Basically my first thought when this scene came up....my second thought being "omg venti"
I know he probably couldn't see the little projections of venti and varka and whatever but imagine if he could he'd be so confused
so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god
okay so i just got my dream job??? a week after applying to it?? and now i’m thinking….maybe this is the good luck post
…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
likes charge reblogs cast, folks, this is the good luck post
i need all the help i can get for finals
Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
I could use some luck
i love chuuya’s brown eyes and thats why:
soukoku really are soulmates and that’s often emphasized in official art
in the manga, chuuya and dazai have the same eye color, but different shades. dazai’s leans more toward black, highlighting his dark soul as a “demon prodigy.” chuuya’s, on the other hand, are warmer, emphasizing his brighter side, the part of him that reaches for life
they both have broken souls, but they experience them differently. dazai often said that happiness is taken from him, while chuuya lost friends (betrayal/death)
dazai reflects chuuya’s darker side, his deep sadness hidden within him. chuuya, in contrast, reflects the vivid emotionality dazai hides behind his masks
hoshikawa portrays their eyes differently, which i absolutely love. chuuya’s eyes are burning FIERY while dazai’s are almost black, consumed by darkness. to me, this highlights their partnership, their soulmate bond, and their closeness far better than bones did
soukoku also have an almost identical color palette, and it’s NOT contrasted (unlike shinsoukoku)
in SB, soukoku were described as one soul split between two different bodies, and their color palette, their eyes confirms that
Getting back to line art and practicing things with my dear Durin. ✨
That one friend who never takes their own advice 🤡
Durin is not a child in my opinion
P/s: English is not my first language so I'm sorry if I make any mistakes
I don't think that he is a child, newborn, or minors at all.
The only people who actually called him "child" are Venti and Anderdotters. Venti called everyone in Monds as 'children', even Dvalin, who is a grown dragon, even from way back then. Anderdotter is obvious because she's his mom (Mini Durin)
We don't know when OG Durin was made, but we do know that he is older than Albedo. Proof is Gold uses him as her failed experiment disposal, one of them is Subject 2. And we don't know how old he was when she released him.
Mini Durin is not his real body, he just changed it so he can fit in with the villagers. He was that big dragon before, but because he was too big and clumsy that's why he was cast away.
We don't know when An passed, but she is part of the Hexenzirkel and a mortal, so she must have passed hundreds of years ago. That will mean we don't know how long Mini Durin was in the Simulanka.
People like to bring up how he acts like a child in Simulanka. For me, he acts immature and childish, but not like a literal child. Remember, he was in the Simulanka, which is a storybook for children, so yes, there is an explanation as to why he acts childishly. Even the adult villagers all act the same way. Because it's literally a storybook like a fairytale
People bring up the two weapons. I read through it. One doesn't mention anywhere that he is a child, just that he thought he was having fun, but he was actually destroying things. The second weapon is the Festering Desire. People point to a single line that reads "This is a memory, a memory that a child named Durin had of his mother" and think it proves he is a child. But no, this story is about a mother and her child. They use 'child' because this is their relationship. A mom and her child
The current human Durin is not entirely Mini Durin. In 5.6, it is revealed that Subject Two was absorbed back into Durin. Durin will be awakened again. OG Durin was a gentle dragon, but because of years of solitude, abyssal corruption, AND the memory+resentment toward Albedo from Subject 2 (I think some people forgot that Durin gained the knowledge and memory of Susbedo after Sus was reabsorbed), Durin was twisted into an evil dragon. That's why Albedo figures that if he combines OG Durin with Ander's Durin (aka Mini Durin), with the hope that Mini Durin's pure and gentle nature will be able to override that. And two will exist as one person, aka The current Durin (Let's call him Human Durin)
The current Human Durin doesn't act anything remotely close to a child at all, he's shy because he have never actually interact with normal people before and remember he is both OG and Mini (if we count subject two too then it'll be three) both Durin have not actually confirmed to be a child anywhere beside Venti and Anderdotters whom I already explained above. He's smart, he knows what he is doing, he's not some baby that need to be protected, he have subject two knowledge and memory because it was also revealed that Subject two was alive the entire time (500 years) not only that OG Durin was older than Albedo so he must have seen Gold performed alchemy. In the story quest, I would argue that Durin acts a lot more mature and even has to stop his brother from yapping too much and just get to the point.
People bring up the whole "Hey, kid" from Jahoda. But here is the thing....Jahoda called him "Onii-san" in JP....unless you're telling me "Onii-san" means "kid" somehow? In Kr, it doesn't mention what she addresses him as. In CN, she called him "小哥" (yes, I actually went to Bilibili for this). I research what it means. Apparently, if you are close, as in familiar or family, it would mean "younger brother," but if you are a strangers or not close, then it would mean "Young Man/Young Fellow" which is what Jahoda and Durin relationship is.
A lot said "Well, young man means he's a teen" No?? Young Man can literally be used for anywhere between 15 to 25 or even early 30s in some places. In Genshin Impact, Ororon is called a "Young Man" you can't tell me that Ororon is a minor. In the story quest, VARKA called Durin a "Young Man" too
Some people actually said "Well he uses a short male model so he must still be a kid like Bennett, and his voice sounds young too" Hello? What about the other short males? He doesn't look anything like a child; he doesn't even act childish. I would argue that Dahlia sounds even younger than Durin and that man loves to get drunk with Venti (Venti also sound young btw. It depend on the VA) Also, Bennett is not a child either, he was proven to be in his 20s with the Mare Jivari quest.
Some other things that I notice are his dripmarkets. People only look at the first and forget the second. The "evidence" that people point to is the words "Horned youth" and believe that's the proof. Again, just like "Young Man" Youth can mean anywhere between 15 and 25.
The second dripmarket said he embarrassed himself at the Tavern and I think....why can't it be anywhere else? The Knight Of Favonius, The Cathedral, Good Hunter? Or heck, even Albedo research lab all the way up the mountain, maybe he messed up while helping and embarrassed himself there, literally anywhere else would be more believable, but I checked every single dripmarket from different languages and it's always the freaking Tavern. Why does it have to be a Tavern? An adult place. Listen, I know that Taven can serve non-alcoholic drink too. But that's not all, he was able to order his own drink at a Bar in the story quest, and I know "That bar has non-alcoholic drinks". But I do think it's weird that this supposed "kid" was mentioned anywhere near adult places twice. Even his brother, Albedo, whom people believe is an adult, and he is! But Albedo never got mentioned anywhere near those places. Also, Albedo is called a Teen Prodigy too if I'm not mistaken, and no one thinks he's a kid. Btw, just because those places do serve non-alcoholic drinks, doesn't fully mean he's a child either. We need to look at the full context here, A tavern and Bar are adult places, it mostly for adult even if they have non-alcoholic drinks, so we can't use that to "prove" he is a child either. That's like saying people who went to Chuck E Cheese (primarily for kid) they also serves beer, means that Chuck E Cheese is for adult. That doesn't make sense.
I saw on X that people use the excuse to say that in Germany, people can drink alcohol at 16. First, Mondstadt is not Germany, yes, Hoyo takes inspiration, but it's not completely Germany either. Not only that Genshin Impact rated 12+, but it's also from a Chinese company. And we all know how crazy censorship in China is. Do you really think Hoyo would put a minor drinking alcohol in Genshin Impact? The drinking age in China is 18. Selling or drinking is NOT allowed. Diona is different, she sells drinks for adults, she DOES NOT drink them. I don't think Hoyo would risk showing or mentioning an actual minors drinking alcohol especially a 12+ rated game like Genshin
Another thing people said was that he just got his new body so he practically a baby. Well in that case, Ineffa is a baby too because Aino found her and make her the current body. Do you see how weird that is? Unless you're telling me that Aino is an adult like Dori who can drink alcohol, then you can confirm that Durin is a child but Aino, from the story so far beside her brilliant mind, she still act, behaved and talk like a child. Meaning, we can't use that to say he is a child either. His body is new but his name, memories is very very old by now
The only minors in the game are Noelle, Fischl, Klee, Qiqi, Diona, Aino, Yaoyao, Kachina and maybe Razor. And I'm not saying it's fine to goon for the other like Nahida or Dori because they literally look like children and have a baby model. But Durin doesn't use a baby model, he uses a short male model and you can't say "Oh Hoyo is just lazy" no with all the points I give out above, there are reasons why they don't use a baby model for him because he is not a kid. Just like all the short male models, none of them are proven to be children either, even Razor (I just can't find reason to point either he is a kid or an adult). And before you think Chongyun, Xinqiu, Gaming, Freminet, Mika, Bennett aren't children either. Chongyun is proven to be able to drink alcohol and was drunk for a while in a past event, Xinqiu is his best friend so they would be around the same age, Mika can drink he just said he gets drunk really fast, Freminet is a bit more difficult but if we look at Arlecchino quest and calculate a bit then Freminet would come out at between 18 and 19, Gaming's whole story from the Lantern rite was growing up and moving out, he got a job and pay his own bill. Diona has a job, too, BUT she still stays with her dad. Bennett was born in the Mare Jivari and was discovered shortly after. In the quest, it is mentioned that the Mare Jivari disappeared 20 years ago, meaning Bennett is at least 20 years old.
(Edited) I want to add another small thing. OG Durin and Mini Durin are NOT the same dragon. Both are created by different people. Anderdotters created her Durin based on the real Durin to "give him a better ending" so they mirror each other but not completely the same. If Anderdotters created Mini Durin based on the OG Durin that would mean both of them were isolated for who know how long. Gold isolated her Durin for who know how long until she released him. Mini Durin too was isolated so that's another reason as to why both of them act the way they do i.e naive and childish
So that's my opinion as to what I think about Durin. I get that some people feel the sense of witnessing him growing up, but for me and for some others, I have never seen him as a child, even Mini Durin. I saw him as a creature with no age attached.
So if you want to write smut or fanfic for him. I'd say go ahead because, like I said above, there is no legitimate proof that he is a child, and the "proof" that people said can be explained so easily.
And please let us all be respectful of others' ideas. If you don't like something like this and are still convinced that he is a child, that's your own thing, and, like I said, let's be respectful because yours is not 100% either and so stroll away, ignore it, no need to go all crazy over those that have a different view than you
That's all I have to say about this whole Durin thing. Sorry if I make any grammar mistakes, English is not my first language but I do hope my words are easy to understand to you. Of course I am open to anything idea and refute but please be respectful. Goodbye and Thank you for taking the time time to read!
once again thinking about ororon's voice line about kinich (and ajaw, since they're a package deal): "Ajaw is an interesting case. He's old, but also young... And Kinich is just the opposite — young, but also old. You know what I mean, right?"
like man. that's just such a good, clear cut summary (and this is also why i love ororon as a character so much, he has a very precise way of cutting to the essence of things; but that's a different post altogether). ajaw is very much an infantile monarch archetype, he has the power and the resources, was born (or rather created in his case) for a specific role that can't be challenged and as a result he never questions himself and his place in the world which leaves him rather naive. kinich, on the other hand, was born with nothing but a very clear and drastic understanding of his own lack. he was forced to grow up fast and fight for his place in the world and as a result he questions and measures and quantities everything and everyone.
and that's why they clash and also work so well as a duo, comedic, narrative or otherwise. they fill out the missing aspects of the other very well and create a more balanced view than either of them can achieve on their own
moutaineer xiao x celebrity venti au | made because i got obsessed with watching mountain expedition videos again
Alright alright- you mentioned also seeing a bit of the same kinda vibes with Enjou & Ajaw/Kinich-
So now I need your Ajaw/Kinich headcanons because I love them so much??? Platonically, Romantically, in a weird QPR, or the inherent attachment you feel because of forced proximity- their relationship is just soooo funny to me
Ajaw & Kinich are so. SO. complicated.
They start off as - what is basically - businessmen. Kinich made a proposal, and Ajaw accepted that proposal. They are men of trade and payment. They work together well enough, and they tolerate each other. Then, at some point, i feel like Ajaw MUST have started learning about Kinich.
Either through observation, psychological evaluation, rumors & hearsay, or words straight from the source, you can slowly start to put together a person like a jigsaw puzzle. Not to mention, I wouldn't be surprised if Ajaw was as invasive as a housecat.
I say this because we know that Ajaw - during his grand reign - used to have human slaves. Slaves don't have the right to boundaries, privacy, etc. So, when Kinich is taking a shit, if Ajaw wants something, His Grand Lord Flying Waffle probably just popped in and asked, no hesitation. Why would he care if a being lower than dirt is defecating? Or if he's showering? Etc. He wants grapes bought and served to him! NOW!! Kinich's priorities come AFTER.
But then, funnily, consider he's with the one mother fucker who wouldn't care. Like, at all.
We know Kinich was raised by saurians more than people. His parents were both terrible, his mother abandoning him and his father abusing them both, which creates complications mentally, and then his dad dies. He's left alone and pushed aside by society. He raises himself, effectively, in the wild.
But, this is suddenly where it both explains why he wouldn't care if Ajaw walked in on his more private moments, but also explains the root of why they BOTH would learn and grow to understand one-another.
Now that we know for a fact that Ajaw is the 10th Lord, we know he was abandoned by his own species. He was laughed at and secluded, though he often willinging chose seclusion - resting on mountains and removing himself from society. Still, when he was in danger and tricked by a pair of Heroes, the other dragons just laughed at and mocked him, calling him foolish. They said his fate was deserved.
Did the people of Natlan say the same of Kinich? That his fate was deserved? They certainly didn't treat him kindly, didn't welcome him back with open arms... They were cruel. And now, we have two men who were isolated and brought up in cruelty, ignoring each other's boundaries constantly, and being assholes to one-another.
They're literally the perfect match made in Hell.
I know, it sounds toxic as shit to say that, but the truth is that Kinich's seclusion was ended years ago, and he's since then tasted friendship. He knows what love can feel like, trust, and devotion, whether towards him or a cause... he's had warmth. He knows it. Ajaw doesn't.
At some point, i think - through Kinich - Ajaw will learn what warmth is, as well. It's in the way he gives him those grapes, even though he doesn't necessarily "deserve them". It's something Ajaw genuinely likes. It's how Kinich and Ajaw seemed to share this soft moment after the events with Ifa and the little saurian, actually talking a little and apologizing honestly, and that wasn't contractual. That was just because.
It's the fact that just like Kinich, Ajaw will start to put EVERYONE together like little puzzle pieces, and he'll start to understand that people do things simply out of good faith, kindness, and morality. He'll probably laugh at these notions at first, but kindness really has a way of worming into even the darkest, most depressed hearts and uplifting them. Ajaw isn't any different. He's not an exception to this, he's part of it.
So, from here, you can go whichever way you like with Kinich & Ajaw, keeping them begrudgingly business partners, purely there for trade - or, like me, you can spin them romantically, because I personally don't think ANYONE would understand Kinich/Ajaw as well as Ajaw/Kinich would. They're... weird.
They're little weirdos, and I love them, honestly.
I love thinking about the way Kinich most likely wakes up to a waffle, snoring sweetly in his bedsheets, or even a full-sized pixel dragon. I think they have inside jokes. I think they make breakfast together sometimes, half because Ajaw gets fed up with Kinich "doing it wrong" and half because I think Ajaw will want to repay his kindness with some small gesture.
I think Ajaw doesn't know he'd hate if Kinich actually died one day. I dont think he realizes how much more that would take away from his life than "just another human slave" - and I think it would shatter him. I think if Ajaw was ever deleted/erased, Kinich would lose more than just power. He would lose... love.
I dont think Kinich would live past losing Ajaw.
I think Kinich puts Ajaw in timeout these days when it's obvious to him Ajaw needs an EXCUSE to hide: Like with Ineffa. She freaked him out. That's the reincarnation of one of his past bullies, the source of his distrust and trauma, just STANDING THERE.
Kinich wanted to be there for the Traveler, but to be there, he needs Ajaw, but he doesn't want Ajaw to get hurt, so what does he do? Sticks him in a box. Ajaw grumbles and makes noise, but i think he'd be relieved. Kinich is being kind by putting him out of view.
There's honestly a lot of canon in what I wrote, but headcanon between the lines... I think my headcanons are very vast and built on all of this material, so I might need another (more specific) Ask to whittle it all down. 😅 but I guess, IN GENERAL, i think they love each other. I think they're soulmates, and that first cold, hard transaction was the beginning of fate for them.
But I also have silly & sexy headcanons for them, too, so if you wanna know more about those, just tell me, and I'll embellish like a silly little imp! 😈💜 LOL! XD
Thank you for the Ask! I've missed you 💙🫂🩵
Tit for tat (22pages)
🦖🌿 happy birthday kinich 🫶
They just seem so tired!!!!!
I haven’t had the chance to talk about this so it’s now or never. I am a definite believer of Ajaw being CL-10 but I don’t really have much concrete proof (at least I think) as most of it is based on how I view Ajaw and the behaviors I observed.
First thing that threw me instantly off the idea that Ajaw is 04 is merely 02’s comment on 04 being old and decrepit. Yes, disdainful and decadent are both traits that Ajaw has but at the same time I fear most of the lord have these two traits. Ajaw constantly boosts about being almighty and powerful, and sure CL-02 could be just making a jab at 04, but being described as old and decrepit isn’t every almighty and powerful, you know?
Secondly CL-10’s behavior and title. Ajaw is fairly foolish if I had to say so myself, his greed is genuinely unmatched and his pride/ego is unshakable. With how CL-10 got sealed up, aka via getting fooled by some humans with a fake jade, it seems to me very in theme of Ajaw’s over all personality.
As for his title, I have a theory that I may discuss more in depth in another post when I get the chance, but I think the titles genuinely mean something to the lords. The best example of this is Ixlel (Ink goes one day without mentioning her pooks? Challenge failed) HEAR ME OUT. Ixlel is known as the Chronicler of the End times and if I do say so myself that’s a pretty important part of her character. She literally experienced the end times of dragons first hand and if I had to guess she saw them hence why she fled to Och-Kan in order to survive. Back to Ajaw, he suffered INTENSE isolation. Sealed up in god knows where with little hope of ever meeting any living being again, yeah pretty isolated. Now let’s compare both of the titles:
I’m sure someone can make an arguable point for 04’s title (please someone do cause I genuinely can’t think of anything) but It is more clear to me with 10’s. “Undying Wings of Lofty Isolation” in other words “can’t die dragon of high/resilient/noble/other synonyms for lofty Isolation”. We sure know as hell that Ajaw isn’t dying anytime soon and I’m bringing back the fact that Ajaw was definitely isolated for an unknown period of time.
Anyway yap time over, in summary this is more or less why I believe Ajaw is 10 and not 04. If someone wants to tell me more or argue (not aggressive way, I love seeing other peoples povs) let me know ❤️
I've mostly seen Xiao's animal form being a species ambiguous borb, but I like to think he would be an (un)common kingfisher..I think it suits him
if ajaw would have it his way, he would have an extremely luxurious but entirely uneccessary million-step skincare and hair care routine, and would demand the fanciest soaps and washes, and he would be in the bath for approximately two hours
meanwhile kinich is the "men's 13 in 1" meme
