May I offer you a Varric ami in this trying time? I need to take better photos later (managed to get one decent shot before I had to head out for the weekend), but I finally finished my big huge enormous (15"/38cm tall) Varric ami! 75 hours of work or so, from start to finish. No pattern (I use my own personal base pattern as a guideline and just go apeshit with freehandlng all the everything); crocheted with acrylic yarn and stuffed with polyfil. He has wired arms, needle-felted face details, and his chest hair and tunic details are embroidered. Fabric marker and chalk pastels were used to add some detail to his face (such as his stubble). All that info, plus a little more, in the image description.
Finally finished the stuffies for @asynca's kids!
(Yes, the house is a mess.)

The Winter Maw, 2026
a totally handmade, fully-functional marionette created for the annual "Winter Exquisite" gallery show (this year's chosen medium was puppetry) at the Forbes Library in Northampton, MA - if you're local, you can visit anytime between the 7th & the end of the month!
for the winter theme, i designed a monster that blends my appreciation of this season's beauty with a more sinister, predatory element representing struggles against seasonal depression. bringing her to life was a huge learning experience & i got to try out a lot of new materials/techniques - i'd never made a marionette before! she took me all January but i'm very pleased with the result.

Crocheting amigurumi is weird when you get to the 'dismembered body parts lying around waiting to be put together' stage. The horror-loving part of me wants to crochet pools of blood and Xs for eyes and just leave them scattered there.
Continuing on my knit amigurumi streak-- meet the flying squirrel, Nalbongi by Mongaknit! They have some of the cutest knit (and crochet) softies free on Youtube! I am not a fan of video instructions though, so to show my appreciation I purchased a few of the pdfs on Ravelry.

Btw don't believe any Etsy ad or things trying to sell this pattern to you. It's been free since the 90s. It's very simple, just double crochet and color changes. Be sure to weave in ends as you go unlike me
