Honestly, the way a lot of the fandom interprets Sadie does bug me because all too often it completely ignores that she's a deeply broken woman.

I see a lot of comments about how Sadie's so hot and badass, and while she certainly is beautiful and tough and competent, she's also a recently bereaved widow, who loved her husband more than anyone in the world. She's traumatised not only by his murder right in front of her, but by the implied sexual assault that ensued in the aftermath.

Her home was burnt to the ground along with everything in it. Her whole life was ripped away in a moment leaving her with absolutely nothing besides a wedding ring and her own bittersweet memories.

RDO show us she's kinda always been prickly and distrusting, and isn't very sociable. She isolates herself from the gang, and truthfully doesn't care for most of its members. She only forms real friendships with a select few -- Abigail, mainly, and Arthur -- one of whom dies, and the other she loses contact with for several years. For the most part, Sadie is utterly alone.

Sadie admits to being passive suicidal and that is why she's so reckless in her pursuit of revenge; part of her hopes she'll get herself killed so that the nightmare will be over and she can see her Jake again. It's made clear to the audience that hunting down and killing the last of the O'Driscoll Boys did nothing to ease her pain. In the back of her mind, she still looks forward to death.

So yes, she's cool. But Sadie Adler did not go through all that just to be reduced to a sexy girlboss in the eyes of the fandom. Rant over ✌️

I appreciate every single person who has ever liked, commented, reblogged and/or bookmarked my fics, but especially those who show love to the stories that feature my original characters.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand why the OC fics tend to be overlooked in favour of those with canon characters and ships, and I'm really glad people enjoy those I've written! But there's an extra special bit of validation when folks read and enjoy the characters and storylines I dreamt up myself :3

Latest issue of this local magazine is celebrating the ban on greyhound racing and promoting the rehoming of ex-racers as pets 💛 ...sooooo naturally, I've been spamming my sister with pictures of all the skinnies!! :3

Also I don't think I've ever seen a 2-page poster type spread in this magazine before but they did that. Just for these good doggos. And I love to see it.

Trauma is weird. Like, when you manage to repress the memories so much you almost start to trick yourself that it was just some crazy bad dream. Only to be struck out of nowhere with the very vivid recollection that no. That actually happened to me :(

yay, a kieran request! hope this was okay, enjoy!

Kieran is a soft boy, he’s very cautious about his feelings especially when he’s worried that the whole gang basically looks down on him

that’s why he is super nervous about his sudden feelings for Mary-Beth

she, on the other hand, is a bit more straightforward

offering sweet comments to him, admiring his braids in the horse tails, and suggesting they go for a ride together

it takes Arthur’s intervention for Kieran to realise that Mary-Beth reciprocates the attraction

“Are you blind, boy? Everyone knows she been tryin’ to get your attention.”

naturally, Kieran is flustered by this

he decides he should be a gentleman and ask her on a real date, treat her like the lady she is

big on respect

Kieran’s big move is offering her a wildflower he picked, stammering as he asks her out to the theatre

Mary-Beth is ecstatic, and she makes sure to thank Arthur for it later

The shows are something neither of them have really had the chance to visit, so it is an eye-opening experience for both of them

awed by the sights, Mary-Beth almost doesn’t notice the warm hand shakily sliding into hers

reassuring him, she squeezes his hand in her own and Kieran’s whole world lights up

they’re the cutest couple, so much so that everyone in the gang groans at the sight of their PDA

lots of riding together, sharing the one horse and pointing out new beautiful spots to rest

she helps Kieran become more accepted into the group, and brings him out of his shell

he introduces her to being genuinely cared for, always having someone looking out for her to keep her happy - not like the gang does, but instead in a more pure way

the couple definitely gets gloating from Arthur about how he “played cupid” and should be deemed responsible for their love story
