Things that writers really really wish existed, but don't, that they throw in stories anyway:

Human Off Buttons (hitting on the head with no consequences except unconsciousness, Vulcan neck pinch/neck chop of unconsciousness, chloroform)

Teleportation/Rapid travel for those who likely can't (a kid can get anywhere on a bike, poor teens all have cars, horses that run forever, people just show up where you need them)

Human Factory Reset (amnesia trope: total memory loss and no other cognitive side effects)

Magic Abs (all men have magnificent abdominal muscles, no matter their profession, personality, or ability to exercise)

"I just need to turn this guy off for a little while." "You mean sleep?" "No. Faster and less ability to wake up."

huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while

I remember people bringing up Essek's apathy towards Adeen as a reason he shouldn't be redeemed, and I'm like... bro wasn't even in his redemption arc at that point. That was during the time he was outright saying, "I don't regret my actions, I only regret how they hurt you." When we see him in A Walk to Warmer Welcomes, his tune has changed to, "My actions were fucked up, and I'll do whatever I can to right them." I feel certain his feelings on Adeen have changed since High Seas, High Stakes.

I'm kind of obsessed with Hal being a D-list celebrity in Dol Makjar like that man cannot go anywhere without being clocked. Strangers at the club ask him to sing karaoke for them. The literal king of a foreign country knows who he is. Even the fucking mobsters he's fighting in the sewers are like "wait a minute, is that-"
