Finally got around to putting on paper my hc for the horse the player uses, mostly because I wanted to work with the fact that it can spawn and despawn
Explanations under the cut because they ran a bit long
On a basic level, the horses are truly a type of summoned spirit, bonded to their summoner (though not permanently, they can be traded around) as they grow stronger. When reaching the peak of their current state, a summoner may attempt to help their steed reach the next stage- at risk of it backfiring.
For an explanation of each tier:
Tier 1, Physical Shell: colloquially also referred to as the "egg" phase, this is the youngest stage of the spirit. When summoned, the more fragile magical body of the steed is protected by dirt, rocks and some dust from the area of summoning (as such, they have the more visual variation as it is dependent of the geology of where it has been summoned). The physical material makes them trade speed for strength and that, plus the relative ease of acquiring one, makes them reliable for farmwork. Another characteristic is the lack of eyes, relying instead on their rider and their connection to the earth for direction. Inspired by the Suffolk Punch breed.
Tier 2, Hatched: Referred as such for outgrowing the need for a physical shell to protect them, these steeds are made purely of magical energies, allowing them to achieve greater speeds. Being still young, these energies are chaotic and mixed among themselves, giving the spirit their characteristic shadowy look. Presence of different elemental affinities may slightly affect their appearance, be it by giving them a subtle sheen to their coat or by changing the look and/or flow of the mane, which will be usually kept in future stages. While there has been no evidence of presence of Corruption, Decay, or Shadow magic in their make up, their dark appearance have caused many to consider them ill omens. Inspired by the Percheron breed.
Tier 3, Purification: As they mature, and with help from their summoner, the steed will begin to refine its own magical essence, normally leaning more into their native Light. While called the "purification" stage (thanks to the wrongful beliefs regarding the Hatched), this process is more akin to a young animal shedding their baby coat in favor of their adult appearance. Inspired by the Andalusian breed.
Tier 4, Light: Sought after for their ethereal beauty and incredible speed, spirits that have reached this stage are quite expensive. Having reached full maturity, their body is now comprised of pure Light. Their etherealness is not only visual, as they now do not have to worry for physical things such as "wind resistance" or "difficult terrain". Inspired by the Akhal Teke breed.
I highkey have a problem where after I complete a wynncraft quest I forget everything that just happened which makes me start grinding and not doing the story which in turn takes longer for me to get to the actual lore 😔
