UPDATE ON THE HARPSICHORD COMPETITION RESULTS!!!!

I received an Honourable Mention! I'm the only person with this repertoire who received any award at all. And what's even more interesting: no third prize was awarded, which means I was only one point away from it...

Still, I'm really happy with the result⋆ ˚｡⋆୨୧˚ ⋆ ˚｡

Well...

I came back yesterday from a harpsichord competition. Even though I didn’t win any place (and honestly I still don’t know anything about distinctions or the final scores) I heard from several people that my performance of Marian Sawa’s Missa Orbis Factor was the best one there.

And honestly? That means a lot to me. I was competing with people who have been playing the harpsichord for years, while I’ve only been learning it for about six months and only as a secondary instrument. I simply had too many little slips and mistakes during the performance. But at the same time I have to admit that musically speaking aside from those small mistakes I’m really happy with how I played.

Even though I didn’t get the chance to perform at the laureates concert it was still an amazing experience. The concert hall was beautiful I met wonderful people and I learned a lot from the whole event.

And remember one thing: just because something doesn’t work out once or twice doesn’t mean you’re a bad musician. Every experience teaches you something. That’s exactly why Im already signing up for workshops today so I can keep improving and after that I’m planning more competitions and more trips

sooo i still don’t have the results from that organ competition (even though I was supposed to get them yesterday) but at least I ve regained a little hope that I won’t make a total idiot of myself at the harpsichord competition XD now the only question is how do I deal with the stress?

I DID IT!!! my organ professor finally said he has absolutely NO notes on the adagio section (the first movement of BWV 528) but don’t worry that was definitely the first and last time that’s happening this year XD

A while ago I wrote here that I didn’t get into the organ competition And well… it's very likely they didn’t deduct points for HOW I PLAYED but rather for the fact that I recorded my first round submission (the first stage was online) in a school practice room instead of a church XD

The funny/sad part is that the rules never actually said anything about preferences for the instrument location or anything like that

I’ll only find out what the exact reason for the point deduction was in a few days…

Another day another: help XD for my final organ exam I’ve still got a month left and honestly I’m already sick of playing this repertoire (everyone who feels the same: LET’S UNITE IN OUR SUFFERING)

And you know what the best part is? That these are some of my favorite pieces, and I’m already completely sick of them XD but well… anyone who’s been to music school doesn’t laugh at the circus
