Thinking about the alyx line in hl2 about how Dog used to be a lot smaller when he was first made and it was alyx who kept adding onto him.

Thinking about how small dog is in hl2vrai, a universe where alyx seems to not exist in the same way.

I absolutely adore Little Dog but I can’t stop thinking about the implications of his existence

In base Half Life 2 Dog is a giant robot, but he didn’t start off that way. He was initially this tiny little thing built by Eli to keep Alyx company, which Alyx later added to (hence the whole giant robot part)

It’s not a 1:1 match, but I think Little Dog is another example of sequence breaking and characters from the original game (especially pertaining to Alyx) being changed as a result

Little Dog is even smaller and more rudimentary because there was no Eli Vance to build him. He was never expanded upon further because there was no Alyx (at least in the story) to add to him

The game knows Alyx and Dog SHOULD be there, but since there’s no reason for these characters to exist they’re simply there as shells. Alyx is (mostly) mute and completely bugged, and Dog is a tiny little thing that can’t do much more than follow the crew around.
