawing on for cooling - has extensive nitrate pollution from decades of intense dairy farming.
The same conditions as in Oregon USA, which is rather in the spotlight right now as the data centres there using nitrate-polluted groundwater for cooling have intensified that pollution so much that it's causing cancer and miscarriages.
There's a good chance that on top of being an immense waste of power and decimating the surrounding environment, it's going to kill people
Pssst
Hey, are you an artist or writer with WIPs?
Come here... I got a secret for you pssst come ‘ere
waiting in deep suspense
Psst you ready here comes the secret
Here it comes
I am also very curious about this secret
Your time spent enjoying the creative process is infinitely more valuable that any final project you create. So stop putting yourself down for never finishing or posting those WIPs because every moment you spent creating something you loved is a moment not wasted. Your progress and talent is measured by your passion not your number of posts.
This post went from 3k to 7k overnight and that just goes to show how many of you need to hear this so make sure you don’t ever forget it
Once a little boy went to school. One morning The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. He liked to make all kinds; Lions and tigers, Chickens and cows, Trains and boats; And he took out his box of crayons And began to draw.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make flowers.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make beautiful ones With his pink and orange and blue crayons. But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And it was red, with a green stem. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at his teacher’s flower Then he looked at his own flower. He liked his flower better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just turned his paper over, And made a flower like the teacher’s. It was red, with a green stem.
On another day The teacher said: “Today we are going to make something with clay.” “Good!” thought the little boy; He liked clay. He could make all kinds of things with clay: Snakes and snowmen, Elephants and mice, Cars and trucks And he began to pull and pinch His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, “Wait!” “It is not time to begin!” And she waited until everyone looked ready. “Now,” said the teacher, “We are going to make a dish.” “Good!” thought the little boy, He liked to make dishes. And he began to make some That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said “Wait!” “And I will show you how.” And she showed everyone how to make One deep dish. “There,” said the teacher, “Now you may begin.”
The little boy looked at the teacher’s dish; Then he looked at his own. He liked his better than the teacher’s But he did not say this. He just rolled his clay into a big ball again And made a dish like the teacher’s. It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon The little boy learned to wait, And to watch And to make things just like the teacher. And pretty soon He didn’t make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened That the little boy and his family Moved to another house, In another city, And the little boy Had to go to another school.
The teacher said: “Today we are going to make a picture.” “Good!” thought the little boy. And he waited for the teacher To tell what to do. But the teacher didn’t say anything. She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy She asked, “Don’t you want to make a picture?” “Yes,” said the little boy. “What are we going to make?” “I don’t know until you make it,” said the teacher. “How shall I make it?” asked the little boy. “Why, anyway you like,” said the teacher. “And any color?” asked the little boy. “Any color,” said the teacher. And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.
~Helen Buckley, The Little Boy
I hate that I hesitated to reblog this just because I expect people to think it’s pretentious or melodramatic when it’s seriously real as fuck and I’ve witnessed it
Fuck man
My mom likes to refrence a story she read
About a guy who escaped North Korea
He said living there was like living in a pot
And he grew up there, so he grew into the shape of the pot
But once he was out
And the pot was gone
He was still in the shape of the pot
And he had to work really hard to grow outside that shape
I think its the same with alot of things
Art, gender presentation, decoration prefrences, food, hobbies
You forget what made you happy in favor of what kept you alive.
I DO think tumblr's dev team has been instructed to constantly implement new features and that's why they keep tweaking the UI in goofy ways. I imagine this is an upper management thing, so even if we say "well don't change anything and just maintain the status quo" they'll continue to make other changes anyway.
I will admit I REALLY like the recent improvements they've added to tumblr's search (you can exclude terms now!! you can search multiple tags!! and time frames!!) so it's not like they're incapable of adding useful features. it might be mutually beneficial for us as users if we were more vocal about things we want and don't want. Some features I'd like to see added:
spoilerable text
spoilerable images
the return of hover text!! remember when we had that?
ability to embed videos in reblogs
ANIMATED GIF ICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
the ability to turn off other people's animated gif icons
the ability to filter original posts on a user's ENTIRE blog, not just a tag/search
more html support, like what if we could build tables
adding reactions to replies! I'm glad we can like them more but it'd be nice if we could take this further
embeddable tiktoks?? I don't even use tiktok but I remember trying to embed one in like 2020 and I'm surprised we still can't! even vines were able to be embedded
being able to search in your DMs. not being able to do this is why I tend to redirect mutuals to discord
MUTING USERS POSTS/COMMENTS WITHOUT BLOCKING THEM! just cause I don't want to see someone's posts doesn't mean I don't want us to never interact ever
a mutual-only dashboard feed
a feed for the blogs you're subscribed to
get rid of tumblr tv lmao I've literally never used it
"mark as read" button for communities without opening them
please dear god no AI shit unless it's a way for me to filter/block it easier
several of these I've submitted support tickets for under "feedback", and if there's anything you feel strongly about I suggest you do too!
Writing Resources to use instead of AI
For coming up with character names:
Behind the name (my absolute fav)
Allows you to choose the origin of where you want the name to be from, whether you want a more feminine vs masculine vs androgenous name (as voted by users), random surname generator, and clicking on the name gives you important info like if there are any famous people with the same name, where it’s from, how common it is, and how people tend to see it, etc.
You can also search their name database by letter or meaning or origin, so if you know you want a character who has a name/surname that starts with an A from Ireland, there’s a whole list for you to choose from.
Census sites
Especially useful if you’re looking for a name from a specific place and/or time period. Just search “(country) census (year)” and you’ll find a database of real people who lived in that place at that time. No one can ever call your names unrealistic again.
For coming up with place names:
Fantasy name generator
This site can basically come up with any name for any person, place, or thing you might ever need. There are also specific generators for different fandoms if you’re looking to make an OC in an established world.
For finding that one word on the tip of your tongue:
One Look Thesaurus
This is my go-to. Not only can you find synonyms like a regular thesaurus, but you can also describe words like “unhappy smile” or “quiet laugh” to find the more specific word you’re looking for.
For coming up with ideas:
Word cloud
When I need to inspire a new idea, I write down all the things I’m interested in (hauntings, academia, lesbians, etc.) and put them into a word cloud to shuffle them next to each other. Sometimes seeing a concept in a new context can spark new ideas!
WWF Discord
This is my discord channel (shameless plug) for when you need to brainstorm off other people but don’t have anyone irl to talk to. We’re also happy to read and give feedback on writing, answer writing questions, or just chat!
For visualizing places and characters:
Pinterest can at times be a bit too sterile for my tastes, but if you use the right words, you can find more realistic photos of places. For example, adding “aesthetic” after basically any word will bring up a more broad collection of photos to help you flesh out places.
This is also a great way to find photos of people and fashion to help visualize characters. I’m bad at describing clothes, so I usually collect photos of outfits to help me know what my characters are wearing. Searching up “character inspiration” will collect more interesting photos and drawings of people who might not exactly be of our world.
(However, to make Pinterest not show you AI results, you have to go into your settings and check the “reduce AI” box. Luckily, it does mostly work.)
Death to Stock
Like pinterest but completely AI free (hooray!) Only drawback is that you have to pay a monthly subscription (about $20 CAD).
Cosmos
Very similar to pinterest but slightly more "artsy". I'm not super familiar with this one but I believe all the photos are human and you can save them and create collections with a free account.
Dupe Photos
Royalty-free stock image site with very Pinterest-core photos!
Minecraft
If you haven’t built your entire fictional city in Minecraft instead of writing, why not? It’s fun.
The Sims
This one is dual purpose because you can not only create your characters in Create a Sim, but you can design their houses. If you really want to go for it, you can bulldoze all the lots in your town and build your world from scratch.
For checking grammar:
Grammar Girl
Easy to follow definitions and examples, and if you learn better by listening, every article comes with a podcast to follow along with instead.
Grammar Monster
This one is my favourite for checking grammar rules because there’s tons of examples in graphics that helps for any situation.
Reedsy
Among other things, reedsy can connect you to professional editors within your budget.
For writing advice:
One Stop for Writers
This one was recommended from my discord channel and has all sorts of tutorials and resources for the writing craft.
My Blog Directory
Another shameless plug, but if you need writing advice on something specific, you can search through my directory to see if it’s there. If it isn’t, you can always send me an ask about it!
For an alternative to Google Docs:
Ellipsus
Think google docs but without AI. Yay!
(will update this list with any more suggestions or resources I discover 😊)
A great resource
i really respect people who main bucky because he has such a no-nonsense kit that doesn't afford a lot of wiggle room for Cheesin' It™ but at the same time i do feel embarrassed when my team gets wiped by a bucky in the little retro costume. really? me + my beautiful teammates all got reduced to tomato soup concentrate by a guy in a romper and leggings? REALLY?
YOU'RE LETTING BARNACLE BOY PUMMEL YOUR POOR HEALER INTO FISH PASTE???
however when a bucky on MY team has this fit i just feel strangely maternal. whenever something happens to him while i'm supposed to be healing his neon ass i just think
Love having an autistic fiancé with a special interest in coffee because they can make even the cheapest instant coffee taste absolutely fire, they know all the tricks in the book 😤
Share the tips???? Please give your fiancé the keyboard for maybe a minute? Just one? I’m dying to know!!!
Official Autistic Special Interest tips for making your instant coffee not taste like shit:
1. Start by adding your instant coffee to your cup and mixing it with about a tablespoon of cold water. Stir until dissolved and a light crema forms on the surface. Add your sugar at this point as well, it is not going to dissolve in the cold water, this is expected.
2. Boil your water but turn off the kettle/remove from the burner just before it gets to a full rolling boil. If you forget to stop it before this point just let the water cool down for a few minutes before adding it to your cup. When the water reaches a full boil it is too hot which brings out unwanted bitter flavours.
3. Stir in your milk or coffee whitener or creamer or whatever and enjoy!
Now this is still instant coffee we're talking about so it's never going to be as good as drip or freshly brewed coffee would be but it'll make it a hell of a lot more enjoyable!
And bonus general coffee tips -->
☆ If you are finding any coffee you're drinking, whether its instant or not, is still very bitter a way to combat this is by adding a minuscule pinch of salt or a drop of lemon juice to the coffee to cut the bitter taste!
☆ Adjust and experiment with the amount of beans/grinds/instant coffee that you use for your brew, start with whatever amount the package recommends and adjust according to taste! You have free will :D
☆ Also it is super worthwhile to get a coffee grinder and grind whole beans for your brew rather than buying pre-ground coffee, this will automatically up the flavour and give you a fresher tastier cup of coffee ☕
☆ Store your beans/grinds in an airtight container!!! Just trust me on this
☆ Also espresso roast is a scam stop paying more for dark roast 🗣
