Baa baa backstreets, have you any boys
putting carbonated water in my super soaker and spraying it at dogs (they absorb the bubbling nature of the liquid and begin to ascend into the sky) (thousands watch in awe) (no one does anything) (the sight is, in essence, divine)
*gently takes your face in my hands* hey. remember that fandom is for fun. if you're not having fun it is ok to step back. if you're intentionally making it unfun for others it is ok to step back. none of this is real. go sit in the sun and smell a flower. i love you.
âtumblr is nice because itâs anonymous and irrelevant so it doesnât affect my real life in any way.â Wrong. if you are on here for long enough the words of your mortifying adolescent internet diary will be written on the subway walls and tenement halls and out of the mouths of coworkers and over the faces of tiktokers and and in reddit screenshots posted on instagram sent to you by your friends and in ai dupe novelty t shirts and in the smiles of strangers repeating bits you forgot you left lying around on here when you were a teenager. and also pinterest.
Had a minute at work to look it up, and I did find the title!

#O Ancestors! I cry. What is your wisdom for times like these?#Start a garden and have a cuppa. says my great-grandmother who went through the depression#Lie your ass off to the government and have a cuppa. says my great-great grandfather who escaped the potato famine#Keep your humours in balance and have a cuppa. says my ancestor who survived the bubonic plague#Bring tribe together so many make strong and have cuppa. says my neanderthal ancestor#BITE THEM BITE THEM BITE THEM. Says my small arboreal ancestor. ALSO LITTLE TREAT.#Thank you for your wisdom ancestors. I say and turn on the kettle. - gallusrostromegalus

There's this whole story unfolding on TikTok right now about this account that got popular â a woman in the US who calls up churches & pretends to have a starving newborn that hasn't eaten since last evening & asks them if they could help her out with a can of formula. Unsurprisingly, none of the ridiculous megachurches actually ever say yes, and the churches & other religious institutions that did say yes are getting lots of support from people.
But I just saw a video of a TT user explaining that they decided to do their own little social experiment â by walking up to drug dealers on the street, telling them there's a young woman with a baby who needs help with formula, and literally all of them immediately reached into their pockets. In this story, the OP did have a real neighbor with a baby who ended up getting some much needed baby supplies. Thanks to the charity of local drug dealers.
A lot of Americans are learning that their rich white Christian churches are less willing to help their communities than black churches, mosques, buddhist temples & apparently also crack dealers.
Today is the only day you can reblog this

People love natives in such a superficial way. People wanna stand with natives when weâre talking about the trees, and the land. People wanna stand with natives when we talk about philosophies of love and togetherness. But as soon as itâs time to talk about political side of being native. About dismantling a system built on the genocide of our people. About how we need a new system that isnât built upon capital gain and benefitting white bodies. About putting up a fight. About how the colonial state we reside in is a disgusting imperial plague on this land. Suddenly yâall donât wanna talk native.
"They spent hundreds of years trying to assimilate my ancestors, trying to create indians like me, who could blend in, but now they donât want me either. They canât make up their minds.
They want buckskin and face paint, drumming, songs in languages they canât understand recorded for them but with English subtitles, of course. They want educated, well spoken, but not too smart. Christian, well behaved, never question. They want to learn the history of the people, but not the ones that are here now, waving signs in their faces, asking them for clean drinking water, asking them why their women are going missing, asking them why their land is being ruined.
They want fantastical stories of Indians that used to roam this land. They want my culture behind glass in a museum.
But they donât want me." -Shelby Lisk

BLESS YOU, YOU Â WONDERFUL PERSON
my top travel tip I've never seen anyone else recommend is: choose a lamb to slaughter.
now, it's important to note that you can't just pack or buy something with the sole intention of leaving it behind to appease the forces of chaos. nor can you throw that candy wrapper in the hotel room trash can and call it even; if it's indisputably garbage, it doesn't count. the sacrifice must be chosen from among the actual belongings you brought with you, and you shouldn't designate it until you're packing up to leave.
with your eleven o'clock checkout time or uber ride to the airport fast approaching, take a final, grim inventory. the ideal lamb to slaughter is something small, lightweight, easily replaceable. of little monetary and no sentimental value. a spare USB-C cable that's sorta worse for wear, but still works. one of those little travel toothpastesânot quite empty yet, but you can snag another at any drugstore. the nub of an eyeliner pencil you could've used for another week.
take the lamb out of your bag, kiss it goodbye, and place it on the nightstand or bathroom counter or wherever you would've left it if you'd just accidentally overlooked it while packing up. then, to karmically cancel out any additional effort the housekeeping staff will have to expend to dispose of your lamb, gather up all the sheets and towels in one easy-to-grab pile on top of the bed, and leave.
I used to lose stuff every time I traveled, and they were usually things I'd actually miss! but it hasn't happened once since I adopted this superstition a few years ago. and sure, the practical explanation is that it naturally forces you to think about everything you brought with you and check in the places you'd be most likely to leave them. whatever. I find it way more fun to believe the universe craves chaos and blood and expensive prescription eyeglasses yet is reasonable enough to be negotiated down to a half-spent ballpoint pen instead
