He loves a bigger woman. Dare I say that's his type? Like obviously if you lost weight or weren't bigger he would love you all the same but if you gained weight or are bigger he just eats that up.
When Darry got to tall for Mrs. Curtis to yell at him face to face she started grabbing chairs and climbing on counters. Soda and Pony thought it was hilarious. But Darry was and will forever be horried as he mother gave him the talking to of a life time while towering over him on a chair.
Do you ever think Darry just runs people over? Not with a car, but after a long day. Both jobs. Hes tired and not paying attention. He walks into the kitchen, not taking in any of his surrounding, ponys right in front of him and Darry just keeps walking. Like it does not register to him at all that a person is there and poor pony is just not ready for it. He goes down like a bowling pin. And Darry doesn't even notice and just continues to head got the fridge.
A man is having trouble opening a door by himself because he needs a walker? Dallas notices. Without looking at the man, heâll press the button to open the door.
Johnny is shaking so bad one day that he canât even get a bag of chips openâDally had just opened a bag of his own. He throws the open bag toward Johnny and took the unopened bag for himself.
Ponyboy was messing around with a pocket knife one day and couldnât get it open. Dally was the only other guy around, took it and showed Ponyboy how to open it almost wordlessly. âYouâll cut yourself opening it like that, dumb kid.â
And he never talks about these instances again. He doesnât need to.
âThereâs Darry, Sodapop and Ponyboy â and then thereâs their baby sister. Sheâs loved, sure, but do they truly ever show it? Or do they just say so and hope that itâs enough?â

Life would never be easy for someone like you.
A teenage girl, living in a house constantly full of boys.
Before your parents died, it was fine; sure, you didnât always get the newest clothes or cutest makeup, but it was enough. Because you had your mom.
Now you donât.
And Darry is the one bringing you shopping. Darry is the one supervising what you buy. Darry, a twenty-year-old boy â no, man â is the one who watches you eye the frilly, cute dresses in the store and is the one who says no every time.
It feels as though he never even tries to understand you. He gets along with Soda and Pony just fine, because theyâre boys, but you?
Youâre a girl. And therefore, lesser than.
At least thatâs how it feels.
Soda can go to as many rodeos as he wants, stay out as late as he wants. Pony gets praised for his smarts, he can smoke in the house whenever, he can stay at the lot and not get grounded.
You?
At the age of sixteen, you canât stay out past 8:30. You canât get cute skirts because theyâre too expensive. You canât go anywhere without telling Darry. You canât get anything cute or girly. You canât do anything.
You feel like a rat trapped in a cage. Like a bird with clipped wings.
Itâs hell.
Darry never understands you. Never tried to understand you. Not before your parents died and certainly not after. He never knew what you did in your room, late at night â why your arms would suddenly be covered by sleeves despite the blistering summer heat. He never put in the effort.
âââăâ
Beeps from cash registers, the pungent smell of cleaning products and terribly bright fluorescent lights overwhelm your senses. Darryâs footsteps echo beside you. Loud. Heavy. The total opposite of your own.
As you walk past the girlâs clothing section, your eyes catch on something. A skirt; pink with ruffles and lace. Your steps falter, and of course, Darry notices. His response is almost immediate.
âNo.â
You look up at him, your expression shifting. That spark of excitement in your eyes burning out. He notices, but doesnât show it.
âYou know we canât afford it, kid.â His voice is firm. Cold. Thatâs all it ever is around you. Not warm like it is with Soda, not calm like with Pony. Heâs never treated you the way he does them.
âI know.â You reply, your own tone taking on an edge by default. But Darry, of course, canât help getting mad.
âWould you quit that? Youâre actinâ like a brat. You canât always get what you want.â
He stares down at you, eyes stormy and voice like thunder; expecting you to argue, to make a scene like Pony would or scold him right back like Soda might.
But you donât.
You canât.
You just stand there, tears welling up but never falling.
He knows youâre not like Pony and Soda. Youâre a girl. Youâre different. Your brain is just wired differently, and he canât seem to grasp onto the fact.
The rest of your time in the store is tense, like a taught string waiting to snap in half. Not a word is spoken from either of you; only subtle glances.
The drive home is worse.
âââăâ
âYou listen here young ladyâ!â
Darryâs voice roars throughout the small space of the living room. Moments earlier, youâd burst in, tears welling in your eyes, your expression full of frustration and betrayal.
âNo! Why should I listen to you when you never listen to me?!â You yell back.
The others all stare on, the entire rest of the gang â Soda, Two-Bit, Pony, Steve â they all watch on as you and your brother argue like angry dogs.
Darry huffs, shaking his head disapprovingly. Like a dad would. Not a big brother. âWould you quit sayinâ that?! Youâre actinâ like a damn child, yâknow that?â
Itâs like seeing someone argue with their reflection. Two people, both too stubborn to understand the other, but equally struggling. You, unheard and unseen, and Darry, placed in the position he is by chance, not choice.
âYou never let me do anything! You treat me like a pest, not your sister!â You argue back.
He doesnât say anything. Just stares. Too frustrated to snap back and not say something heâll regret.
But you continue on; cracks in your voice, but not a single stutter.
âYou donât treat me like you do Soda and Ponyboy! You treat them like brothers, while Iâm nothing but vermin!â The tears finally start falling, hot and salty against your cheeks. âYou let Soda do what he wants, you praise Pony for being a genius, but what do I get? Nothing! Not a word of kindness or affection! âStop pouting,â âDonât give me that look,â âCalm downâ! Thatâs all I hearââ
All Darry can do is stare at you. The room is silent aside from your rambling, each pair of eyes looking anywhere but you and Darry from their scattered positions.
ââ and nothing else! I bet you wished I was in an orphanage, huh? So you wouldnât have to deal with me anâ all my âchildishâ wants?!â
This is what makes him snap. The idea that you think he doesnât love you; that he doesnât care.
âWould you shut your goddamn mouth?! You act like I donât care, when thatâs all I do! It ainât my fault weâre broke and canât afford your stupid skirts and dinner!â
There he goes again. Placing the blame on you, as if you arenât the one being neglected. Tears stream down your cheeks like waterfalls, your bottom lip quivering as you try your hardest not to let out a sob; brows furrowed in a scowl. A mirror image of Darry himself.
And then you say the three words he would never wish to hear â three words that send him spiraling.
âI hate you, Darry! I wish I was never born, goddamnit!â
He freezes. Everyone does. The tension in the room reaches its peak, your words causing everyone to stop and hold their breaths.
But before he can reply, before he can apologize or argue, youâre gone. Leaving nothing but a door swinging in your wake.
Darry stares at the open door, eyes wide with emotion; regret, anger, frustration, betrayal. This is his fault and he knows it. He never made an effort to understand you. To make you feel loved. To love you in general.
Moments later, Dally and Johnny step inside, quickly noticing the tension and quietness.
âThe fuck happened here? Did the girl throw another fit?â Dally drawls, a sick grin on his face.
His words are like a knife to Darryâs heart. Everyoneâs silence tells him all he needs to know.
âOh.â
âOh.â
The realization appears on his face as quick as a lightswitch flipping on.
âOh, shit, man. What did you do, Darry?â He immediately asks, stepping further into the quiet house.
I saw your ask soâŠ. I have a request for DALLAS WINSTON BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!
Okay so the reader is a part of the Curtis family and her and dally have been seeing each other in secret UNTIL something happens maybe Ponyboy or Johnny ACCIDENTALLY spill it from when they went to Dally for help and like ponyboy was grossed out but promised to keep the it secret. When they do find out they Darry loses it where maybe soadpop is like chill about it. Meanwhile Steve and Twobit are just enjoying the show/just their? (I dont know if this makes any senseđ)
Girl Curtis | D.W.
summary: your relationship with dally was meant to be a secret, but one night at the drive-in changes everything.
pairing: dallas âdallyâ winston x curtis sister!reader
includes: fluff, slightly suggestive, cursing, talks of physical fighting, mentions of killing, mentions of underage drinking, steve & two-bit not helping the situation, ponyboy being grossed out, johnny being a cutie pie, reader is practically a mini version of darry
a/n: i love matt dillon đ€ (i got lost at the end, idk man đ) and this got hella long
Being a Curtis meant living in constant change. No matter what day of the week it was or the season, every single day was completely different from the last. From waking up to an actual breakfast to having chocolate cake for every meal. And it wasnât like your family never accepted the change, but change was always something hard for your family to cope withâespecially after your parents had died a year ago.
So when Ponyboy accidentally found out that youâhis older sister, his only sisterâwere seeing Dallas Winstonâthe boy whoâs been to jail more times than he could countâbehind everyoneâs back, he was too shocked to even utter a word at the sight.
He didnât even mean to learn about your relationship with Dallyâit was on pure accident. He and Johnny simply wanted advice from Dally, and Buck had let them inside his house. It wasnât his fault that Dally left his bedroom door unlocked when he clearly had company over.
When the door swung open and revealed Ponyboy and Johnny, you immediately pulled away from Dally, scrambling to get off his lap while throwing a pillow in Dally's direction. Ponyboy immediately spun around and squeezed his eyes shut, tugging Johnny around as he stood frozen in fear and shock.
After what seemed like ages of shuffling around, the both of you were finally decent, although the smudges of gloss and lipstick around Dally's mouth seemed to remain.
He sat up properly and looked at you in amusement before putting a hand out toward the youngest Curtis in efforts to get him to focus on something other than walking in on his sister making out with a juvenile delinquent. âListen, kidââ
âDonât you dare say anything right now.â You glare at Dally before slowly moving toward your brother, approaching him like he was a wild animal. Ponyboy hadnât said anything for the past five minutes, and you were starting to get worried that you broke him with one terrible interaction. âPonyâ?â
âYouâre dating Dally?â Ponyboy finally said as he turned back around to face you, staring at the two of you like it was the craziest thing in the entire world. He bit the top of his thumb and looked around the room, trying to distract himself from unwanted thoughts. âDoes Darry know?â
You shake your head and gently move his hand away from his mouth, getting him to look at you. âDarry does not know, and he wonât know until we tell him, got it?â
Ponyboyâs eyes widened as he began to pace Dallyâs room, mind running millions of miles per second. He wasnât sure if keeping your relationship hidden was a smart move, but he couldnât tell Darry without you knowingâyou would kill him. And what about Sodapop? Surely he deserved to know about you and Dally, he wasnât a snitch and he definitely wouldnât be the one to tell Darry either.
Johnny watched Ponyboy cautiously, fingers playing with the buttons on his jean jacket for a lack of movement compared to his best friend. He wasnât surprised that you and Dally ended up togetherâhell, Dally had told him that he liked you when he got drunk once. He didnât know exactly when you got together, but it wasnât Johnnyâs place to tell anybody about your business or Dallyâs business.
âMan, how did yâall even start dating?â Johnny asked to no one in particular as he continued to stare at Ponyboy, a small frown tugging at his lips.
âUh, dunno, just happened one day.â Dally laid back on the headboard of the bed and lit a cigarette he found behind his ear, blowing the smoke high into the air before you could reprimand him.
You raise your brows at Dallyâs words, looking back at him in surprise before rolling your eyes at the cigarette hanging from his lips. Dally loved to tell the story of how you two started going out, but you werenât exactly sure what was stopping him. He would only be telling Ponyboy and Johnny.
âYou are a terrible story teller.â You huff and put your hands on your hips, âYou really arenât gonna tell them?â
Dally took another drag from the cigarette, shrugging in response before a wicked grin made its way onto his face. He stood from his spot on the bed and wrapped an arm around your shoulders, leaning his body against yours until you supported half of his weight.
âIâll tell them how it ended, doll, how âbout that?â He said with the same damn grin, making you narrow your eyes at him, almost daring him to tell the two boys how that night ended. âWell, the story ends with me and girl Curtis tangled up in those sheets back thereââ
âOkay, gross, shut up.â Ponyboy groaned and covered his ears, Johnny burning a bright red at the unwelcome thoughts. Ponyboy still kept his ears covered, âIâll keep it a secret for as long as I can, but Soda and Darry are bound to find out sooner or later.â
After you finish jabbing Dally in the stomach for his crude behavior, you look back at your brother and remove his hands from his ears. âAnd weâll cross that bridge when it happens, for nowââ
You take Johnny and Ponyboy by their shoulders and turn them away, walking them to the doorway of the bedroom. ââI want to spend time with my boyfriend alone, alright?â
The two boys nodded and made quick steps to leave the place at once, doing their best to forget anything Dally had told them in the last minute of their life. You sigh and move to close the door when Dally props his head out the doorway.
âSheâs a great broad, Ponyboy!â Dally shouted as he yanked the door back open, earning a scowl from you. He shut the door and locked it, giving you grin. âIn the best way possible, doll.â
Although you wanted to spend time with Dally after Ponyboy and Johnny interrupted your make-out session, he really ruined the vibe with his parting words for the two boys. You ignored Dally as he tried to pull you in his arms and moved to sit on his bed instead, crossing your legs and arms then looking away.
Dally rolled his eyes and snubbed out his cigarette before taking a seat beside you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing kisses to your neck and jaw.
âCome on, doll face.â He murmured as his hands wandered underneath your shirt. âYou know I like you.â
You turn your head slightly and meet his eyesâthe ones that only soften around the edges when he was with you. You bite your tongue when he trailed his hands across your stomach, âDo I?â
Dally propped his chin in your shoulder and pulled your legs apart, slotting himself in between and pushing you down onto his bed. âIf you wanted to make-out, you couldâve asked without being so quiet about it.â
You pout jokingly before cupping his face and pulling him in for a kiss, separating when his St. Christopher pendant pressed coldly against your neck. âWhereâs the fun in that, Dal?â
âMan, whatâre you gonna do about it? Weâll all be at the drive-in tonight.â Johnny kicked a rock as he walked beside Ponyboy, his tattered converse scuffing the cracked concrete as they returned to the Curtis house.
Ponyboy had been wanting to go to the drive-in for weeks after they announced they would do a double feature of Paul Newman movies. Tonight was the last night and Sodapop thought it was a good idea to drag everyone alongâeven Dally.
When Sodapop suggested the idea, nearly everyone was on board, but Ponyboy nearly felt his eyes pop out of his skull. If you and Dally were at the drive-in together, who knew what was going to happen. Although you were secretive about it, Dally would do anything to claim what was his.
âIâll keep my damn mouth shut, thatâs what.â Ponyboy stuffed his hands into his pockets as he kicked the fence gate open. âIâm sure theyâll be just fine with the rest of the gang. Besides, what could really go wrong?â
Apparently everything could.
When Sodapop said he was going to drag everyone to the drive-in, he truly meant everyone. He begged Darry far too many times that he eventually gave in and tagged along. Darry didn't want to go, but Sodapop wasn't going to stop until he got his way.
So Darry was also at the drive-in. Unfortunately for you and Dallyâfortunately for PonyboyâDarry sat in between the two of you, afraid that his younger sister might be tainted by the one and only person who could truly ruin her.
Too bad Darry didnât know you were already Dallyâs.
From where you sat, you watched Dally become restless beside Darry, making you bite the inside of your cheek. You knew he was itching to just talk to you even for a second, but Darry being there made it nearly impossible to even breathe near one another. Instead, you met his eyes and cocked your head to the side.
âIâm gonna grab a drink from the concession stand.â You announce loud enough for Dally to hear, but quiet enough to not disturb any of the other attendees.
Darry muttered something incoherent and handed you some change, watching you leave before switching his attention back to the projector. He looked over to his left and noticed that Dally had left too, raising his eye brows at the sight.
âWhereâs Dally?â Darry asked out loud, earning shrugs from the rest of the boysâexcept for Ponyboy.
Ponyboy froze at the question and looked to his right, groaning when he saw Dally's empty seat. He should have known you two would try to sneak away together for even a moment. He mentally cursed both of you before excusing himself, leaving to find the two of you before Darry found you.
While back at the concession line, Dally was all over you. His arms were wrapped around your waist, head tucked into your neck and shoulder, murmuring words he wouldnât dare say to anyone else.
If Darry saw you now, youâd both be dead in an instant.
âYou missed me that much?â You murmur as he nods, continuing his kisses across your neck. âItâs only been thirty minutesââ
âDoll, I havenât seen you all day.â He muttered and moved to wrap an arm around your shoulder instead, planting one last kiss to your jaw before complaining once more. âAnd your damn brother is making it real difficult for me to even talk to you.â
âIf you hate it so much, then whyâd you agree to come?â You roll your eyes before smiling brightly at the cashier, ordering your coke and a small bag of popcorn you knew Two-Bit would want after you returned.
Dally paid for your order before turning back to the conversation. He huffed and rubbed his jaw, voice low in annoyance. â'Cause I didnât know Darrel was coming.â
You look up at him after grabbing your drink and popcorn, a teasing glint in your eyes. "You afraid of lil' ol' Darry?"
âLil' Ol' Darry is a twenty year old man with pure muscle, and I'm datin' his little sister. You tell me.â He directed you toward the back of the seats, not wanting to go back to being separated just yet.
You took a sip from your coke and frowned at his words, looking down at your shoes for a second before Dally noticed your change in appearance.
âWhat?â
âYou know we eventually have to tell Darry. Soda too.â You say quietly and stir the straw, the sounds of gunshots from the movie speakers ringing through the air.
Dally groaned and fiddled for a cigarette in his jean jacket, cupping his hand around the flame as wind blew through the night air. âYouâre tryinâ to kill me, doll.â
You scoff and steal the lighter from his hand, âTheyâre still my family. I canât just never tell them that we're going out Dal, that's not fair.â
He looked around for a second, poking the inside of his cheek with his tongue before looking back at youâshaking his head on how easily you could break his usually tough demeanor. âAlright, when do you wannaââ
"What are you two doing?" Ponyboy finally found the both of you, looking at you and Dally with so much annoyance you swore everyone at the drive-in could feel it.
"I was just getting a coke." You mutter and catch your brother's gaze.
"What's your excuse, Dally?" Ponyboy asked.
He sighed and put the unlit cigarette behind his ear, "Accompanying the missus."
Ponyboy's eye twitched andâfor a secondâDally could see a vein pop on his forehead. "Are you both crazy? Darry immediately noticed that Dally was missing after you leftâ!"
"Sh!"
Dally rolled his eyes at the patrons before responding, thumbs looped in his jeans. "Listen, Ponyboy. I was just askin' your sister when we should tell Darrel and Sodapopâ"
âTell Darrel and Sodapop what?â Darryâs voice cut through Dally's explanation, causing you and Ponyboy to wince and face your older brother in fear.
Not only was Darry standing there with his arms crossed over his chest, but so was the rest of the gangâall of them expressing different emotions at the display. Sodapop wore an amused grin, Two-Bit stared with an open mouth while handing Steve a five dollar bill, and Johnny looked like he was about to run away from the scene.
Dally spun on his heel and put his arms on his hips before turning back around, head shaking in confusion and sudden frustration. âWhere the hell did you come from?â
Darry narrowed his eyes at the boy, "I was going to look for my sister since it was taking an awfully long time to grab a singular drink, but then I saw Pony rushing over here like he was on fire or something."
âDarryââ You try to stop the two boys from starting anything they didn't want to finish, only to be cut off by Darry and his disappointed glare.
âDonât get me started on you." He shook his head and redirected his gaze back toward Dally, the heat returning to his blue-green eyes. "I want to hear from Dallas.â
Silence took over the group, everyoneâs eyes darting between you and Dally to Darry. Ponyboy slowly ebbed his way over to Johnny, picking at his nails in nervousness. He shouldâve known this was gonna happen when he left.
Finally, Two-Bit spoke up, trying to ease the tension but ultimately being ignored by the majority. âOh, come off it, Darry. They ainât causing trouble.â
Dally clicked his tongue and rolled his shoulders back, projecting enough confidence that surprised Johnny and Ponyboy. âWell, since you oughta know now, me and girl Curtis are going out.â
Sodapopâs grin widened when he saw youâhis little sisterâflush red, âWell, shit. I thought that was obvious when we came over. I think Darry just wanted a denial from yâall.â
You pursed your lips and watched Darryâs eyes narrow at the two of you, his fingers twitching for a split second before he moved. He took long strides over to Dally and gripped his arm, pulling him away from you and taking him to the other side of the drive-in. You bite your tongue, holding back any sounds of protest as you watched Dally and Darry speak.
âYou didnât think to tell us before Darry tries to kill your boyfriend?â Sodapop tilted his head and occasionally darted his eyes toward his older brother, watching him closely to ensure he didnât blow his temper in a public space full of socs.
âI was gonna ease it in.â You sigh and drag your hand down your face in frustration, flicking a piece of dirt off your shirt. âYou know how Darry gets when a boy looks at me, let alone Dally. Hell, he almost wanted to kill Steve when he took me to school the other day.â
âNot a fun memory, by the way.â Steve quipped from where he stood by Two-Bit, earning an eye roll from Ponyboy and a snort from Sodapop.
You raise a brow at them before waving a hand in the air, âIf it makes you feel any better, Johnny and Ponyboy already knew.â
âWhat?â Two-Bit spun around and gawked at the two youngest of the gang. âAnd you didnât wanna tell anyone? I couldâve won a bet with Steve!â
âSh!â
âI promised to keep it a secret!â Ponyboy defended himself and crossed his arms, looking at you with slight annoyance. âItâs gross if you ask me.â
âSh!â
âMind your own business!â You and Steve whipped over to the old couple who kept shushing your group, watching them shake their heads and mutter something about âkids these days.â
Johnny scratched the bruise on his jaw, voice quiet after being told to shush too many times. âWe found out on accident. Besides, thereâs no good in arguing about it now.â
Before anyone else could add anything else to the matter, Dally and Darry came back. Neither of them expressing what they truly felt on the inside except. The only thing revealing their feelings were their eyes.
Darry looked like he could beat the living shit out of someone whilst Dally looked a little too proud for your liking.
Everyone held their breath but exhaled silently when Darry stole the keys back from Sodapop.
âLetâs go.â He beckoned his brothers away from the gang, looking back at you with the same disappointed look he gave you earlier. âSay goodbye. Weâre leaving.â
You waited for them to disperse before looking up at Dally with crossed arms, âWhat did you two talk about? Darry looks like he was going to actually kill you.â
âDonât worry about it, everything is fine, doll.â Dally ran rough fingers up and down your spine, watching your rigid figure soften. âTrust me.â
âWorst thing I could do is trust you right now.â You sigh and fiddle with your jacketâs zipper, your voice barely above a whisper. âHeâs not mad?â
âFuckinâ fuming, doll.â He fished the lighter out from your back pocket and lit his cigarette, blowing the smoke toward his right. âBut Darrel said as long as I treat you like the woman you are, heâs okay with it. He put stupid quotations around it too.â
âWhich means heâs not okay with it.â You groan and smack his chest with the back of your hand, putting your hands on your hips. âIâm blaming you if I see you with a black eye and bruises in the next few days.â
âYouâll still like me and my charming smile.â He tucked the lighter back into your back pocket and pulled you closer.
âUnfortunately.â You tease before pushing him away when you heard Darryâs protests from the entrance of the drive-in. âI gotta go, Dal.â
âIâll see you tomorrow, doll.â
âMaybe donât come around our house just yet.â You kiss his cheek and look over back at your brothers:
Darry spun his truck keys around his fingers while he bore a hard stare into your skull, Sodapop tried to distract him, and Ponyboy spoke to Johnny, his eyes constantly darting back to you and Dally.
You turn back to Dally, lips turned down into a small frown. âDarry might kill you.â
âWhatever, man.â Dally ignored Darryâs stare and placed his index and thumb on your chin, pulling you mere centimeters away once more. âIâll see you tomorrow, alright?â
âFine.â You give-in as he placed a rough kiss to your lips.
You hum into the kiss before pulling away with wide eyes when he tried to deepen it, head immediately whipping over to the entrance where Darry was already heading toward the two of you.
âJesus, you have a death wish.â You say quickly with a pink face before you felt someoneâs hand on your shoulder.
âGet in the truck.â Darry pulled you away and shot Dally a dirty glare. âI said say goodbye, not make out with him.â
You shrug his hand off your shoulder and tuck your hands under one another, eyes hardened in frustration for both your brother and boyfriend. âI wasnât!â
Darry muttered something under his breath and opened the back door for you, slamming it when you got it. You dug your nails into the seats, anger flaring in your eyesâjust like your oldest brother.
âYou like him.â Sodapop teased from the front seat of the truck, earning a glare from both you and Darry. He tossed his hands in the air, âWhat did I do?â
âMan, you and Dally are gross.â Ponyboy murmured in your direction and earned a flick to the arm from you. âOw!â
Before you could get him back, Darryâs voice boomed in the car, causing everyone in the car to freeze like a broken movie frame.
âQuit fightinâ or youâre both walking home.â He huffed as he started the truck, driving out of his parking spot and down the cracked road toward the East side of Tulsa. âCanât believe a simple outing turned into a lecture for my kid siblings.â
âWe didnât even finish watching the movieââ
âSodapop, I swear to Godââ
âHey! Iâm not the one dating Dallas Winston!â
âSoda!â You hit his arm when he mentioned your relationship with Dally, making Ponyboy hit you in retaliation and defense. âOw!â
Darry slammed on the brakes and stared at the three of you in frustration, everyoneâs eyes wide at the sudden action. âI want you three to shut up until we get home. And before you say anything else, I donât want anymore talk about Dallas Winston tonight, got it?â
The three of you stilled and stared at the carpet of the truck, murmurs of agreement in the air.
âGood.â
Unfortunately for Darry, before he could move again, Sodapopâs eyes darted toward the side mirror, catching a figure running up to the truck. With the familiar leather jacket and heavy, worn boots, he instantly knew who was approaching the truck.
âIsnât that Dal?â He asked quietly, causing the everyone to turn back and stare at the figure.
Dally pulled the door open and stared at you for a second, your eyes wide in confusion. âWhat are youâ?â
âSorry, forgot something.â He dug his hand into your back pocket and took the lighter back from you, sneaking a kiss to your lips before leaving.
Ponyboy nearly gagged at the sight and Sodapop wanted to whistle, but refrained after seeing his older brotherâs pissed expression. You stared at him with wide eyes as Dally backed away, shutting the truck door and winking at you.
His devil grin glinting from the moonlight, âIâll see you tomorrow, doll face!â

You woke up to the sunlight filtering through the thin curtains, tired eyes squinting at the sudden brightness evading your vision. The bedroom was completely stillâexcept for the slow spins of the fan aboveâand yet you knew the second you stepped out, chaos would fill the house.
Darry stirred beside you, his arm tightening around your waist and head tucking into your neck. âYou awake?â
You ran your fingers through his hair, smiling softly at his morning voice. âMhm, though it seems like youâre barely awake.â
He simply hummed in response and pulled you impossibly closer, pressing tired kisses to your neck and jaw. You scratch his scalp and let the calm from the morning wash over the both of you before you had to get up and run the household like you were running a tight ship.
âYou ready to get up yet?â You ask softly, pausing your movements when you donât get a response. âDarry?â
âYeah,â He groaned and sat up, leaning back on his elbows. âIâm up.â
You giggle and wipe away the tiredness from his eyes, earning a quick kiss to the lips before he swung his legs over the side of the bed and stretched properly. You follow suit and sit beside him, tilting your head to meet his blue-green eyes.
âYou tired already, old man?â
Darry playfully glared at you, âYouâre the one who wanted to stay up all night.â
âAnd you agreed.â You point out and move to stand, laughing when he pulled you to stand in between his legs, his chin resting on your abdomen. You rest a manicured hand on his jaw, thumb gently rubbing his incoming stubble. âWeâre only twenty, Dar. Weâre still young.â
âI know.â He murmured and pressed a kiss on your palm. âYou remind me every day.â
You smile softly and watch him as he stands, resting a warm hand on your waist. He kisses your forehead before pulling out his work clothes for the day, making you spring right into action.
The routine you and Darry had started ever since you practically moved in with the Curtises. While he got ready for work in the morning, you made it your job to get the boys up and ready for their own dayâoccasionally the rest of the gang when they stayed over. Last night, Johnny stayed over.
You knocked on the boysâ bedroom door before opening it quietly, your heart tugging at the sight of Ponyboy wrapped in Sodapopâs arms. You sat on the end of their bed and gently shake Sodapop awake first, watching his face contort in discomfort.
âYou gotta get up now, Pepsi-Cola. I donât want you late for work again.â You say quietly as he finally sits up, exhaustion covering his face. âGood morning.â
âMorning.â He grumbled, rubbing his eyes with his hands and slowly making his way to the bathroom to shower, work clothes in hand.
You sigh and look back at Ponyboy who was still under the covers. âHey, Pony. Itâs time to get up for school.â
âFive more minutes, mom.â He groaned and tugged the blanket over his head, not realizing what he had said.
For a second, you sat frozen at his words. There were several instances where the boys would call you mom, but they were all fairly conscious and said it as a joke. But as Ponyboy subconsciously called you his mom, your heart only ached at the thought. And you could never replace Mrs. Curtisâeveryone knew that.
âPonyboy, you need to get up.â You pulled the covers away from him, looking down at his tired figure with soft eyes. âPlease? You canât miss another day of school or Darryâs gonna have to come down to the principalâs again.â
After contemplatingâalthough you knew Ponyboy just wanted to lay in bed longerâhe begrudgingly got up and shooed you out of the bedroom, muttering a quick acknowledgment in your direction.
You sighed before entering the living room, a sad smile tugging at your lips when you spotted Johnny curled up on the couch. His limbs were hanging off the edge and the blanket barely covered his body, but you knew he would rather sleep here than at the lot or worse, his own home.
âHey, Johnnycakes.â You kneel beside him and put a hand on his arm, careful to not scare him from the sudden action. âHow did you sleep?â
âLike a baby.â He mumbled and gave you a sheepish smile before sitting up, straightening his jacket to have something to fiddle with. âSorry for intrudinâ.â
You stand and fold the blanket, waving a dismissive hand. âYouâre always welcome, Johnny. Hell, Iâd have you move in with us if it werenât for your folks.â
Johnny burned red and nodded, mumbling an excuse about needing to use the restroom. You opened your mouth to tell him Sodapop was occupying the space, but the sudden stomps of boots that came running inside the house interrupted you, the screen door rattling behind them.
âTwo-Bit Mathews and Steve Randle!â You call from the living room as they ran into the kitchen to grab the chocolate cake from the icebox, ignoring Darryâs disappointed look. âWhat did I say about slamming the door?â
âSorry, ma!â They hollered in unison, sitting their asses right in front of the television that was tuned into Mickey Mouse for Two-Bitâs sanity.
You rolled your eyes and entered the kitchen, leaning back against the counter as Darry prepared breakfast for the household. You watched him with a smile, eyeing him up and down before meeting his gaze, his eyebrow raised in your direction.
âWhat? You canât blame a woman for staring at her boyfriend who looks effortlessly handsome cooking.â You brush a stray piece of hair away from your face, cheeks dusted with a light pink hue. âBesides, you chose not to wear a shirt in the morning, Superman.â
âMaybe because Iâm comfortable like this.â Darry swapped the finished eggs for bacon, pulling out the grape jelly for Sodapop and hard boiled eggs for Ponyboy. âOr maybe because your reactions are totally worth it.â
âAw, you love me.â You put a hand on your heart dramatically and smile wider when he pulled you close by the waistband of your sleep shorts. âHeyââ
âI do love you, donât question it.â He murmured and pressed a kiss to your lips, smirking when you gasped at the sudden action.
Darry knew you knew that he hated public displays of affection. So when he initiated it in his own house filled with the boys who you both knew would make fun of the display, you were thoroughly shocked.
âDarrel, man, do you have an ice packâ? Jesus Christ, keep that in the bedroom.â Dally scrubbed his face at the sight of the two you of you and turned away, boots heavy against the floor as he headed back into the living room where he last was.
You pulled away from the kiss, giggling at Darryâs suddenly bright red face. âYou know, for a manly guy, you get red real fast, Curtis.â
âShut up.â He snapped your waistband against your hip and spun you around, nudging you out of the kitchen playfully. âI love you.â
âLove you more.â You huff in amusement and tilt your head back at him, blowing a kiss before changing your gaze toward the boys sitting in the living room, each boy doing their own thing.
Sodapop was lazily laying on the couch with a towel wrapped around his waist, Ponyboy was most likely telling Johnny about his latest book read, Dallas was smoking a cigarette and blowing it in Steveâs face, and Two-Bitâwellâhe still sat directly in front of the television with the plate of cake in front of him, using his hands to dig into the sweet without care.
You sighed at the sight and grabbed your purse, taking money from your wallet and handing five dollar bills to Johnny and Ponyboy.
âFor lunch. If you donât eat, I will find you and make you eat extra for dinner, yes?â You put your hands on your hips and tap your finger, watching them with a careful eye as they nodded vigorously and tucked the money into their pockets.
Sodapop lolled his head to the side and met your eyes, making you raise your brows at his appearance. âWhy arenât you dressed for work?â
âThought I could wait until after breakfast.â He mused, running his fingers through his wet hair before shaking his head like a wet dog, earning an annoyed groan from Dallas. âThat alright, mom?â
You exhale slowly and rub your temples, choosing to ignore what he called you. âAs long as youâre ready before itâs time for you to leave, itâs alright.â You opened your eyes again and stared at the boys as they returned to do their own thing, wishing they would cooperate a little better than they did.
Just as you caught Dallas stubbing his cigarette into the wooden side table instead of the ashtray you specifically bought for him, Darry walked into the living room and put a hand on your back, stabilizing your overworked mind without knowing it. You looked up to your right and gave him a soft smile, earning one back before he spoke to the boys.
âBreakfast is ready.â Darry announced and watched his brothers and the rest of the gang stumble over their own feet to get a piece of real food before anyone else ate itâalmost like a stampede of animals in Africa.
âYou better be washing your hands first!â You call out to them when you heard plates clash into each other, pursing your lips to hide a grin when their groans and complaints rang through the house.
You waited until you heard rushing water to look up at Darry properly, his hand still warm against your back.
He tilted his head down and smiled, âYou ought to be their real mother with the way you scold them.â
âSix boys under one roof? Hmph, sounds like a recipe for disaster.â You rest your hands on his chest, feeling his steady heart beat under your fingertips. âBesides, if Iâm gonna be a mother, Iâd rather it not be with those group of boysââ
âSteve, thatâs not your egg!â
âWell, Dally took my egg!â
âCan yâall shut up?â
âNo!â
You and Darry look back at one another, your laughter and his chuckles ringing through the air. You both knew you would rather take care of these boys rather than send them back to their terrible homesâit was part of the Curtisâ open door policy. Besides, you cared for each boy in their own way, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Sodapop as your main priority.
âYou think theyâll let us have our own breakfast?â Darry moved his hand to your hip and slowly moved toward the kitchen, the arguing from the boys getting louder with each step.
You peer into the crowded kitchen, eyes widening at the sight of the once clean space. âI think they probably ate all the food already⊠Maybe.â
âHey, itâs mom and dad!â Two-Bit pointed the two of you out, the food that was stuffed in his mouth flying out with every word.
The rest of the gang cheered in laughterâeach boy expressing their own opinion on your relationship.
Dallas was beyond disgusted by the two of you, but still agreed that you were both like the parents of the gang; Two-Bit loved calling the two of you âmom and dad,â finding joy in the simple things; Steve didnât care too much, only adding to the joke whenever he felt like it; Johnny thought the two of you were a better set of parents then his were; and Ponyboy and Sodapop?
They loved your relationship the second the two of you made it official all those years ago, not minding too much that you and Darry were essentially their second set of parents. They wouldnât trade the two of you for the world, even if you were both sometimes a little hard on them.
âYeah yeah, mom and dad are here.â Darry pushed through the boys and stole his plate from the counter, emerging victorious with a cup of orange juice for you.
âThanks.â You kiss his cheek before returning your eyes to the scene in front of you, resting your head on his shoulder. âWe sure know how to make a house full, donât we?â
âWell, according to them, we are mom and dad.â He splits half his breakfast sandwich with you. âI think itâs part of the job.â
You look over at Johnny, who seems to be eating more than he usually does whenever heâs over which makes your heart feel a little better at the sight. âI think I like this job, even if it wasnât ours to begin with.â

Thalia was intrigued, more than intrigued, actually.Â
The hunters of Artemis were at camp half blood, just a stop in to rest and check in, currently sitting outside with some of the cabins and the hunters.
âWho is she?â Thalia inquired, raising an eyebrow as she elbowed one of your siblings.Â
âThatâs one of the daughters of Urania, in cabin..198.â They crossed their arms over their chest, looking as Thalia approached you.
âHeyyy..I like your bracelets.â She started, going back and fourth on her boots.Â
âThank you! My siblings made them!â You smiled, looking back at her, the stars seeming to shine brighter. That may have just been for her though,
âI like your jacket, itâs awesome.â Youâd compliment, a grin replacing the smile.
âThank you, Iâm Thalia Grace. And you are?..â she trailed off, letting you fill in the sentence.Â
â[Reader]. Itâs nice to meet you.â
âArenât the stars pretty out? Itâs the time of year you can see Venus. Sheâs beautiful, isnât she?â Youâd look up at the stars in awe, a smile, a genuine smile appearing on your face.
âWow..that is gorgeous..â sheâd look up as well, just as amazed as you are.Â
âSo you like the galaxy?â She would tilt her head, confused.Â
âI love it.âÂ
From then on, you two grew closer.  At times, she thought you were perfect for the group, but every time she brought it up, you would shoot it down.
She understood, of course. Giving up getting older, staying the same age and immortal does not sound appealing, but you would be perfect for it.
âAre you sure? Iâm going to offer this a million times..but are you sure you donât want to?â Sheâd ask, her eyes searching in hope of something that told her yes. But she didnât, you always said you would consider.
âIâll think about it, we can still be close, yeah? I can send you Iris messages.â Youâd bargain, looking into her eyes the way she was looking into yours.
âYeah..I guess..â she said, looking away from you, focusing on the grass.
A few days passed with thinking, you two were sitting on a hill, it was her last day before she left tomorrow.Â
âI think I want to join.â Youâd turn to her, looking for her gaze.
âReally?â She perked up, excited.
âYeah, I think..â a pause. âI think Iâm ready.â
âThatâs..amazing.â Sheâd smile, pulling you to her side.
âIâll tell Lady Artemis.â She spoke, her arm wrapping around you tighter.
