Itâs currently my reading week, which obviously means that I am ignoring my school work in favour of reading my books. Which feels fantastic now, but will probably back fire at the end of the week when school starts again.

My rating: âââââ (5 out of 5 stars)

Thoughts in brief:
If you are looking for an action-packed story with a tight plot and lots of drama, then this book will not be for you.
But if you are looking for a gentle, funny, warm-hearted novel? A novel that explores thoughtful questions about life and death, the purpose of humanity, why we share food, and the contrary nature of onions? If that's the case, A Psalm for the Wild-Built may be just what you have been searching for.
Can you tell already how much I loved this novel? I've read the first two novels in Becky Chambers' Wayfarers series and one quality that really strikes me about her writing in those books is how full of kindness it is. That kindness is on full display in Psalm.
I mentioned above that the book delves into weighty, complicated issues, and you may be thinking that this means it will be heavy-handed and preachy, but that isn't the case at all. On the contrary, Chambers handles these issues with a deceptively light touch and great care and sensitivity.
Did I mention it is also less than 200 pages long?
A Psalm for the Wild-Built is a beautifully written work that is an antidote to the often cruel world we live in. It's also my first five-star read of 2022 (and actually, the first five-star read I've given in over a year).
I've got a rainy day today and plan to spend most of it in my pajamas on an exploration through English language fantasy.
I'm not as good with reading physical books as I am with audio books, but there are some that are much better when read from a physical copy (or my library only has a paper edition). So I have decided to put time aside to focus on my physical books today and give them the time they deserve.
