//I gave up on keeping anything from the original incarnation of this blog. I made a lot of good memories here and had a great time but I’ve come a long way as a writer and roleplayer since this blog was originally made and looking back on how ... bad so much of what I wrote was is just too painful.

Besides, a mostly-clean start is better anyways.

Better to ensure she got somewhere safer than to abandon her to find her way alone. (Besides, where did she come from that she seemed so confused? It was curious and fascinating, and if he were in a better place, if he didn’t have to be prepared to fight or flee at every moment, he’d ask more about her to try and sort out her mystery. But he wasn’t, and so he didn’t.)

“...We’ll have to go quietly. And if I tell you to run or to hide, please listen. It could mean your life.”

Not if she was a human - it was dangerous to be out in some of these environments if you were a human, let alone without the proper protective gear. (And not to mention the other threats that could be lurking, just waiting for the opportunity to cause harm.)

“I shouldn’t?” Oh. Oh dear. Where HAD she managed to end up? She was going to have to use her lodestone, wasn’t she? Dammit. “Ah…I’m afraid I’ve no idea where I’m going, apologies.” She was going to hear about this one from her uncle, she just knew it.

Whoever this human was, she really wasn’t from around here. Any human should know when they were venturing too close to the red-zone - the biodome project was doing well, more and more land and clean air reclaimed every day, but they were still so small, and the human population couldn’t risk getting too close to the danger zones.

Which was one reason it was better to linger out here. The red-zones weren’t safe for anyone long-term, but for the short term? Environmental damage was nothing compared to any lives that might be lost if he strayed too near others, until something could be done about ---

Well.

Some things were too painful to bear thinking about, at least when he had a convenient distraction in the shape of someone that maybe, just maybe, he could help.

“You really shouldn’t,” he said, nodding. “The atmospheric purifiers’ range doesn’t extend very far past this point. You’re better off staying in the main habitation zone - there’s more to see there, anyway.”

Maybe he could escort her back? If he was quick and quiet about it, then it might not draw unwanted attention...
