It all started in 1976. You were fresh to Hawkins. Little you walked right into kindergarten with your pigtails decorated with bows and, your special occasion red lip gloss your mom let you wear. As innocent as ever. Although you were new you carried yourself with confidence., you weren’t embarrassed of your music taste, your family, and neither your interests. That quickly made you friends with the popular kids and the geeks. Will, Dustin, Mike and Lucas became your friends very quickly. As recess hit you made you way to the playground and started having fun. “Ouch!” Your eyes followed the sound and hit Mike. He had burnt his hand on the hot slide. “This will make you feel better” little you says as you plant a kiss on his hand, you had seen you mom do it plenty of times to you and your siblings. “thanks” he says blushing. When he got home h didn’t realize the kiss stayed. But it caught the attention of his mom dad and Nancy. Mike started rambling about his new friend y/n. “Aww did the sweetheart give you that kiss”

The names stuck with you for the rest off your adolescence. Whenever you walked into the wheelers home you were greeted as sweetheart. Once middle school hit the nickname put a rift into your guys friendships. Two kids in puberty and everyone refers to you as his sweetheart.

Highschool came and went. After saving the world and loosing one of your best friends you needed a break from Hawkins. Yours and Dustin’s farewell to college party was a hard time for everyone. It came and went and when you were packing up the gifts getting ready to make your way home Mike approached you with a box of treats an a bag. “Here its from me” you received the gift and but the chocolate covered strawberries with sweetheart displayed on them catches your eye. “Aww Mike im still your sweetheart” you say grabbing his cheek. But, he flicks it off “What no my mom made them, in the bag there are snacks for the trip because you think your better now that your leaving” that shocked you. He had never once muttered a word like that to you. Sure he got into moods but never like this “What Mike_” “No don’t start go leave since none of us meant anything to you. Because your whole life is ahead of you you’ve never even fit in with us we were just too nice to ignore you, go hangout with you popular friends in college. Hopefully they find out sweetheart is just a bitch before they start to like you. ‘

Yikes your last words with one of your best friends were practically the meanest words you had ever heard. For the first months of college after that were brutal. But if you were at Harvard you were gonna make a time out of it. Enjoying whoever and whatever you wanted. Your dark eyes and long black hair could get you anything you’d wanted in Hawkins but here you became a women. A godess practically. Who would have thought small town you would be apart of a sorority. But as you enter Hawkins ready to attend the late New Year’s party you and your old friends planned you cant help but wonder what would happen. Sure you had kept in touch with your friends but not Mike Wheeler. You didn’t care though. You’ve met so much taller muscular and confident men. You anxiously tapped your driving wheel pulling into the Sinclairs residents. You Max and the now of age Erica planned to get ready together.

“What do you think” you say walking out the bathroom showing your outfit to the girls. “Holy Shit you look good!” Erica says spinning you around. “Yes you looking amazing, but do you think Hawkins is ready for this um outfits” Max says giggling. “ I dont know but they better get used to this” you say laughing along. Your black mini dress with boots wouldve been. A casual outfit back at Harvard but here it was a fashion statement. You guys make your way down the fairs ready to face everyone ‘Shit everyone is already here how long did we take to get ready” you say as you guys make your way down the stairs “ A long fucking time” Will says engulfing you into a hug. “Holy shit Y/N what did Harvard do pump hormones into you” Dustin says with his jaw on the floor. He still had his same smile. “ I wish I had to work for this ass” “Let’s go grab some drinks what are we waiting for” Lucas says ushering you guys into the backyard.

“Five shots right ?” Will says as he starts pouring “ And no Erica you still aren’t getting one” Erica gave her meanest side eye to that. “Wait only five how could you forget about me” Just that instance the most handsomest guy made his way into view. Tall, skinny, puppy eyes, and your favorite that damn nose. once you eyes met his face became unreadable. “Mike your sweethearts here!” Dustin screams shaking you. Mike broke contact, red pigment creeping up his cheeks. Nope he was still the same awkward nerd. “H-hey y/n” he says going in for a hug but,instead you offer your hand. He takes it confused.

The rest of the night went by fast full of shots, dancing and awkward interactions with Mike. You couldn’t live the rest of your life giving him the cold shoulder. You started small talk and somehow he ended up escorting you to the bathroom. “No your voice was horrible you sounded like a vocal cord was ripped out of your throat ” “Oh really sure my puberty voice was bad but lets no forget you wore bows until freshman year god knows how you didn’t get bullied.” He says opening the bathroom door for you only for the handle to fall of its hinges. “Shit the other bathrooms are full Mike can you hold the door for me” “um yea sure” he says closing the door. You didn’t want to miss out on the fun going on downstairs so you hurriedly take a piss, wipe yourself and start washing your hands. “Wait Mike do remember the time that” you say laughing as Mike opens the door. Eyes optimistic as ever. “Holy shit y/n” he whisper shouts pressing his body against the door. You feel his hands on you pulling down your dress? Holy shit you forgot to pull down your dress, what did he see your undwear, well atleast you chose a lacy thong. You were deep in your thoughts when you felt his hands stoped at your tattoo shit. You quickly pull yourself from his grasp and pull down your dress. “Y/n does it say-“ “Look Mike it was an old nickname so I had no other choice then to own it, I know you hate it.” Yu say making your way to the door. “Hate it? I never hated it. Embarrassed sure a bit but not hate” he says his face scrunching. “Mike your mom made me strawberries saying sweetheart and you freaked.” He rolls his eyes “Y/n i made those if my mom did they wouldve been perfect sure, she helped but i did most of it.” That changed everything. “You could’ve just said the truth i had a crush on you since like fifth grade.” “Fifth? Mine started in kindergarten” you giggle and push him away until someone rudely interrupts you two. “Are you shitting or what hurry the fuck up!” “I think thats our cue.”

“No fucking way Mike and Y/n are leaving together.” The whole friend groups eyes were wide. “Aww his sweetheart” Nancy says on the verge of drunken tears. ‘When did she get here”

Your nerves were through the roof. Sure you had been on man dates and approached by many guys but this was different it was Mike. As he opens the car door for you, you say “Wow wheeler you’ve upgraded your wheels” “Yeah i needed a backup plan to impress you” He enters the car and it falls silent. “Umm let me put on some music” he says scrolling through his tapes until finally landing on one. “Wow how romantic-“ It was coming sooner or later. You and Mike Wheeler finally kissed. But it wasn’t fast paced and eager. It was slow and sensual. Your hands found his hair and his hands found your waist. You guys enjoyed eachother for a couple more minutes until he pulls apart. “We are in the middle of the driveway I can go park” “So you think this is going farther” you say raising an eyebrow and he flushes red once again. “What no I just” “Just start driving.

Not just on his hand this time these went down his neck. He was absolutely clueless. You tried to motion him to wipe them off or go upstairs but Karen already noticed. “Looks like your sweetheart got you again after all”

"Mike its hanging down on the left, pick it up!" You were growing irritated.

Mike had tried to throw you a surprise party but, he didn't want to bother anyone asking for help because they all had enough to worry about. He can't keep secrets for shit so here you are helping him set up for your own birthday in his house, you thought everyone could use a normal day anyway so they can shift their focus away from Vecna. "I am trying okay!" he screams almost falling of the chair he was on. He didn't even need it he was tall enough. Thankfully it was only you two since everyone was out either working, getting ready, or picking up stuff for the party. The downside was you and Mike and had to do everything by yourselves.

About an hour later you guys are done and slump yourselves down on the couch. "This is the quietest my house had been in forever" he says sighing.

Since the Byers now live with Mike his house has been absolute chaos. “I know let's take a nap until everyone arrives " you tell him as you lay your head onto his shoulder. But you feel him pull your face up to look him in the eyes.

"I have your present upstairs, I want to give it to you right now since no one is here" he had that damn smirk on his face. The one he had whenever you guys were to do something you shouldn't be. But after all the stress you have been under this year you couldn’t reject.

Its been 2 weeks since the last time you guys did anything. Well not 2 full weeks because you and Mike can't go that long so hand stuff is excluded.

He leads you up the stairs and into his room. As he shuts the door he closes your eyes. "Mike you better not prank me" he giggles and says "No we don't have time for that right now, ready open your eyes" he stops you right in front of his bed and you couldn't believe the sight before your eyes. He had layed down your favorite flower petals across the bed into an heart, and right in the middle of it there was a box. "Mike I love it!" you say pulling him into a kiss. "but what if someone would have came upstairs and seen this" he scoffs and says "Cmon you really think they believe we don't have sex, I always have you marked up." Your eyes break apart from his gaze and make their way to the box on the bed. "Open it" he says with a hint of darkness in his eyes.

You open the box and see a gold necklace with an M and black lingerie with the name Mike embroidered on the crotch area. You cover your face blushing. "Omg Mike your crazy" you say putting your hands over your face. He removes them and says "Go ahead and go to the bathroom and put it on for me” not wanting to ruin the surprise, he wanted a big reveal.

You look yourself in the mirror and youye never felt more confident. It hugged you every it should. “Mike i am heading out cover your eyes” you scream through the door.

As you enter he opens his eyes and you drop his robe onto the floor. “Holy shit” he was in shock. “Do you like it?” “No I love it come here baby” he says signaling you over to his lap. You straddle him and feel his warmth. He only had his boxer on, and you could feel him growing hard. “You could have got me a size bigger my tits are spilling out” you looking down at your chest. “No I got it like that for a reason” he says as places his hand onto your waist and starts moving you back and forth.

“That one’s from all of us!” Nancy says as you open the gift. Everyone was surrounding you as your open your presents. You and Mike had thankfully got ready before everyone arrived. They had made you a scrap book of all the moments you guys shared. “Ahh I love it so much” you say as tears fill your eyes touched by the effort they all put into your gift. You start picking up the wrapping when Steve says “Wait where’s Mike’s gift, man it’s your girlfriend I taught you better” Mike smiles and hugs you from the back. “I did I got her two, this necklace.And the second one well already got her first half, she will get the the rest tonight”

“GROSS” Robin says as she stands up. “Yeah keep that to yourself” Dustin says pretending to gag but, you and Mike could only giggle knowing it wasn’t a lie.

The day I seen you everything stopped. We all thought Max was lying,we thought that you weren't her cousin it was impossible not only did you guys look nothing alike you were so much nicer. I have no idea why I am writing like this was a year ago it was only last month. It doesn't matter though you will never see these letters. But since Nancy always tells me I need to express myself in a better manner here I am. I don't care what it takes I will have you.You little socks that you have with the bow drive me crazy……….

You couldn't believe what you were reading. It had took you a couple of days to finally bring yourself to read all the letters. It seems he must have written one every month since the day you met. Every fight, anniversary was right in front of you through Mikes point of view. He didn't ever think you would see these letters, and that is for sure because in one of those letters he describes the bathroom troubles he had been experiencing. You don't know if you should go find him and fix everything but as you feel a tear drop onto your hand it brings you back to reality. Mike is your future he is your best friend, you shoulder to lean on, your soulmate. You know you will never have the same experiences as you had with him, he was you first everything.

"Y/n where are you going in such a rush?" Your mother says as you rush down the stairs with your keys in your hand. You had thrown on the random pair of jeans in your bathroom, a black top, and converse. "Oh your going to meet with your little group right" that stopped you in your tracks, what day. even was it?. "Huh whats today?" you ask hoping she doesn't say what you are thinking. "Well you go to the station every friday right?" She says wiping her hands on a rag. "Shit! Bye Mom I love you" You book it out the door not Iven waiting for her reply. You were so caught up sulking you forgot that today was the crawl.

On the way to the WSQK you didn't know what to say. What could you say. First you need to apologize to the love of your life and, apologize to everyone about almost missing the crawl.

When you arrive everyone is already packed up, you see Mike standing at the entrance. "Mike she is not coming lets go!" Lucas screams irritated because Mike was holding everyone up. You step on the gas and pull up right next to Mike. He looks at you shocked "Y/n thank god your here but you almost killed me-" You cut him off and pull him into a kiss. "Mike Ive been a terrible girlfriend I am so sorry you dont understand I feel like a piece of shit. I know where we stand now and if its to late-" Mike smiles and looks you in the eyes.

“y/n I could never be mad at you I want you with me through all this only you and everyone else of course but a little less" You guys giggle "Ok like now can we actually go" Robin says walking past you. Mike rolls his eyes and picks you up. "Ok lets go get this crawl over with so I can have you all to myself”

When you and Mike got together it was perfect. He was the perfect boyfriend , he is the perfect boyfriend but you can’t help but feel less then El. After everything they went through together you feel like you can’t compete.

“Earth to y/n what frame do you want” Mike asked waving his hand infront of your face. You guys were at the store but seen a photo booth and decided to capture the moment. “Oh sorry I was busy admiring my handsome boyfriend” you giggle as you start going through the options of stickers. Until you come across one. It looked familiar. You couldn’t remember from where so you ignore it choose one. “Great Choice” Mike says as you choose the one with roses around it. Your favorite flower.

“So do you want to go to my house” Mike says as you guys walk to his house hand in hand. “ I don’t really have a choice do I” you say as you guys stop at his door step. “ Nah not really.”

“Y/n! Finally I missed you how was Mike today” Karen asks you as you enter the house. “Negative points for him Mrs.Wheeler I had to open the door for myself today at the dinner” you say as you give her a hug. “Mike your gonna loose this gem” you feel a tug on your arm and it’s Mike pulling you away. “Let’s go before she starts pulling out baby pictures”

As you guys make your way down into the basement you hear laughter. “Finally I was in Mike Wheelers house without Mike Wheeler!” Lucas says as he pulls Mike over to where they are seated to do god know what. Probably some plans on how to deafeat Vecna. You scan the room and see the seat where Max usually sits. These past weeks you wished she was present. But, you spot Will so you head over. "Hey y/n" he says while rummaging through some box of his. You've been seeing much more of Will since he stays with the Wheelers now. "What do you got there"

"I am just going through some stuff memories you know, when everything was much more simple" you take a seat next to him "look at this photo a week before you moved here." The photo was the one you remember seeing.

A group photo of them squished together in the exact same photo booth that you and Mike were in today. And there they were sitting next to each other.

You know it was simply puppy love, that it didn't mean much to Mike. But, for some reason for the rest of the night you couldn't shake this feeling.

"Goodnight see you tomorrow" Mike says as he closes the car door for you.

"Goodnight Mike" you scream as you drive off. But all the way home through every street you could just think has Mike and El been on this road together, what were they talking about. You were never insecure even now you still think these thoughts are stupid but how could you even amount to who she was. As you pull into your driveway and enter your house you begin thinking was all this worth it?

The next couple of weeks went by fast. With everyone planning on how to take out Vecna everyone was getting closer. Except for you and Mike.Unknown to you he had felt you distancing yourself.

"I don't know what to do, I know I am this nerd who thanks to god has a chance with her but, I think I am doing everything right!" Mike explains. He rounded up everyone except Jonathon he didn't want dating advice from someone dating his sister. "Maybe you should buy her a gift like those socks with the bows she wears all the time" Dustin exclaims. "First of all no that is super pervy and second of all why are you staring hard enough that you know they have bows" Mike says looking at Dustin suspiciously. "No you just need to dedicate songs to her!Max loved when I would do that" Lucas says with a hint of hope in his eyes. "No, No I have the most experience here" Steve says standing up "Mike the real question is are you satisfying her sexual need-" Robin puts her hand over his mouth and interrupts him "Well as a women myself you need to be straight up. Beating around the bush is just gonna make her think your inconsiderate of her feelings"After all the input Mike made a plan.

You heard you doorbell and rush down the stairs expecting Mike. You open the door and see him standing there all dressed up with a bouquet of roses and sixteen candles. "Aww Mike you didn't have to" you pull him into an embrace and guide him up into your room.

You guys settle into bed and he starts the movie. He was more into it than you. "Mike I knew this was your guilty pleasure movie!" You exclaim as you cuddle into his arms.

The movie was coming to an end so he knew he had to act fast. "So y/n I want to talk about something that I have been thinking about" he says and sits up. "Sure whats on your mind' you give him your full attention. "So I feel like you've been distancing yourself lately look, I know I am not this awesome guy but I love you and will do anything" you were listening intently until you had this feeling. The exact same feeling from when you were lost and forgot your radio so they had El find you. You sit up fast infuriated. "Mike are you serious right now" he looks at you confused. " You seriously had El tap into my mind to see what I was thinking" He was caught. "I can't believe you, I can't believe this" you say getting off your bed in shock. "Y/n listen I had a reason-" you scoff

"A reason for what having your ex read my mind. Look I love El but I don't think this can go any further. I can't add up to her. She has powers and can save you protect you I can't!" you start pacing this was all so overwhelming. "Y/n that's not the point I don't care about that I care about you, your all I have right now!" You couldn't handle the discomfort anymore.
