like, agatha no longer identified with the chaos and drama of being a wizard and chose to give up her magic and live normally while simon only ever knew that chaos and convinced himself that his magic saved him so well that he doesn’t know what to do when he can’t use it anymore

they goth grew up with heavy expectations on them, whether by nature or nuture (simon being the chosen one and agatha being his girlfriend) and dealt with it in similar yet completely different ways

agatha refused to bend to those expectations and sought out her own future on her own in an unfamiliar place while simon stuck by the two people he trusted most and tried to find comfort in a past that didn’t fit into his future anymore

they both actively tried avoiding the roots of their problems in an effort to convince themselves that they were doing fine
