Are there any fics (any length) centered around romantic Zelink pairing in a fantasy action/adventure setting?

Thanks for this continuous undertaking!

There are quite a few! I would say that it is probably our largest group within the archive, to be honest. As such, I'm going to run this list, but it will not have notes because it's so long. I'm going to qualify that the list I'm running is going to follow general genre standards for both fantasy and action/adventure (vaguely medieval, a greater focus on the questing than the romance, magic over technology, etc etc). There are a few more that might fit from a magical modern setting, but since this list will already be bulky, I'm going to skip over those for core fantasy. Will also, since it is in the query, only include fics and not other mediums we track. I'm also going to bold the works that have yet to be spotlighted!

where do I start...

Ganondorf’s rule has made all of Hyrule very dangerous, and there are only a few safe havens remaining (Hateno, Kakariko, Zora's Domain, Goron City). While they have no control over Hyrule anymore, there are still a king and queen, who live in Hateno along with most of the knights. They send Shadow on regular expeditions to Castle Town, but he usually gets killed before he makes it anywhere near Ganondorf, and then Impa has to revive him through the Dark Mirror.

Many locations are safe for the Gerudo and Yiga, though. Intelligent monsters are less inclined to attack them because of Ganondorf’s orders. The Yiga function as a neutral party within Hyrule.

Green grew up as the prince in Gerudo Town, where he was mostly raised by Nabooru since Ganondorf was often at the castle. Lowkey kind of spoiled, always thinks he's the leader

Blue is a knight in Hateno, though he's just starting out. Him, Shadow, and Zelda all know each other prior to the story starting.

Red was raised by the Sheikah chief, and when they died, his brother, Juniper, became chief. Juniper is very important to the story, but I can't say why...

Vio is the black sheep of the Yiga. He HATES bananas. He was mostly raised by an old woman named Hinaga, who joined the Yiga just a few years after their founding. She is also very important for later reasons!

Shadow has been using the Four Sword for years and had no idea what it was. He dropped it in the castle, so he's sent to get it back. Blue follows him to "prove his worth as a knight," while Green goes to the castle because he heard Ganondorf talking about this mysterious sword that matches the mark on Green’s hand. Vio goes to the castle because he wants to talk to Shadow, and Red goes there to get parts for Purah (yes she's here too). Then they're all like.....we're quadruplets??

The four of them reluctantly work together to figure out what's going on with these sword marks on their hands, even though they do not get along (for obvious reasons)

Four swords au where everything has gone wrong

When Link dies and Twinrova fully revives Ganondorf at the end of the oracle games, Zelda and Impa make a last ditch effort to defeat Ganondorf: they pull the hero's shadow through the Dark Mirror to make him fight in Link's stead. Unfortunately, Shadow is not prepared for this and has no training, so he fails too. The mirror allows him to revive every time he dies, but even as he gets stronger, Ganondorf does too, until 301 years pass and Shadow still hasn't managed to defeat him.

Ganondorf heard of a new Link that had just been born, and goes to hunt him down. But the Four Sword is used on Link, even though he was only 2 at this point, and splits him so that Ganondorf can't kill the only chance at a new hero. Ganondorf is able to get ahold of Green, however, and instead of killing him, decides to raise the hero on his side.

Red ends up in Kakariko, Blue ends up in Hateno, Vio with the Yiga, and everything somehow gets worse when the colors happen to meet and realize something's up here

Adventure Fantasy | General | AO3 | Ongoing

Synopsis: Old Hyrule may be underwater, but that doesn’t mean that relics from the kingdom of the past can’t be dug up. Link, a young man that works with the Old Hyrule Expedition Group and attempts to retrieve lost artifacts from the seas around New Hyrule, unearths a mysterious mirror and unknowingly unlocks the path between two worlds. Now that New Hyrule is being threatened by an inhabitant of the Shadow World that is out for vengeance, Link has to accept his role as a hero and fix the mistake that he accidentally caused. At least he picks up a few allies along the way.

This story straight up sparks joy. It’s funny, there’s adventure, there are fun characters, and some juicy mysteries! With just a few chapters out yet, we’re still at the beginning of the journey, but what a start! I love Link in this, he starts out so naive, and he’s the ultimate good hearted reckless hero with way more courage than wisdom. The dynamic between him and his shadow self Dark are fantastic, and we’ve seen little of Zelda but she already stands out as a hands on princess. Very much looking forward to more of this! - Karama9

Shadows of the past begins with a familiar feeling for those who've played several LoZ games: Link wakes up from a nap. He's a bit of a lazy bum, but he has his heart at the right place. His initial task is to retrieve historical artifacts from the sea that covers Old Hyrule. He finds a mysterious mirror, and when he realizes it's a portal, he does the only logical thing: he goes right through. What could possibly go wrong, after all? Well. How about just everything? He accidentally sets off nothing less an usurpation and after seemingly losing Zelda to the usurpers, he's left to pick up the pieces. If he wants or not (and he does not). His living shadow finds him and offers help, but is it smart to trust him after being tricked so harshly? Probably not, but sometimes options are limited, so he does anyway. While there are only two chapters out at the moment, the beginning already promises a fast-paced adventure for everyone who likes games like Twilight Princess and A Link to the Past that dip their toes into the possibility of a dark counterpart to Hyrule. - ZeldaElmo

A unique set up as elements from Hyrule's past return in its new location and old alike. This quest looks to have Link and his Dark World counterpart traveling together, a twist that sure to lead to some interesting adventures as they cross New and Old Hyrule to save it once again. - amelias-hart
