Finding Your Dominant Planets
You’ll often see people refer to themselves as “Libra-dominant”, “Mercury-dominant”, or “[insert any sign or planet here]-dominant,” meaning that their natal chart is colored by this sort of energy. The dominant energy of any birth chart reveals the recurring themes and characteristics that an individual will encounter in their lifetime and is an important distinguishing factor. So here’s a step-by-step guide in order to calculate your dominant planets.
Step 1: Going to Astrodienst Website
The first step would be to go to astro.com, the official website for Astrodienst. If you don’t have an account (and you don’t have to make one), then you’ll find a page that looks like this.
There’s a lot going on here, but there’s no need to be intimidated. You can find your dominant planets easily.
Step 2: Navigation
Hover your mouse on the “Free Horoscopes” tab near the top of the page, right next to the “Home” button. You will see a drop-down menu that looks like this:
As shown on the image above, click on “Extended Chart Selection” in the third column, underneath “Drawings & Calculations.”
*Shortcut:*
If you want to simplify things, you can also access this section with this link.
Step 3: Inputting your Birth Data
Once you go to the Extended Chart Selection page, you’ll be introduced to a page that looks like this.
There’s no need to create an account if you don’t want to, so just click on the data entry page (linked here). Here, you’ll input your natal chart information. I used Marilyn Monroe as an example.
If you’re not sure of your birth time, either choose “unknown” or 12 p.m. for the hour, because that is the default information. Once you’re finished, click “continue.
Step 4: Chart Selection
You’ll be re-directed to a page that looks like this:
Next to “Methods”, click on the “Pullen/Astrolog” tab as noted by the pink arrow.
Next to “Please select the type of chart you want:”, there will be a drop down menu. Select, “Simple chart delineation by Walter Pullen,” as highlighted above. Then click on the blue button to find the chart.
Step 5: Finding Your Dominants
The page will appear like the one below:
Scroll a little below halfway down the page, past the descriptions of your placements and midpoints. Then you will find the calculations for your dominant signs and planets.
It’s a lot of information to process, so let’s break it down:
First, let’s take a look at the planetary percentages:
We can see that Ms. Monroe’s dominant planets are Mercury, then the Sun, then Saturn.
Next, sign percentages:
Her dominant signs are Gemini, Aquarius, and Scorpio (with Pisces ranking a very close fourth).
Her dominant element is air, and dominant modality is fixed.
this is an AMAZING resource to find out what the dominant sign, element, planets, and modality are within your natal chart. i am an aquarius dominant (25.1%) with pisces coming in at a close second (22.5%); none of the other signs were even relatively close to aqua or pisces lol. my dominant planets are uranus (12.7%), mercury (11.8%), and mars / neptune (11.1%). finally, my dominant element is water (35.2%) with my dominant modality being mutable (41%)!

Do you have any tips for a beginner witch that needs to be as discreet as possible? ;-;
Energy work is literally as discreet as it gets. No one else can see any signs that you are practicing magic - it’s all visualization and sometimes sensation. I have an [energy work masterpost] that might prove beneficial - some of the links are dead, but I plan to do something about that today and update it for this blog.
One of the best parts of energy work is enchanting stuff - you can put magic and energy into any item you already own and make it into a spell! Enchanting jewelry is pretty awesome for this, and I do it very often myself. But, seriously, you can enchant soaps / shampoos / body washes as cleansers, you can enchant the food and beverages you drink for healing or strength or protection… Seriously, enchanting.
Meditation kind of goes hand in hand with energy work. It allows one to get in a specific mindset that can be beneficial for magic. Not to mention how relaxing it is - it can be super useful for helping one ground / discharge excess energy.
Sigils are also pretty discreet - you can keep them in a sketchbook and just call them doodles. You can also save them to your cell phone and hide them in a folder. I have a [sigil FAQ masterpost] that talks a lot about sigils, what they are, what they can and can’t do, as well as provides lots of links for creating and charging sigils. [sigilscribe.me] is an awesome website that generates sigils for you, if you find you’re not good at it yourself, and you can just screenshot them and save them to your phone. Sigils!
Candles and incense are pretty discreet, if you are allowed to have fire and smoke in your area. Claim to use them as air fresheners of sort, to make your room smell better. Here is a [candle spell template] and some tips for [selecting and preparing a candle for spell work].
Honestly, phones are awesome for discreet magic. There are apps to make sigils, apps for spells, digital candle apps - even divination apps! You can have hidden folders that contain spells for a secret grimoire / Book of Shadows (Tumblr is awesome for that too, as well as Google Docs).
Using the herbs and spices that you already have in your kitchen is useful. Also, I saw another post mention disguising an interest in herbs with an interest in cooking - if you can or want to, that is. So yeah, kitchen magic can be hidden pretty easily too.
[Tea magic]! I almost forgot this one! Just develop a sudden love for drinking tea. There are so many different kinds of teas that can be charged for so many intents.
Bath magic is pretty low-key too. Again, you can enchant the soaps and stuff you already have, or you can get some basic supplies for baths. Epsom salts are pretty cheap, and super cleansing as well. I have a huge bag of lavender Epsom salts at home, oh, so good. You can also enchant bath bombs!
[Knot magic] is awesome and secret-ish. Weave and braid strings together with colors matching your intent, infusing your energies into it as you do so, and boom - wearable magic. You can give them to friends and family too, and add things like beads and charms to boost imagery and intent.
Pressing flower petals and storing them for later is pretty mundane in appearance, and can also be labelled as a “they smell nice” thing.
Crystals can be for aesthetic, because they look nice - same with any sort of rocks you find outside that you may want to use in magic. No one necessarily has to know or suspect that they are used in magic.
If you want to do more divination… A deck of regular playing cards can be used to do readings with - it’s called [cartomancy]. You can [make your own pendulum]. You can try [shufflemancy] or [stichomancy] too. Computer or phone screens that are shut off can be used as scrying / black mirrors.
You can practice outside, when the weather is nice, and if you happen to have any ideal locations nearby. (There’s a few forests within a half hour’s walk in my city, for example.)
If you wear makeup, you can turn your daily “getting ready” ritual into setting up glamours on yourself. Some posts on [makeup magic] and [cosmetics and glamour].
That’s what I was able to come up with, I hope it’s useful to you! Here are some further links that may have more information:

Artemis [Greek, Olympian]
A page from my grimoire.
Goddess of: the Wild Mountains, the Crescent Moon, Girls, Childbirth & Midwifery, Weaving, & the Hunt.
Zodiac sign: Taurus; her birthday is May 6th
Planet: The moon, specifically the crescent moon
Lineage: Daughter of Zeus & Leto & sister of Apollo.
Primary cult centres: Brauron, Delos, Ephesos, & Sparta
Artemis is one of the most ancient deities in the Greek Olympian pantheon. Her name is of an unknown etymology & her origin rests in earlier, pre-Greek mythology.
Artemis was the Goddess who looked after young girls. The Arkteia, young girls who imitate she-bears, are protected by Artemis and eventually offer their childhood to her when they move into motherhood.
Artemis is the lion among women. She can spare their lives in childbirth, or she could take it away. The clothes of women who died in childbirth were left as offerings, much like the hunter would leave a pelt for the Goddess when he had a successful hunt. Likewise, when women had successful childbirth without much pain, they would consider this the work of Artemis & leave blankets for the Goddess. She assisted her mother, Leto, painlessly birth Apollo, Artemis’s twin brother.
Artemis is a virgin & is the only Greek Goddess to wear a short tunic, symbolic of her perpetual maidenhood & almost boyishness. However, she is a virgin by choice - representative of her fierce independence & autonomy. In fact, some say Artemis was the only Goddess to never be kidnapped or raped.
She has 20 Amnisides Nymphs as her handmaidens & 60 daughters of Okeanos, all aged 9 in her choir. She chose these as part of 12 wishes granted to her by her father. All of her companions remained virgins.
Artemis had various men interested in her & this never worked out well for the men. The river god Alpheus, Bouphagos, Siproites, Actaeon, Orion, &The Aloadaes are among the men that have loved or wanted her. These men often threatened her with rape or kidnapping. However, she was afraid of none of them & usually killed them, had them killed by animals, or turned them into animals. Sometimes it was some combination of the three.
Artemis can teach us wildness, independence, and a love of nature. She protects women, children, and anyone who exhibits exceptional self-sufficiency or who defies cultural gender roles. As a goddess of transitions, she helps us pass from one state to another. As a bringer of light, she can illuminate our lives and help us find our way.
In ancient Greece, cities prayed to Artemis before battle when the situation was a matter of life and death. When the options were to be victorious or be destroyed, they prayed to Artemis for survival. When they won, they would sacrifice in excess to her. Artemis can help us face whatever life throws at us. She teaches us how to adapt, survive, and never just be the sum of others’ expectations.
Festivals & Worship
The 6th day of each month is sacred to Artemis.
Artemisia: Modern festival of Artemis where anything goes, celebrating freedom & modern inspiration. Celebrated on June 6th.
Elaphebolia: festival held in Athens & Phocis during Elaphenolion [March-April]. Modern Hellenistic practitioners observe Elaphebolia as a holiday which falls on the sixth day of that month. [March 1st in 2020]. Cakes made from flour, honey, & sesame in the shape of stages were offered to the goddess.
Mounikhia: 16th of the month of Mounichion of the Athenian calendar. Was created to commemorate the victory of the Greek fleet over the Persians at Salamis. Cakes w/ candles were offered to the goddess & young girls dressed up as bears.
Kharisteria: Festival of Artemis at Athens to thank her for their survival of the Persian assault at Marathon. Celebrated on 6 Boedromion [September/October].
Mounykhia: 16 Mounkyhion [April/May]. Festival to Artemis as a light bringer.
Brauronia: Festival to Artemis at Brauron & an initiation festival for young girls. At this festival, girls & maidens dance in their bear masks w/ phallus’ strapped to them. The dance was slow & solemn as it was meant to imitate bears. Baskets of figs were also carried. The earliest participants actually wore bear skins; however, they were switched to Krokoton dresses. The dresses were short, saffron-yellow chiton, at the end of the festival they shed their dresses to symbolize maturation. Offerings found here are many, but include spindles, spindle whorls, loom weights, epinetra, textiles, & garments. Celebrated every 4 years.
Thargelia 6-7: May 6, which is the birthday of Artemis & Apollo.

What to Do with a New Tarot Deck? How to Charge & Store Your Tarot Deck? Beginner’s Guide.
Now that we’ve discussed how to cleanse your Oracles or Tarot cards deck, let’s move on to charging/blessing and storing it correctly. I will also teach you a small ritual to help you PASSIVELY manifest your goals with Tarot.
How to Charge or Bless a New Tarot Deck?
You can charge your new Tarot deck once or you can charge it after every time you cleanse the cards to give it an energy boost.
Alternatively, people also wonder how to bless their new Tarot deck?
My favourite way to bless a Tarot deck is by chanting a beautiful Mantra or an affirmation.
Charging Tarot Cards Deck with Moonlight or Sunlight.
Moonlight:
Full Moon is the perfect time to charge your new Tarot cards deck.
You can simply place the deck on the area of your home that is usually hit with Moon light.
You can also surround your deck with crystals. Not only you will also charge your crystals with powerful energy, you will also give some of that energy to your Tarot deck.
Sunlight:
What I do NOT recommend:
I do not recommend charging your Tarot cards deck with direct Sunlight. Depending on the material used for your Tarot deck, this can result in images fading.
INSTEAD, you can wrap your Tarot cards in a cloth and only then put them under the Sunlight to charge.
Final Tip: I advise that if you use this method, you charge your deck with BOTH Moon and Sun lights to balance the feminine energy on the Moon and the masculine energy of the Sun.
Charging Tarot Cards Deck with Music
Sound is an excellent choice for charging objects.
Choose one from the following suggestions:
Sound Bowls. You can use regular metal singing bowls or a crystal bowl if you have it. Those vibrations are very powerful.
Mantra. If you are using Sanskrit Mantra, make sure you know the meaning and also try to choose something neutral and not dedicated to a deity, unless you are working closely with a specific God or Goddess. For example, Mantra “Aham Prema” (I am Love) is a better choice than “Om, Krishna”. Also, check out 108 Mantras, they are the most powerful. These are essentially Mantras chanted 108 times, which is considered to be the sacred number.
Meditation music with affirmations. There are many to choose from on YouTube. Good example is “I am the light of my soul” by Snatam Kaur.
Charging Tarot Cards Deck with Elements - Simple New Tarot Deck Ritual
This method is incredibly powerful and great to give your Tarot cards or an oracle day the ultimate energy boost. It is also the longest one in a sense that it requires the most prep time.
Just like with Sun/Moonlight method, you’ve got to keep balance when it comes to elements.
You can’t turn to the power of Fire and Earth elements and leave out Water and Air.
So, if you are choosing this method, here are the instructions:
Place your elements according to the four directions: East - Air, South - Fire, West - Water, North - Earth.
Place Tarot cards or oracle cards deck in the middle.
Starting with East - Air, ask the element to charge your Tarot deck. Activate each element. For example, light a candle, ring the bell or pour water in the cup.
So a short meditation. Just imagine how the power of the elements is charging your Tarot cards.
When you are done, express gratitude to the Elements and the Source.
Choose from the following to represent each Element:
Air: incense, bell, feather, smudge stick
Fire: candle, burn paper or herbs in a cauldron
Water: fill a cup or chalice with water, place sea shells, collect rain water
Earth: place salt or soil on a plate, use crystals, plants or flowers
How to Store Your Tarot Cards Deck?
There are three options for you:
1. Store it in the original box. This is perfectly acceptable.
2. Store it in a nice pouch. Preferably, this should be made from a material that is not see through.
3. Store it in a scarf. No, not in your winter cashmere infinity scarf. For divination or Tarot deck storage, use a scarf that is beautiful, it can be bright in colours and it should have flowers. This is an old practice and there is a reason behind these specifics.
Why you should store your Tarot deck using these suggestions?
Well, you probably already know the answer. Tarot absorbs energy. Tarot gives energy. Tarot exchanges energy.
To prevent all this from happening in unnecessary times, it is better to keep your deck stored in a closed environment.
But…WAIT!
Final Bonus Tip!!
How to PASSIVELY Manifest Your Goals Using Tarot Cards!
What you need to do is take your Tarot cards deck and choose a card that will represent your desired goal. For example, you are seeking abundance, so you choose 10 of Pentacles.
Now, take the Court card that REPRESENTS YOU in the tarot deck.
This card will be the last one at the bottom of your deck, image facing you.
For the purposes of this exercise, stick to the astrological correspondence of the ELEMENTS. For example, if you are a female who is LEO, your Element is FIRE and your Tarot Court card is Queen of Wands.
(If you have no clue what your card is, leave a comment below and I will help you out.)
Place that “Manifestation” card, which is 10 of Pentacles in this example, on top of your court card, image facing INside of the deck.
So, your Queen of Wands image faces 10 of Pentacles.
This will create a closed energy loop and will work on passively manifesting your goal, while you are not using your cards.
