I think people interpreting Robin as bi instead of as a lesbian reveals how little people value platonic relationships.

Like people talk about how much Robin and Steve care about each other, and how well they get along and how they trust each other… so that obviously means they must be romantically interested in each other. Except no, all of those things can be present in a platonic relationship as well. A man and a woman can have a deep, emotional, and important relationship that happens to be platonic.

Look, I’m bi and I love bi representation, but Robin is a lesbian and she isn’t interested in Steve as anything more than a friend. And that’s ok, that doesn’t make their relationship any less important just because it’s platonic.

Re-blogging this from myself cause I wanted to add the most important part: before that first pic she acted like she was 100% on board with her granddaughter being gay while her granddaughter was there and I think that’s great. She had misgivings about it based on religion and upbringing but she cared enough about her granddaughter to not be an ass about it to her granddaughter. And all the above is after she’s out of the room. Who you are is not your gut reactions. It’s what you do with them.
