Fool's Mate №56, 1986
SS (japanese punk band)
The Kyoto-based band SS is rightly considered an early hardcore punk act, as they were the first in Japan to play with such audacity. They are even held in higher regard than bands like Bad Brains and Black Flag.
Their songs were very short due to their aggressive and fast tempo. If I’m not mistaken, they were all self-taught and could barely play. However, the punk movement in Tokyo and the success of the bands coming out of it became a clear challenge that they wanted to respond to. This rivalry mainly revolved around the band Friction: the members of SS were shocked by their performance when the Tokyo Rockers came to Kyoto.

it contains text against the genocide in Palestine. in general, many japanese hardcore punk bands were against wars, for example, Gai, GISM, The Execute, and others. i even remember that Sakevi Yokoyama sent weapon designs to the Palestine Liberation Organization.
