BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991) FRANKENSTEIN (2025)
I just think these two would have a lot to discuss.
One God in three persons, a mystery of divine love. The Father's wisdom, the Son's redemption, and the Spirit's guidance unite in perfect harmony. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we find our salvation and purpose. The Trinity is a sacred bond, a union of love and power that transcends human understanding. Through faith, we experience the Father's grace, the Son's mercy, and the Spirit's comfort. In the Trinity, we find our hope and our eternity. â Shaila Touchton

Even barring what the cast/production team has said about it, I think most interpretations of Nosferatu (2024) as a narrative concerned with literal abuse/grooming kind of fall apart when you factor in that Count Orlok is a manifestation of Ellenâs sexual urges. And this isnât even subtextual, itâs something he directly says: âI am an appetite. Nothing more.â Now, I suppose you could argue that heâs just blaming her for his own predation upon her (something abusers do, certainly) but I donât think it really reads that way. Orlokâs actions are violent and predatory because thatâs how Ellen views her own desires. Dangerous. Destructive. Harmful to herself and her loved ones. Harmful to society! Sheâs a woman in a culture that demonizes womenâs sexuality and enforces repression; thatâs the whole point.
Ellen doesnât die at the end as punishment for her sexual urges, she dies because itâs the only way she can be integrated with (âwed toâ) Orlok â in other words, itâs the only way she can accept her sexuality. Thatâs why sheâs the only one who can end the plague! Ellen spends the whole movie in conflict with parts of herself she wants to reject; the destruction can only stop once she ceases to view her sexuality as destructive.
Two men dancing, Harlem, 1920s.
According to George Chaunceyâs eponymous Gay New York, the Harlem Renaissance of the â20s provided an opportunity for gay men to create their own social and cultural spaces within the burgeoning nightlife in the neighborhood.Â
ohh this is lovely
i mean i like the subject matter, but also, itâs just an objectively beautiful photograph. the composition, the gentle sense of motion, the smile on the dancerâs face, his partnerâs face in shadow, the central focus being on their clasped hands⌠honestly one of the best photographs iâve seen.
Wait a minute... is this in a non-segregated club? In the 1920s?
Now, please excuse my ignorance, I am not from the US, but I was under the impression that the laws at the time didn't permit it. What is happening here? Is it just that the LGBTQ+ community was always more open and accepting?
Cuz that's beautiful ngl
