#was it chill & nonchalant when I cried in full view of the coffeeshop over lone redwoods planted in parks in Europe who grow alone #& over baby trees get 4 wks more of warmth bc they’re shielded by their elders from the chill so it’s warm to them & thats when they grow #& over the fact that trees survive better when they are connected & it is harder for them to live alone #or when I learned that the difference in thriving in drought for species can be those who live in a harsh climate less than 1 mile away do #better than their brothers in areas of plenty. Instead of being the first & hardest to suffer they learned how to ensure their survival #or when one of their trees in their fungal network gets cut down or breaks or dies they send nutrients & it can sustain for yrs this way

It's so, SO important to share success stories like this. I know an actual JPL engineer who doesn't believe in climate change because, "you never hear about acid rain anymore."

He thinks climate change can be lumped in with acid rain and the ozone layer of "things that were overblown and not really important because no one talks about it anymore."

It didn't even occur to him that we actively fixed the problem. Here's the EPA page on acid rainfall.
