Spoilers ahed for the entirety of TADC, finale included. and TW: for speaking of SA, rape, abuse and suicide
Yes, jax is a bad person. Yes she deserves love. Yes she is a bully at best and an abuser at worst. Yes she still deserves to get to redeem herself. Yes you absolutely can sympathize with her. As you can hate her guts. The finale wasn't meant to show you something to sympathize with or something to hate, because that's what people have been trained to do, they either make you their saint or burn you at the stake.
Let's start from her context:
Jax was, from what we know, one of if not the most traumatized person in that circus. She suffered severe neglect from a parent and severe abuse from the other, on top of being a closeted trans woman. She ran away from home, she slept in the streets. Think about that. I want you, reading this post, to think about what your family could possibly to make you have the reaction she had. Think about what your life would have to be, for it to be worse than living on the street, eating garbage, exposing yourself to violence, hunger, unwanted sexual advances, sometimes even rape (although rarer as a male passing person), and jailtime, which for someone like jax becomes an even higher chance of rape. Think of the humiliation you'd be willing to go through to just escape. Think of all that you'd be living behind, think about how she doesn't have any of that. Jax committed suicide. Think about what would take you to that extreme. She did fully knowing what she was doing. Because she fully believed she wasn't worthy of having a life, she didn't deserve it. She was in her 20s. You all talk about her as if she was this irredemable evil mastermind, while she was just young, and scared, and crooked with no one to straighten her up (this is referring to her awful ways of thinking). Do a reality check on yourself, gangle and ragatha were severly bullied. Neither stood up to him or asked for help. While ofc they are the victims there, no sane person would let themselves be walked all over them that way, and if we were to ignor their flaws in favor of them being the victim here, we'd be doing the same mistake of discounting jax's just because she was a victim. Jax was able to perpetuate her cycle of abuse also because she was surrounded by people who were also mentally unwell, who also kept feeding her bad behaviours. Now we get to the worst thing she's done, being the cause of ribbit's abstraction. Now, I want to be VERY clear with you: pushing someone into suicide and being the cause of someone's suicide are two VERY different things. Jax never told ribbit to go kill herself. They had an incredibly toxic relationship. There were other people ribbit could be with. She decided to obsess over jax. Which is fair and understandable, but once again, she also handled the situation poorly because she came from a bad situation. Jax has been as horrible to gangle, ragatha and ribbit just as much as she was horrible to herself, and this makes my point. She is not irredeemable. She needed someone like pomni, someone stable to help her. Just one person was enough to get her to be better. Imagine being in a system of good people, who love and care about you enough to help you grow and back on your feet. Which is why I loved the finale. Because the people in the circus couldn't be those people, which ultimately lead her to committing. Real jax is now somehow less traumatized than DC jax, because she hasn't seen the two people she (secretly) actually cared about die. She never had the chance to bully gangle or ribbit or ragatha. She is getting to be in a friend group of stable enough people that love her, She is getting her shot at redemption in the real world. And she is lovely. And I still love her.
I know everything happening in the world rn is scary. I wanted to share with you a project that has been warming my heart tho, and I really really want to bring to the attention of the like, 2 people who will read this post. A YouTuber I have been following for around 10 years has launched the kickstarter for the game he wants to develop. Cydonia has started his career on YouTube by talking about pokemon, and while he has branched out A LOT through the years, he kept following the brand in it’s slow and ruinous decline. He loves Pokemon, and hates where it went and is going. This is one of the reason that brought him to want to develop the game, a monster collector roguelite (with some horror elements) and it has genuinely a ton of potential. It’s also a *no AI* studio, a small newborn Italian studio doing it’s best to make this experience as artistic as possible. The game was funded in 10 minutes but the campaign is still going to make it more polished and refined, so I urge you to give it a look, and pledge something if it interests you.

As for the pacific ocean, it could be that a lot of tumblr's population comes from the united states so the choice was between that and atlantic, or it's just that it would be perceived as a more gentle lover due to the "pacific" part.
