Person A: âokay but it would hurt thoughâ
This is both amazing and profoundly irritating - the exact writing equivalent of that thing artists do - you know, how theyâll mess up anything thatâs on expensive paper and planned in every single detail but get them doodling during a boring lesson and suddenly theyâre Michel-bloody-angelo.
What if all this time

What if I am killing

The Monster
***Trigger Warning***
âNo!â Pine shouted to the guards as they yanked a little boy up from the floor. The guards simply laughed and dragged the boy out. Pine watched helplessly as the guards shoved the little boy into the caged stage in the center of the towering room. Then the fighting began.
Pine looked away, trembling. She did not want to see the little boy grotesquely murdered like she had seen with the last victim. When she first saw the fights, she couldnât stop vomiting from the pure horror of it. Now they are simply background noise. Since no one from her group had won yet, the guard simply kept choosing new victims.
Pine looked around at her shabby group and sighed. All around her were children and a few young adults. No one could possibly win against the monsters that were in those cages. Some of the children were crying and some just shaking. Pine tried to get up and comfort the girl closest to her but she was too weak. She had not eaten in days. Instead she crawled over the the misty eyed girl.
âshhâ Pine whispered to the girl. âDonât let them hear you.â The last girl who made too much noise crying was dragged off to who knows where to have who knows what done to her.
The girl grabbed onto Pine and muffled her cries by burying her face into Pineâs ragged shirt. Pine simply rubbed her back and let the girlâs tears soak into her shirt. It was a waste of water. Who knew when they would be given water next.
Behind Pine, the fight was coming to a close. The little boy had lost. It was on to the next group to search for a champion. At least Pine had time before the guards came back to her faction.
The fights continued for hours. There were one or two winners but mostly just death. You could see the relief in the winnerâs eyes as they stepped out of the cage. Even if they were hurt and had to be carried out, they still held their heads high. They would get to go up the upper levels of the room now. The towering room went up for five different levels, all open to look down on the cage. The higher the level, the more majestic it looked. Pine could see what looked like thrones for people to sit and watch the cage on the highest level.
Pine had been in this place for three days now. Each day filled with misery and death. She simply wanted to go back home. Pine longed to go back to her world where places like this were rumors told to misbehaving children to straighten them up. She was from a small village where everyone knew each otherâs names. She had heard stories of other races and people but she always doubted that they were true. Now she didnât doubt them. This place was filled with many different looking people. Some were practically giants with scrunched up faces and horns protruding from their foreheads. Some were tall and skinny with golden features and long flowing hair. Some were dwarfs and some were creatures Pine didnât even know how to describe.
Finally the guards approached again. They were horrifying to look at. Large creatures with several arms and greasy skin, drool dripped down their from their gaping mouths. The opened the cage that housed her group. âWhoâs next?â One of them barked. As they walked around, everyone tried to make themselves look as small as possible. The guards poked some of the captive trying to get a reaction. When they reached Pine and the girl, Pine stared at the ground. One of the guards prodded the girl hanging on the Pine and the girl cried out and grabbed Pine closer.
âThis one will be fun!â The guard exclaimed. Stupid girl, Pine thought. As the guards tried to pry the girl off of Pine, the girl start wailing and held on so tight that her nails bit into Pineâs skin. One of the guards slapped her hard and started cussing at her. âCome on, you little bitch.â Suddenly, the girl fainted. âWhat a cunt.â The guards cursed and threw her to the side. âWe will come back for you later,â one of the guards sneered at the girlâs unconscious body. âThis one will do.â The other guard said as his arms folded around Pine.
Immediately, Pine went into panic mode. She started flailing and heard herself whisper ânot me,â over and over again. Pine could not fight both of the humongous guards. She found herself being dragged closer and closer to the stage. As the guards tossed her in the cage, Pine threw a quick prayer to the nine gods, something she hadnât done in years.
As the guards closed the gate behind her, Pine struggled to stand up. She crouched as the guards threw in a rusty knife to her. Across from her a monster of an opponent stood grinning down at her. âOh,â He said. âI love when they give me girls.â Pine gripped the knife and shivered in despair. My only chance is if I make the first move, Pine thought. She threw herself across the cage aiming the knife to the creatures gut. The creature backhanded her, slamming her into the bars of the cage. He laughed as she tried to stand back up. Pine felt blood drip down her face. She could hear the crowd cheering and laughing above her. The sound vibrated though her bones as she tried to focus on the monster.
âCome on little girl,â the creature bellowed at her. Pine darted around him using her adrenaline to push her forward. She tried to jab him in the leg but he caught her arm and twisted the arm until she heard a crunch. Pine felt hot sharp pain flash through her arm and up her neck. Pine dropped to the floor at the feet of the creature. As tears streamed down her face she grabbed at the floor for her knife. The creature reached down and wrapped his hand around Pineâs neck.
Squeezing, he lifted her straight up into the air. Suddenly the pain in her arm didnât matter as much as the pain of her neck collapsing in on itself. Pine clawed at his arms with her good hand and wheezed as she felt herself dangle in the air. Dark dots started invading Pineâs vision as the monster laughed.
The animal slammed her into the ground and positioned himself right above her. He loosened his grip enough for her to breathe. Pine gasped for air. âNow what do we have here?â He said a happily creepy voice. He sliced her shirt open with her knife and the shoved the knife aside. His free hand started exploring her chest as Pine started to cry again. I donât want to die, Pine thought.
Pine, still gasping for air, shivered as the crowds laughed and whistled above her. As the creatureâs hand went lower, Pineâs good hand scrambled around grasping at anything but only reaching air. Pine knew what was about to happen. She had already seen this happen to other girls and boys in the cage. This creature was well known for his animalistic ways. She searched the crowd for someone, anyone, to stop this. Pine tried to think of anything good in the world as she felt her pants get ripped off.
White hot pain flashed through Pine as the creature forced his way into her. Pine voice cried out in pain but that only cheered to crowd on. Slamming into her over and over again and again, Pine grasped for anything in the world to save her. As the creature grunted, she felt her fingertips brush against the hilt of her rusty knife. Without thinking, Pine mustered all of her strength and stabbed the man in the side of the neck. Pineâs mind was blank as she stabbed him over and over again. Even as she felt his body falls on top of hers and his warm blood cover her she stabbed again and again.
Finally, it was the silence that stopped her. Pine looked up and all she saw was hundreds of people looking down at her. She dropped the blood soaked knife and scrambled to push him off of her. Dead weight was heavy. The back of her mind registered that the crowd had started to cheer again. It started small and then it was thundering throughout the entire hall. Blood ran down her face and her thighs. Her one arm was useless. Pine turned on her side and vomited a mixture of blood and puke. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the cage open and the guards walking towards her.
Pine kept her face down as she was carried out gently. She saw her group get escorted out of their caged area and upstairs. She saw the the happiness on their faces as they cheered her on. Everything was good but Pine couldnât help but think, Iâm the monster now.
The Good Girl
Anna was always a good girl. She always followed directions and never disobeyed. She knew what the consequences were if she was not perfect. Anna knew she had to be sweet and polite. She would practice in front of a mirror to control her facial features. She must look like an innocent little girl to get what Anna needed. Her momma always said, âif you aren't perfect, you can't survive in this worldâ.
Every day at school, Anna would attract the attention of all the males in the school. She was truly beautiful after she covered her face in a mask. Many girls did not like Anna but it's not like Anna needed the girls. It was always quite easy for her to ignore the shunning from her female classmates because human opinions simply didn't matter to her. She did enjoy messing with their minds when she was bored. Let them see something inhuman but then make them believe they were crazy. Anna thinks this is the reason she had to leave her old town. That and the disappearances.
Being human was often quite hard for Anna. Especially at times such as these. You see, Anna is hungry. So very hungry.
Anna knows which male enjoys her presence the most. Anna really wanted to see him more. He could really quite easily solve her problem. Anna, as the sweet girl she is, invited him for a picnic. He, as the polite boy he is, offers to bring something to share. Anna assured him that he is enough, she will provide the rest of the needed items.
As they set off for their picnic, Anna noticed how observant her chosen male is. He asked many questions. Where were they going? Where were the supplies? She simply said it was a surprise. Anna felt accomplished for not lying. The male really liked her dress. Anna could tell her wardrobe choice was much better than last time. Anna must be the perfect, sweet, innocent girl to get what she so desires.
Anna is happy that her male is athletic this time. She won't have to worry about moving as much. Last time, her male did not wish to go far. It was quite a hindrance to her post meal plans. Anna hoped this male would walk with her the whole way to the reservoir.
Anna had been watching this one for quite some time. She, of course, couldn't act too soon upon arriving at a new town. This male enjoyed her presence from the beginning of her stay. Anna thought that this was her longest hunt yet. Four years was quite a while to humans.
As they were walking, Anna wondered if she would miss this male. She did not want to be soft or rather she could not be soft with him but she did spend much time with this boy. She supposed he was a rather nice boy. He had stayed by her side faithfully for some time now. She remembered how this particular male had helped her from the stupid human girls many times. She knew that his heart did not lean towards her body as the other maleâs hearts had but rather her heart and mind. Unfortunately for him, she did not believe she had a heart.
She was distracted for a moment as he started talking to her. Anna did enjoy his voice. It was kind for a human male, she supposed. She wondered if she should really do this. Yet, this was her nature.
She could see her favorite spot in the distance. Actually, when Anna thought about this particular slot, he was the one who originally showed her that secluded patch of paradise. She really would miss that place. She watched her maleâs face light up upon arrival. It truly was a shame.
She admired him as she mentally prepared herself. She breathed in and out simply out of habit. He was so at ease with Anna but he should not be. She wondered how he would react. She hoped it would not be painful for him. Curiously, she had never considered the male's feelings or pain before. As he looked at their tree and admired its leaves, her male had quite an affinity with nature, she let her facade drop. It had been quite a long time since her true face was free. She approached him quietly. Anna really did not want to scare him. She would make this quick out of respect for his friendship to her. Friendship? How did that word come to Anna's brain? Her kind does not have friendships. Suddenly, he turns around. Anna wasn't ready for this. Anna considered running away as her boy stopped and stared.
âWell, I wasn't expecting that.â
Anna stared at her boy in confusion. Quite thickheaded he was. Was he not frighted?
âYou're eyes are stunning, Ann. I mean, woah. It's like the whole sunset was captured in your eyes.â
Anna was surprised. She was hideous. She wondered if he had any sight problems. Her boy turned back around and started pointing to what he often called their tree. Anna wasn't quite sure what he was talking about. Anna did recognize her name within the one-sided conversation quite often but Anna was confused why he sounded happy and not afraid. Annaâs true face had always been met with fear.
In that instance, Anna decided to do something a bit different. She really needed her boy to stop talking.
Anna landed behind him without him even noticing. She gently grabbed him with an inhuman force. He finally stopped talking.
âIt's okay, Vinny,â Anna said to her boy.
âAn?â Her boy sounded a bit frightened.
Anna finally decided to do something new. Anna would not listen to momma anymore. Anna could not be perfect. Anna finally had someone who did not need Anna to be perfect.
Anna pressed her lips to her boy in a way that she had seen human do many times. Anna thought it was quite weird but she could feel her boy tense then relax all at the same time. She could sense that her boy was happy. He seemed to be the happiest she had ever felt from him. Anna hoped that he would be happy with her when he woke up.
Anna was a bit worried. She had only heard rumors of this method but she truly wanted her boy. Anna did not enjoy the pain of ripping her skin but she knew it was necessary. Her boy suddenly struggled when Anna kissed him again to transfer her blood to him. Her male did not seem to enjoy her blood but Anna knew that would soon change. She felt her boy droop into her arms as her blood took effect.
Anna knew she must finish her forbidden actions quickly for it to take effect. Anna was so excited to see her boy wake up. Anna opened her mouth and tasted her boyâs blood for the first time. She truly had been craving him for many years. The taste was sharp and coppery on her tongue like old pennies. Â
Bittersweet Revenge
Gasps rang through the air. Bodies shivered violently. Rust or perhaps even dried blood marked the ground. The sound of chains scraped the hallway. The pain was numb at that point.
âHey.....â A raspy voice sounded. Fingers touched my shoulder. âWake up.... You you canât sleep.â Â Fingers jabbed my side. It hurt to even turn my head. His face appeared slowly out of the gloom. It was a beautiful light of life shining through the darkness. Fingers gently tapped my cheek. âAre you awake yet?â I nodded slowly to avoid as much pain as possible.
âCome on we gotta move.â Hands drag me to my feet. The first step is a painful failure. Shards raced from my knees up but the rough hand pulled me forward again. We stumbled through the halls. The chain dragged behind us. Bodies laid everywhere. The smell was revolting. Abruptly we stopped. I could feel his shivering turn to the violent shaking of a beast attempting to hold itself back. One word and I knew what he saw in the piles of bodies.
âEmily.â
I couldn't look. I could hear his heart breaking. His sister was gone. The last of his family. He sank to the floor pulling me down with him. His shaking turned to sobs as he clung to me. It was almost as if he was the little-lost boy in the park again. As I watched my love weep and my best friend lay mutilated in a pile of corpses, my blood boiled. This senseless war which never even touched the ones who started it took everything from us. I couldn't stand it. We had to bare so much! The injections, the tests, and the deaths. All for nothing. My vision started to cloud with red but my mind had never been clearer. They wanted us to be weapons but we refused for the longest time. I could feel myself shaking. My head hurt, my stomach hurt but I didn't care. Everything was hot. My hands were burning.
I need to get revenge. I need to get revenge. I need to get revenge.
Steam flowed from my face. My body was on fire. The heat coiled up inside me burst forth into the world. I did it! They will all die by their own weapon!
As the world disintegrated around me all I could hear was my laughter dancing among the flames. I could feel the metal of the chain melting into my skin. It was unbearable but it didnât matter as long as I got revenge for him.
HIM. He was still alive. Oh god, what did I do? Lungs wheezing I crawled through the rubbage searching for my love. My hands were bleeding and I couldn't feel my leg anymore. My head was hot, so very hot. My vision blurred but at last, I saw his hair. âAxel, Axel answer me please!â I crawled closer and grabbed on to him. I would never let go again! âAxelâ I screamed over the roar of the fire. I tugged but he was stuck under a beam. Finally, his eyelashes flicked and I got to see his mesmerizing eyes one last time. âVictor.â He whispered almost oblivious to the pain that had to be racking his body. Our hands automatically found one another. âEm is free now. I'm going to meet her.â Tears rushed down my face. No. No. No. We were finally free. âDon't cry, Drew. I will always love you.â His voice became quieter and quieter. âI won't leave you,â I screamed as my vocal cords burned along with my universe. He smiled gently and left my world forever.

The Witch
I became what I am today at the age of twelve. You see, I was quite a vulgar and confident child. My philosophy was that I was the best at everything so why shouldnât I be confident.
It all started with a certain rumor. This rumor that a witch lived in the forest near my village had been around for many years. The adults used to say they would send us to the witch whenever we did something wrong. Many children grew up in fear. Yet, I was confident that I would never get caught by her.
It started with my friends. We were wandering the fields after school one day. They were quite silly. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was proclaiming how I was going to be king of the world. They found it funny. âYou canât even go near the witch!â I could! So I told them. We started throwing punches, naturally near the river. I lost and got soaked as well. Only because they teamed up on me. âIâll prove that I can trick her and get something of hers!â They still didnât believe me! So I went to find her.
I didnât find her until many hours later. It was late and there was no moon. She laughed when she saw me. I believe she already knew what I came to do. So, she asked what I was here for. I said I was a wandering traveler. She invited me inside. I was surprised at how normal it looked. Although she had a gigantic bowl of water in the middle of the corner. She also had a raging fire in the hearth. On the walls, there were many paintings of the forest and even some of my village. She seemed so pleased that I couldnât understand why she was called a witch. She offered me some water and I graciously accepted. While I started drinking, she started talking. I donât particularly remember what she was talking about. This was the point that everything started to become foggy, but I do remember what she said last.
âI donât like little children that lie to me.â
Then I believe I blacked out. Itâs all a blur... When I woke up, I was very confused. Everything seemed to be distorted. I couldnât move as I used too. In fact, as time goes on I have a hard time even remembering what it was like.
It took me a long time to understand what she had done to me. I finally understood why she had the bowl of water.
Cold
The first thing Scarlett felt was the freezing, hard ground. She thought it was quite in uncomfortable compared to her bed. The second thing Scarlett felt was a damp breeze which caressed her body. This was when she started to realize she was not at home in her room. As Scarlett started to wake up, she noticed many things were very wrong. She was cold and her limbs were sore in a way that she did not recognize. It was hard for her to move at first. Her body felt slow and heavy. It was as if she was stuck in Jello.
It seemed as if a lot of time had passed. Slow thundering footsteps approached in a menacing manner. She could bodies drifting all around her. At one point, her body left the ground and started to move swaying almost violently. She felt the breeze start to almost slice through her like butter. The cold seeped into her bones. Doors slammed open and bursts of air stormed through her. She was freezing to say the least. Scarlett just wanted it to stop. Then, as if her prayers were answered, it did.
She was back on a hard surface. Heavy cold metal enclosed over her ankles, clinking softly. Footsteps slowly left her earshot. Scarlett could feel the cold sucking the warmth from her body. Metal scraped the ground followed by a slam that shook Scarlett's entire existence. She felt a roar of heat burst up around her starting to consume her. She was alone.
The Real Me
I am alone. Continuously spiraling through the darkness. Introverted forced to be an extrovert. Walking through the halls smiling politely to the voices swirling through the spaces. Unwanted attention is worse than no attention but no attention only adds to my loneliness. Friends are a joke most of the time. Groups talk about anything while I stand and smile in the background. That's all I'll ever be. I am the cornerstone to many things but it seems as if I will never be recognized.
Most of the time, I am angry. Yet, you could never tell. My anger is a volcano simmering waiting for the right moment. This scares me. I can't let go of my emotions. I must keep my poker face. Sadness, anger, and jealousy boil inside of me constantly. I am selfish. Not worth the time that anyone spends on me. Disgustingly lazy and annoying. I don't want to be alone but it is in everyone's best interest to leave me alone.
I am in a dark place where colors and light are a thing of the past. My life is nothing compared to others. I would be willing to do anything to save someone else. I do not fear death, not that I want to die but more that I know that eventually, I will. However, if my death saves another life then it is worth it. Others before me.
Yet, I put on such an elaborate facade. I am happy, bubbly, and excited. It is quite a lot of work. There are many times that the facade starts to drop. Then the little-scared child comes out. I've been called bipolar and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. My thoughts are constantly scrambled, as you can probably already tell. If people saw the real me they would run away screaming. People already call me a freak and various other derogatory words. They might be right.
Let me say one more thing before I go. This is the real me but you would never know. Everyone is a liar and rightly so. Societal standards cause dishonesty from such a young age nowadays. Don't trust anyone and don't let them trust you.
First
I was on my way to my first day of school. I was so excited! I knew today would change my life. My outfit was super cute, too! I had on the sweetest dress ever and of course, my ugg boots. My long caramel hair was piled on top of my head in the most adorable braid and my make up highlighted my green eyes. I would definitely turn heads today.
As I approached the school, I could feel the excitement bubbling up in me. This was it. I was finally here! I had trained so much for this! The bright school soon loomed over me. The windows sparkled and the white paint was almost blinding. I'm here.
Other students milled around me talking to their friends. I could feel eyes following me from behind and I could hear the whispering as I passed. Everything was going well. All I needed to find was him.
I headed to the office to get my schedule. I glanced around trying to figure out the best time to find him. I scanned the crowds searching for the perfect one but I couldn't find him. I continued my March as fast as I could. I was almost attracting too much attention. There was no point in the attention if I couldn't find him.
A couple of girls tried to talk to me, bless their hearts, but I have no need for females. I smiled sweetly and kept walking. I was getting closer and closer to him, I could feel it. As the sun disappeared, I finally passed into the school. Then I saw him.
He was beautiful. Everything I had imagined. He would be the change I needed. This was it. I was so shocked I stumbled over to him in a frenzy. In my rush, I tripped over my feet and fell flat on my face. My face was as red as a lobster. I made a mistake. Was this too much for me? Could I truly do this? I started to get up when I felt a hand on my arm pulling me forward. I glanced up and there he was. He was perfect as he smiled gently down at me. Finally, the one to change my life. The first boy I would ever kill.
Some Things Should Be Left Alone
May decided not to move today. What was the point. She would only get about a foot if she truely worked hard. She knew her time was coming. May was not a fool.
When May was shot, she hadnât even really felt it. She didnât seem to really what was going on as disaster erupted around her. She remember her friends screaming and rushing around frantically. Someone helped her to the floor. Or maybe she fell. Either way, here she is.
From where she lay, she could see several bodies laying all around her. As she felt her life oze out of her she supposed it was a muricale she was still alive. Yet, it was more of a mirical she did not want. May finally decided. She really should not have poked the sleeping giant.
