she almost wanted to laugh at the words he had chosen for her. 'good with appearances.'Â there was no denying such a statement, and one could go as far as to say that it's her actual occupation. to control her image and excel at maintaining a particular one at that.
but neither could it be denied that there was a certain pride to the manner in which she carried herself. if hyuna failed, if she didn't gain enough intel, if she hadn't earned someone's trust quickly enough, or if she forgot a simple task, it bore its weight on her mind no matter the severity of the situation.
as such, she kept thinking she had to get this right. for the brotherhood, of course, and also for herself. if anyone were to know about plans going incredibly wrong, it was hyuna and so it became the thing she despised most. those who didn't know thought she was easygoing, that she was adaptable— and she was, but stubbornness reigned her restless thoughts.
watching the tiniest of his reactions, doubt planted itself in her brain, nearly causing her to lose concentration. at the first words he speaks once her analysis is complete, she can feel her heart racing once again and there's that slight twinge of pain— enough to make her feel pain but not enough for her to wince, she was far too used to it by now.
hyuna could only remember to exhale when junhyung told her she was right and the swell of pride in her chest was short-lived following a mention of the job. that's right. she was here on a mission and not to prove herself— although in a sense she had to prove herself. her first mission of this significance.
nonetheless, she smiled back with as much sincerity as he had shown her. "and when would you like me to start?" glancing at the light-switch near the door, the ace chuckled softly, a teasing smile on her lips now as she shrugged her head in that direction. "if it's the woman with tension headaches, i'd say you should turn down the lights somewhat if you can."
eyes flickering back to the desk, she walked back towards it, pausing once she reached it. "do you ever keep candies around your office? just a small question, really. peppermint can help headaches. so can other scents but— i doubt many are disturbed by the smell of mint, compared to heavier scents like sandalwood."
that wasn't going too far, was it? after all—
"i know it's not ordinary practice for someone in this field, but personal experience. i could go get it myself. i'm sure she'd appreciate it." and she knew it could just as easily go the other way. it could be the last they saw of that particular patient but if she didn't make her position an integral part of his office now, it'd only take longer for her mission.Â
