About the “V” hand art.

I don’t think the hand is Hide or Touka, in fact, as of recent developments, I think I have a clearer idea of whose it is.

I think it’s Furuta’s hand.

So, firstly, at the end of chapter 142, when Kaneki arrives in the twenty fourth ward, Furuta says “V,” claiming his victory.

Additionally, the hand seems to be caressing Kaneki’s face gently, almost like a parent would with a child.

Recently, in chapter 144 especially, Furuta seems to have been referring to Kaneki as a baby or a child.

Not to mention, Kaneki’s shown crying black tears in the art, and just before Kaneki transforms into dragon, when he makes the resolve to keep fighting and essentially play into Furuta’s plans, we see in this panel that he is also crying black tears.

So, my conclusion is that the art is depicting Furuta coaxing Kaneki into playing right into his hands. The V on his wrist would make sense then, since V represents victory, especially in the context of Furuta’s victory, and so it seems almost as if Furuta’s hand is luring Kaneki to aid in his triumph.
