The spider descends from her web only to place herself on the cold, familiar arm of a throne. The king is there, but she pays him no mind and simply crosses one leg over the other, resting her elbow on her knee and her hand against her cheek. While she still refuses to join his so-called scourge, the cold is familiar and his constant banter is amusing at times, if nothing else.

Another day, another mission. It was much more remote this time around, however. Not that the assassin cared much. Location mattered little. All she cared about was the hunt. She felt it had become an addiction in some ways. She found herself more and more eager to kill, and more agitated when she had down time. Regardless, she had been enjoying herself out on the field once again.

That was until she took a sharp left hook during a scuffle and had to retreat. Normally she would have shaken it off and kept fighting, but this time, the other had managed to hit her in a very particular place. Her vision began to blur and fizzle and at times she was completely lacking sight. While her artificial eyes helped her quite a bit, they did have the downside of being artificial. Technical difficulties did occur on occasion.

Annecy was across the world at this point and any Talon operative that could pick her up and take her back to HQ wouldn’t arrive for several days, if they would have even been allowed to pick her up. Don’t come back unless the job is finished. A saying that had been drilled into her head from the beginning. Although, things like this were a rare occurrence. Would they allow her to deviate from her mission to get her eyes repaired? Was it worth looking into? Probably not.

There was, however, a familiar acquaintance nearby. A doctor, in fact. Former Overwatch agents were constantly being tracked, their locations were always on her radar. Some hunted, some simply watched. The latter was the case for Doctor Ziegler. For now, anyway. The assassin showed up well after the sun had set, having stayed inside for most of the day. Sunlight only further agitated her injury.

          “ Doctor? ”

I live with a family of strangers. Because of this when anything goes wrong in the home it is blamed on me and I'm left to do deal with it. Everyone else knows each other, gets things for each other, and leaves me out whenever possible. I try so hard to include them though since when I don't I'm the bad guy and it's all so stressful...

Yes. Just LEAVE. If you don’t like the situation you’re in, REMOVE yourself from it. Just like that innocent girl who ONLY wanted to dance and start a family with her loving husband was able to LEAVE those fluorescent lights and needles and angry voices and sleepless nights and endless experiments. Just like she was able to REMOVE herself from the pain, the torture, the emotional trauma.

Eventually, she didn’t WANT to leave.
