reblog if you’re anti censorship and against harassing real people over fictional characters
Fandom Problem #14,979:
As someone who hates incest ships with a lot of passion, what I hate even more is how fandom diluted the term incest just to mean any ship or dynamic they don't like.
Childhood friends to lovers? Incest.
Characters who knew each other since they were younger and grew up together? Incest.
Characters who live together? Incest.
Friends who refer each other as bros in a friendly slang? Incest.
Adult characters with an age gap? Incest.
Found family? Incest.
Hell, any platonic dynamic, especially between an male character and female character? Incest, incest, incest!
At this point it just makes it harder to tell if the ship is actually incest or just fandom looking for an excuse to hate a ship under the guise of being morally correct for not liking it.
Or Found Family = Incest except for the designated "Mom and Dad" of the group who are the only ones you're allowed to ship because everyone else is their kids. Because that is totally how found family works and it doesn't matter whether the "kids" are actually old enough to be their kids or not.
Tails: "Do you think we'll be able to play with Emerl again?"
Also Tails: "Hey, lets make Emerl's possible reincarnation Cream's butler and not give him any ability to form bonds with us!"
Exactly!
Like, the way Gemerl is characterized in IDW and Chaotix Casefiles just doesn't make any logical sense.
Ironically, Gemerl's appearance back in the Archie comics was much more authentic to the way it'd make sense for him to be portrayed.
This is honestly so much closer to the way I think it'd make sense for Gmerl to be written.
It's crazy how Ian Flynn will initially get something right, only to then change his mind and start writing it wrong. Like, he realized he was ACCIDENTALLY authentic and faithful to the video games, and deliberately changed it to be unfaithful and different instead on purpose. Because he hates Sonic.
I'm pretty sure that's just because Gemerl in Reboot Archie was being used as a stand-in for Shard the Metal Sonic since Flynn wasn't allowed to use him anymore. Shard (probably not coincidentally) has the same color scheme and a similar personality to this.
At the very least a lot of people thought that was what he was doing at the time Gemerl first appeared in the reboot.
the forced nuclear family-fication of fictional characters in fandom is crazy. that's not a parent and child, they are literally peers. and friends. they are friends who see each other as peers. that is not his child.
Fandom Problem 3649: “I love this character but she got done so dirty by the writers and she deserves so much better! Here’s how she should be written!” *reduces/ forces them into a perfect girlboss who can do no wrong*

Reblogging because wow. What a resource.
The Kingdom Hearts 2FM secret ending is the greatest four minute sequence in the franchise. She had everything. A cool action sequence, mysterious new characters, fuel for absolutely insane speculation, an incomparable musical composition by Yoko Shimomura, and of course.
Mickey Mouse appearing at the end to make the video impossible to show to regular people
I remember someone managed to recreate this entire scene shot for shot in MikuMikuDance with Touhou characters. It was really impressive, but also kind of hilarious.
Fandom Problem #12,582:
I hate when fandoms of a franchise (let's say for example of a game or action figure franchise) start praising inaccurate adaptations like shows or comics and they can't do it without dunking on the source material.
*coughcough*SonicTheHedgehog"fans"*cough*
i'm going to say something insane. i think the overall pronounced fandom cultural slide away from complex plotty violent work and towards kidfic and coffee shops AUs and cozy domestic romcoms is a symptom of fascism.
okay actually this is a great phrase for it
Reblogging this for the term "neopastoralism", because I think that's fantastic.
Coffee shop AUs are, like... fine. They're not my thing, but they're hardly going to end the world. We don't need to have a moral panic about people enjoying coffee shop AUs. I'm also not about to come for anyone seeking escapism in the current hellscape.
However, I do think it's interesting to examine the tendency within these AUs to project a sort of idyll onto the coffee shop: here is a whimsical place where you can spend time with your friends and potentially meet your true love; here is a world where the greatest dilemma you may face is choosing the right coffee syrup for a new beverage or sneaking your number onto that to-go cup without being obvious.
The fantasy of the coffee shop AU is divorced almost entirely from the reality of an actual coffee shop. There are no abusive, creepy customers or bosses; there is no mention of the barista's wages; we don't see the dishwasher sweating at their station, the cashiers' aching feet; the person whose job it is to clean the (customer-only?) toilets. These topics are Political and Depressing and Must Be Avoided, because Political and Depressing things are antithetical to this kind of escapism.
The coffee shop AU exists, not in a world without capitalism (because this is a setting where commerce is actively happening) but in a world where capitalism has no teeth: a world where capitalism somehow works. In order to be convinced and soothed by this fantasy, you must suspend your disbelief and avert your eyes. You must filter the coffee shop through a neopastoralist lens.
To me, there's something very uncanny about it.
Coffee shop AU can be used as a backdrop of a much larger story being played outside of it. you could have a CS AU where the world genuinely sucks, people are terrible, and sometimes the ugliness of the outside world finds it's way in. A coffee date being derailed by a homophobic relative. Arguments being had. Things falling apart. There needs to be balance between hurt and comfort. Crack and fluff. Without bitterness, we would all be dead from too much sweets. Bitterness must exist to make the tender parts more meaningful. You cannot live on whipped cream alone, you need bitter coffee and contrast.
I once read a Coffee Shop AU that was also a Superhero AU, where one half of the couple was a Good Cop who was a regular at the coffee shop near the precinct and the other half was a barista working there who's secret identity was a vigilante that the cop regularly ran into on the job. That was fun.
video game series where multiple prosecutors were 17 or younger when they started and the defense attorney for this case is 18: don't you have to be 20 to be forklift certified
And then there's Franziska, who was 13 when she passed the Bar.
Kind of loathe how whenever there's talk of some platform banning NSFW content the discussion always jumps to "this is bad because the people who institute these rules think queerness is inherently NSFW!" and it's like yeah but also I think you should be outraged regardless of the slippery slope argument. Because I do think NSFW hetslop should also be able to exist
I know, but it's potentially the only way to get the people on the left who refuse to do anything because "This is good actually because Porn Bad and Yucky" to maybe listen and care about this issue.
This is literally Persona 5 Strikers, which is ironic given that Persona 5 was anything but this.
Bringing this back because I see it in SO. MUCH. SHIT.
I still cackle at Sonic Forces for blatantly doing this. Zero (Infinite) watched Shadow murder his squad, his *family*, and later on in the game at the final battle Sonic calls him a loser and tells him he was beaten because he lacks heart, soul, and the bonds of friendship.
I get that he had no way of knowing since Shadow's not in the habit of listing all the people he kills (especially to Sonic), but still, tone deaf as fuck, big blue.
Now, I'm saying this as someone who herself wrote an AU with sympathetic Infinite who gets a redemption arc (based on the old "Gadget and Infinite were friends before he became Infinite" concept that was popular back when Forces first came out), but sorry. No.
In canon, Infinite did not give a single flying fuck about the Jackel Squad other than their defeat being a blow to his ego. There is zero evidence otherwise. He is not an example of the scenario this comic describes.
Now that we have Super Amy, the next mission I want Sonic Team to focus on is giving us Super Tails, Super Knuckles, and Super Amy as real Chaos Emerald transformation Super Forms and not just the character with sparkly sparkles.
Typically, you only get a For Realsies Super Form if you're the central character that a Sonic game revolves around. When the story is about you, that's when you get to power up and go Super for the final act.
Am I proposing that I want three separate Sonic games that center Tails, Knuckles, and Amy respectively as the central Spotlight Characters around whom the narrative bends?
Yes. Yes, that is what I am proposing. Do that.
Where did this fandom get the idea that the only "Real" super forms are gold/yellow? Tails and Knuckles didn't turn yellow when they went Super in S3&K and that didn't make them any less Super. Shadow turns white when he goes Super. Are you going to tell me that Super Shadow isn't really super now?
Shadows beef with tails is entirely one sided and id been trying to find a logical reasoning for it until now and it just ocurred to me:
Its disgust. A disgust for himself, because tails is a version of himself he never got to be.
Don't you think you're taking a meme a little too seriously? Shadow doesn't actually hate Tails. He's just knocked him aside for getting in his way a few times in various adaptations. The only time they've ever actually fought was in Sonic Battle, and that's a fighting game, so of course all the playable characters are going to fight each other at some point. Otherwise, Shadow and Tails seem to get along fine when they interact.
Seriously, it's not that deep.
I honestly hate this so much and find it so annoying.
This is like if someone made fanart of Goku Vegeta and Gohan struggling in arm wrestling against Yamcha. Amy is not anywhere near as strong as them.
The only person Amy is beating at arm wrestling is fucking Cream the rabbit
You people don't actually like Amy Rose for who she is. If you liked Amy Rose you wouldn't be drawing her being capable of shit that she isn't in the actual source material. If you liked Amy Rose you'd be drawing fanart that's actually authentic to who she is as a character.
You don't know what you're talking about.
Amy rose possesses high physical capabilities, Specially strength. Although not as physically strong as knuckles she has shown to be strong enough to accidentally sent him flying. In the comics there are moments in which even Sonic and silver are impressed by her raw strength.
She might lack superhuman abilities but she's definitely stronger physically than Sonic in normal form and tails.
And these are just a few examples because I'm too lazy to look up for more. But you can find them yourself if you'd like.
Please observe how his supposed evidence is a fucking fandom wiki page (no sources linked in the wiki page btw) and a panel from the comic. And NOT anything from THE VIDEO GAMES. There is no evidence from THE VIDEO GAMES, which are THE SOURCE MATERIAL.
I rest my case.
If you read the site and watched all the media that portrays her you would know all the examples cited are things that happened either in the games, tv shows or comics. Like for example the wiki mentions that one time in Sonic generations when Amy literally stamped knuckles into a tree. Do you remember that or do you not know anything even from the games?
Also the IDW comics are canon. This is confirmed by Sonic official on YT, Tails tube mentions the character"Jewel" and the existence of the " restoration HQ" from the comics and The mention of Tangle in Sonic frontiers.
Either way if you choose to only take into account the games. How do you know the author of that comic (that you didn't even credited btw) wasn't being inspired by the comics ? She's clearly strong there too. She's equally strong in the games and tv shows. As long as she's carrying that hammer of hers without breaking a sweat and fighting with it with ease then you know she's strong. Definitely stronger than tails. Quite possibly stronger physically than Sonic, even. Definitely able to give knuckles a satisfactory match.
I won't do the work of researching more for you. A simple search should do to confirm everything written by me or the wiki. Please if you are still convinced I'm wrong show proof that what I'm saying isn't true.
Amy was only able to knock Knuckles into a tree in Sonic Gens because it's a slapstick comedy moment. No one thinks when a tsundere in a 90s anime punts her love interest into the stratosphere for accidentally looking up her skirt, that means she must have super strength.
Also, Tangle getting name dropped in a piece of throwaway dialogue doesn't mean IDW is canon to the games. It just means a version of Tangle exists in the games. Just like Amy namedropping Sticks just means there's a version of Sticks hanging around somewhere.
The IDW comics have been confirmed Canon. Where and by who you can search for yourself I'm not doing that again.
Also when a character has a hammer that is kinda big for the character's size, is able to destroy robots made of hard metal and this character is able to handle this hammer without breaking a sweat and make powerful moves and all that. You kinda believe they have some good strength in those arms.
Also when they do this
And those weights she's wearing shake the whole screen when they fall. You'd think she's strong. That that's what the writer of the game wants you to believe.
And if the writers of the franchise keep making her strong in comics and tv shows where they have more time to make characters shine as opposed to games even though some of them might not be canon, a normal person would think hey maybe she's strong!
Also this isn't anime dude (in the anime they made Sonic x she was able to do even crazier things but that we can all agree is not canon) she didn't send him to space she knocked him into a nearby tree, a pretty feasible feat for somebody who carries a big hammer around all day and destroys several hard metal robots with it. and even if it was a moment of comedy then why haven't we seen any of the characters suddenly make any similar moves? I think all the other characters seem to follow a strict power set to me. You won't see Cream, for example, crazily tearing off a robot with his bare hands just cuz he was angry and it would look funny in the games.
The IDW comic was not confirmed canon. I know exactly what you're referring to, and they didn't confirm shit. That was a mistranslation on the part of the interpretor. Just like the "Two Worlds" thing. Ian Flynn has said reatedly that the comics are not canon to the games.
Amy wearing weights that are heavier than Cream was expecting doesn't mean she's got super strength. It's also a comedy scene, so the screen shaking is probably an exageration, or just intended to signal to the player that she dropped them since it's a visual novel style cutscene and there fore has nothing to do with how heavy they actually are. Even if it's not, it still doesn't prove she's capable of matching Knuckles. Neither does her being able to use her hammer to smash badniks since everyone in the cast can do that. And it really doesn't matter if writers for spinoffs keep making her stronger than she should be since that stuff isn't canon.
The fact she still needs her hammer to smash badniks when everyone else, including Cream and Charmy, can do it without a weapon should say something, though.
Also, the games are a Japanese made product. Anime tropes show up in Japanese games all the time, so don't get semantic with me.
I honestly hate this so much and find it so annoying.
