It seems I'm incapable of being short so - under the cut we go!

let him decide: what outfits do you like seeing him wear? do you style him or let him pick his outfits?

I actually really like him in two of his "standard" outfit - Leisure and Black and White.

He just looks so cozy and comfy in his white sweater - exactly what he wants to be right now.

His white cropped jacket with black turtleneck and black jeans still looks comfy and practical but it adds a certain edge to his image - no too much, just a hint that there's a little more than meets the eye to him.

So these are my two faves for Xavier!

For similar reasons I also really like him in his knit sweater.

If we look at more extra outfits I like his jade startrail (lingering lust) outfit - it manages to be hot while still keeping that cozy feelings with the long flowy pants.

I guess I really like to see him comfy and relaxed!

The only outlier is his catch-22 outfit. I love Hermit! Xavier and the outfit he comes with.

I always let him choose. It's fun to see what he comes up with. I gotta say, most of the time he's pretty tame, but he likes to add decals, hair accessories or bunny ears to otherwise perfectly normal outfits.

collections: what are some of your favorite starred voicelines?

Oooh I hadn't listened to them in a long time. And there are so many I like! So hard to choose! Still, let's go with these:

"Even a defeated enemy is still human" (Main Story, to Our Yesterday, 1-5)

This is probably one of my favorite lines in the game period. It's such a great piece of characterization for Xavier. He can be cold and ruthless but he does respect life and human dignity; once his adversaries are neutralized he sees no point in pouring salt into the wound so to speak. No longer a threat? Then you're free to live your life as far as he's concerned. We saw that with his treatment of Isaiah too. It's probably one of my favorite traits of Xavier.

"If they knew I was dangerous, would they still aproach me?"(Tender Moments - Shimmering Sunlight) + "I'm the bigger threat you should be paying attention to" (Event: Love On Screen)

As much as I like Xavier the noble prince and knight who stands up for what is right I love all the reminders we get that he's dangerous and that he can be shady. There's still a ton we don't know about Xavier, and a lot of that has ties with the nest, N109 zone and the ease he has navigating business with less-than-savory organizations. I wonder how far Infold will take this. As much as he's associated with baby blues an lilac, his outfits have a lot of black and white. Light and darkness. He wants us to bask in his light but how much of a shadow is he carrying I wonder?

"I call this one Alarm Clock. It's the loudest and most puncutal" "(Tender Moments - Shimmering Sunlight)

There is no deep meaning behind this one, I just love his naming process. Alarm Clock, Puffball and Fatso my beloveds. And let's not forget about the not-so-great-star - which, from what i understand, was actually a great pun in chinese. Or at least, it had me laugh. Then again, sense of humor is very personal.

"I want it less sweet than a ragdoll, less sour than a ginger and less bitter than a black cat" (Tender Moments- heartfelt guide)

Another exhibit of his sense of humor. I love it.

"But I'm sure the bird will live to see the sunrise. Why would anyone write an entire book about a poor bird who miserably fails anyway" (Tender Moments - Perfect Sunset)

+ "I don't lile the phrase -grieving over spring's departure- i think we should be happy no matter what season. At least, let's be happy today"(Tender Moments - Dawn to Dusk)

Other great pieces of characterization - Xavier is, despite everything, an optimist. He never stops hoping for a better future, for a happy ending - and with hope, comes the motivation not to give up, to keep fighting for such happy ending. But that doesn't mean our Xavie is so fixated on the ultimate goal of future happiness that he can't see the present, quite the contrary. He's all about enjoying the journey and giving meaning to quiet, seemingly unimportant everyday life.

What can I say, I enjoy his rizz - smooth, cheeky and shameless.

"Then we're partners who chose each other. Therefore, we do not need to fear separation. Even if life's unpredictable nature separates us for a time, we shall eventually reach the same destination on our different paths. So long as we follow our hearts." (Event: Time's Banquet)

Xavi x mc in a nutshell. They aren't Soulmates At Birth, they're not each other's Lovers or Enemies Assigned by Fate. As far as we know they're just two people who met, got along swimmingly, enjoyed each other's company and had similar values. That makes them natural parntes because, no matter who they are or where they are, they'll be fighting towards the same goal - and that means they'll always gravitate towards each other.

about him: share a personal headcanon you have of him.

Not so much as a headcanon, but I do sincerely believe his misadventures in the kitchen come from his adventurous spirit. He always likes to try new things, and that can lead to truly novel flavors in his dishes, for better or for worse.

More headcanon territory, in a universe where the LIs are allowed to meet-

I think he'd get along great with Zayne, but they'd struggle to go beyond a surface friendly relationship - neither is a master at opening up, and Xavier's more wild side would give Zayne grey hair (though I think it would be of the "fondly exhasperated" variety)

Rafayel and him might take a while to warm up to each other, and they might clash a little at first - two shady people who try to telegraph "nothing suspicious to see here!" (Raf is a tad more convincing, sorry Xavi)? They'd be squinting at each other so hard. But, they'd enjoy each other sense of humor I think, and they could bond over their shared appreciation of the beauty of life. They might struggle to become close friends.... mostly because Raf needs people to feel safe. And Xavi is good at being a safe harbor but a) he works hard to be that for mc and b) he still comes and goes as he pleases and you never know what he's really up to. Still I think they'd have a lot to bond over, what with them being the leaders of fallen civilizations that were based on ritual sacrifice and are currently hunted down.

Him and Sylus are the ones I find most difficult to think about, despite them being (supposedly) foils. Yeah, the prince and the dragon. Policeman and mafia boss. Rich but lives simply, gets offended if you don't buy everything in sight. They would clash on a lot of surface aspects but when it comes down to it.... they're both pretty direct about what they want and what they need and how they feel. So I think this would be the unexpected friendship that would have people scratch their head. Or, they'd have a friendly rivality where they respect each other a lot I believe.

Caleb is the one he'd get along the least I fear. Even taking mc out of the equation thus removing their territorial instincst... again, shady people squinting suspiciously at each other but without much they could bond over - not even their shared love for cooking unfortunately. As a matter of fact, I think this is a good example of why I struggle to see these two getting along - they do have a lot in common, such as "cooking as a love language" - but they approach things from polar opposites starting points, and so I think they'd find it hard to come to an understanding. They would be able to work together as they're both capable of holding their tongues and being diplomatic but. I think they'd see each other do stuff and they'd be irked by each other's approach. Caleb leads his men but he's mostly focused on himself while xavier cares for his people even when they work against him, Caleb cooks to please and xavie cooks to experiment, caleb tries to survive and keep the world out, xavie can't get enough of the world and wants to live. Then again, one is a traumatized survivor of lab experiments and god knows what else, the other was a beloved prince before his world started becoming a horror story. Of course they'd be opposites.

Omg thanks for answering! Loved all the shared lines!! So much good insight into Xavier’s character.

Yes he’s bold, daring, and a bit eclectic with his tastes but he’s earnest and genuine in all he does. He cares about the present, and about the future he’s trying to create, but isn’t so lost in it that he’s all-consumed.

THIS THIS THIS! Against all odds he never gets bitter or jaded with the future, he may have to shift now and then but he really keeps his head up and faces forward without resignation to the end.

And I love the hc’s about how the boys would get along! LSKDJJD ZAYNE WOULD GET SO MUCH GREY HAIR.

I’ve always kinda liked the idea of Raf, Sy, and Xavi being fishing buddies? LOL but as for how they get along on just surface levels vs. deep relationships, I couldn’t agree more. Although I am slightly living for the Sylus and Xavier being rivals with great respect, (as I’ve written some fun shenanigans with @mephisto-reporting, she knows this very well lolol).

The comparison with Caleb though OOF 😭 you’re so right. They actually are such interesting foils to each other, in a different way than Xavier and Sylus.

GOD YEAH THIS… One thing I had wrong about Xavier when first getting to know him was thinking Xavier also didn’t care about anyone but MC, but he actually does care so much about others, maybe even too much at times (as we saw in the T.O.Y. update). Both men want to live in their “own little world” with MC, but I think Caleb is the most likely to want that as an endgame because he wants her all to himself… Xavier is ok if it never happens, because he just wants peace with her as an endgame. There was a line too where he says something about creating their own planet of flowers here on earth, and that’s his compromise for not being able to make it to Uluru with her… but he does compromise. The guys are fundamentally similar yet so different I do think they’d be bothered by each other sldkdjhd

Notes about the kitchen/cooking update I wish I knew... Not spoilers for interactions just mistakes I already made!

- The cooking range is on an island, meaning you can't put it up against a wall. You can put it against a wall, but you won't be able to "cook with him", both parties will only be able to cook solo if it's against a wall. And you need to cook a lot "with him" in order to get new ingredients and recipes. 

- You have to cook drinking water

- Cooking costs 60 stamina so you won't be able to just binge cook recipes, they want you to learn and play slowly

- Pay attention to what is a "staple" food (main dish) vs. a "side" dish – you need to cook at least 2 main dishes to be able to sit and have a meal with him

- You get an achievement for just eating plain rice by yourself. Infold that's just my life lately- /shot

- Cooking a meal does not mean there's enough to share. If you make one (1) main dish that's just one (1) serving. Side dishes, however, are larger portions and shareable

- He will leave the house now and run his own errands for an indeterminate amount of time. He usually picks up a few things from the store for you. If you call him home before he finishes his errands, he won't bring you groceries, which may or may not be fine depending on what you need him for. It just has me running into issues where I want to cook with him to get an achievement and he's never freaking home. Went from watching TV all day to now this man has too much of a life without me ISTG 😭 Just something to be aware of!

Finally got around to the kitchen design! I wanted something bright and cheery, lots of yellows - reminds Sky of stars and Xavier. Since it’s his favorite room in the house I think she’d actually let him take some more liberty? (I honestly think he’d spend more time in there than her sldjjdhs). Their appliances have a vintage feel! Green in Sky’s favorite color though, and makes a good compliment.

Honestly designing this was a headache and I don’t like the floorplan. My sister is a master architect and was looking at this with me like “Who designed this layout???” hahaha but she agreed I did the best I could with what I had to work with….

Uhm, no actually there’s no need in changing the current Gacha system with more MLs. But before you jump me, lemme explain, why.

For solo banner you have a 50/50 to get the banner card. And this doesn’t change. If there are 3 or 6 or 9 or 12 boys. 50% are 50% are 50%. So either you get this one card, or you get randomly another.

Same with myths, plus the same pair card never appears twice in a row, always interchangeable. So chances also stay the same, no matter how much Male Leads there are.

Multi:

They added the choice-3 and precise wish with the implementation of Sylus. Before him you couldn’t choose at all. You had a 75% chance to get one of the event cards or not.

With the 3-choice you can select which card gets the 75% chance. All others appear randomly with a 25% chance. And this also doesn’t change with more boys. Because you choose those three and the rest is random.

The precise wish is also unaffected because it charges as soon as you get any other card then the selected one. So the second 5* you pull will always be the precise wish, no matter what. (Exception if you change it, than it looses the charge)

So, as you can see, more boys won’t change your “luck”. It’s all simple calculation 🥰

But of course they could change the choose-3 option into choosing more, but this would really dilute your “luck” to get the cards you want.

A casual midnight train ride with Xavier leads to a sweet confession.

On this train ride with your lovely mission partner, the only thought on your mind is how to catch your heart as it decides to fall for him.

You’re laying your head on his shoulder as you hear his soft sighs, which are his attempts to stay awake. You wonder why he tries to do so even though you’re both coming home after a long shift, but leave it to Xavier to leave you with more questions than answers. 

At least his flair for secrecy appeals to your endless curiosity, even though it has also led your heart to predicaments unfamiliar to you.

“Xavier, if the world falls apart…” You begin to ramble sleepily knowing he’ll entertain it. “Would you fly to the moon, Frank Sinatra style?”

His chuckle reverberates, sending happy little butterflies to flutter all throughout your body. Soft, gentle, and oh so comforting. “I’d try to save it first. Get rich or die trying, 50 Cent style.”

“That doesn’t make any sense!” But you laugh anyway because no emotion remains hidden when you’re around Xavier.

The train ride is quiet, with the few passengers around you living in their own worlds. You catch the titles of the books they’re reading and silently admire some of their tastes in fashion. Pairing a black scarf with a white shirt is an interesting choice, but then again, so is falling in love with your mission partner. 

You don’t entertain that thought any further.

Xavier’s hand sits near your hip, but it settles atop your purse instead. If you were any bolder, you would hold it and notice the little details you could only imagine about. Maybe it has scars and little cuts from the sword he swings around like it’s nothing. Or, maybe it’s smooth, reminiscent of how comfortable it feels to be around him.

“If the world were to end,” he brings up the topic you had accidentally let go of, “I hope you’re safe, and I would find you wherever you end up at.”

You lift your head up to meet his gaze, not realizing how close you two would be. Your noses are practically touching, and you can see his blue eyes darken once he realizes. Soft, still comforting, but with a hint of a storm brewing as well.

“That’s such a mission partner answer,” you scoff, laughing with no humor in your tone. “Tell me what Xavier would say.”

You know it’s risky to tease him like that. Trying to pry open his vault is as futile as uncovering your own mysterious past, but there’s no harm in trying, right? Especially when you have Xavier softly chuckling at your attempts while the storm in his eyes disappears slowly.

“Hmm, Xavier would stand by your side no matter what.”

“Another mission partner answer.” You pout to tease, and judging by his wide eyes, it works. “C’mon. I mean much more to you than that, don’t I?”

His expression is indiscernible. On one hand, his smile is still there, everpresent the way it is when you have sleepless nights and you need illicit scenes to assist you. On the other hand, his eyes have darkened once more, turning into a storm hiding every thought he refuses to say aloud.

Only when the train halts and announces the stop does Xavier find the courage to look away. And while you don’t admit it, your heart drops, making you look away as well.

“Such a cute couple!” A passenger comments, and you look up to see what you swear is you and Xavier if you were given a kind, gentle future. A lovely grandmother waves at you as she walks out to her stop, a laugh erupting from the person holding her hand. It sounds as youthful as Xavier’s, yet the shakiness of it carries experiences inevitable in a long life. They leave the train with happiness so unavoidable the other passengers begin whispering to themselves with grins on their faces.

“Is it too late to tell them we aren’t one?” you whisper to Xavier, expecting his usual soft chuckle. You even poke his cheek to prepare for a wide smile. 

Instead, however, his gaze darts from the train’s door to your eyes, and in the sudden closeness, he whispers, “I wouldn’t want to lie to an elderly couple.”

Lie?

A genuine chuckle escapes his lips at your surprised expression, and the implications sit in the nonexistent space between the both of you as the train continues its journey. The soft music and new conversations are what cushion your thoughts as you proceed to ask every one of them.

“What do you mean by that, Xavier?”

His smile radiates so much you’d think the sun was out on this night. “What do you think that means, starlight?”

You’re speechless. Your brain can barely go past the fact that he called you starlight — how playfully cruel of him to expect you to conjure up a coherent conclusion in this state. 

But Xavier isn’t inherently cruel, so he makes his point clear. “I like you, and if… only if you want…”

You wait patiently for the words he’s too flustered to say aloud. The soft music and the conversations around you are reduced to nothing, all your focus settling only on Xavier. 

“I’d like to be your boyfriend.”

You don’t know about the years of anguish he’s endured to find the courage to ask such a simple question. The stars he’s once looked up to for answers are now in your eyes, glossy and incandescent, as you find your voice once more.

And when you do, it carries your whole heart with it.

“Yes, yes, yes!”

The train ride becomes a memorable journey, leading you to your home.
