A missing scene. Thanks for all the fanart and fic throughout the years, you guys
Look I can see both arguments for and against the finale, and probably canât articulate my thoughts well enough right now to do either justice.
At the end of the day, it made me feel empty.
People who are happy can be happy, and Iâm glad that they are, and maybe theyâre right, but it still made me feel awful. Maybe it was amazing, maybe it was perfect and loving and wonderful and thematically sound and the best we were going to get under the circumstances, but I wonât gaslight myself into pretending the ending of S3 didnât upset me and didnât feel like a loss. It did.
I donât like martyrs, and I donât like destructive endings. Iâm tired of shows making me fall in love with characters and worlds only to blow them up in a grand, dramatic climax for the purposes of raising the stakes and "doing the right thing". That is not the only way to end a story, and it doesnât sit right to me that more and more frequently it seems to be the only ending people think is worth writing.
Thatâs a personal thing. I like stories with intimate stakes that feel grounded on a smaller scale. I like clever resolutions that circumvent the odds and let the characters come out on top. I like endings that don't feel like endings, rather than simply the place where our part of the story stops while the characters go on. I don't like when the stakes get higher and higher until the writing loses track of the ground it originally stood on. That's me. It's okay that it's not everyone.
The ending of season one made me have hope, it made me happy, it felt cathartic and joyful and lovely. And I get it, the world sucks right now and we're all jaded and traumatised, but fiction does not have to relfect reality to be justified or meaningful. In a story, becuase it is a story, not everything has to end.
There's more I could say and probably more than a lot of it is positive. Maybe I'll have the words for it eventually. For now anyone who's read this far gets to sit with my sleep-deprived ramble fueled by one cup of coffee and not enough time to process.
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone talking about God yelling at Crowley that she doesn't owe him more after the story is finished. It felt very pointed and very much like Neil Gaiman is mad at us. Like he didn't make the decision to continue the story on his own.
Which really drives home the feeling of "You know what? Fuck it. Fuck these characters, fuck this universe, and fuck you too" that the finale gave me
boyfriend went from "i liked the good omens finale" to "i fucking hate the good omens finale" all because he thought too much about the nicaean catholic dogma of trinity.
"how can jesus be used like that and end like that when jesus is himself god. stupid ass lutherans"
For a moment I thought they were going to spend eternity together in the cosmic bookshop writing the whole universe back in existence in the blank books...
a bookshop full of two things: white books ready to be used to rewrite everything, and the diaries aziraphale kept that recount thousands of years of history.
wasn't the whole bit in season one that aziraphale and crowley really didn't do anything in the grand scheme of things, that the human characters were the ones with agency and who actually ended up preventing the end of the world
when did this become the aziraphale and crowley make big decisions show
THANK YOU. I totally respect that some people liked the ending BUT I can't get behind the idea that this ending was perfect narratively. We've strayed so far from s1 that people have forgotten the whole point of the original book.
I also specifically care more about s1 than anything else bc it the only part Pratchett actually had a hand in writing. Fuck Neil Gaiman.
IS THIS JUST ME
hi everyone bringing back a "lets all thank ao3 volunteers"
the Great AO3 Shutdown sucks but its not the volunteers fault. thank you fellow readers for your hard work. signed, a survivor of the 2023 hacker shutdown

It is astounding to me the differences between AO3 Tumblr and AO3 Tiktok. On Tumblr we are "panicking" about the site being down, but are also fine and understand that everyone is doing what they can to get the site back and running. Whereas on tiktok, everyone bitching and whining that it's taking to long and that this is the reason they don't donate. That it's just a fanfic site, it shouldn't be that hard to fix the system, blah blah blah.
Like I can understand being upset, but be upset for the right reasons. You are not the only one being inconvenienced. You are not the one logging series hours of unpaid labor to fix the problem. It is not the end of the world. It is also not the only fanfiction site out there. Most of them are shitty, but hey it's still fanfiction. It's not that hard to be compassionate and understanding.
This has been a great couple of weeks to be a Honda Odyssey driver
Fantastic update to this post: I just rewatched DP&W at a drive-in IN MY HONDA ODYSSEY
1.5 years later and I'm pleased to report that another victim of useless lesbian syndrome has miraculously recovered. How did we watch gay honda odyssey sex in a honda odyssey *while wearing matching bracelets* and not realize we were madly in love? I couldn't tell you, but we're dating now.
via NYPost: Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing to launch a âbig fâking operationâ across sanctuary cities â including Chicago and New York â immediately after President-elect Donald Trumpâs inauguration, multiple sources told The Post.
Starting Jan. 21, multi-day âground operationsâ will be launched across cities that have served as safe havens for migrants because the local authorities do not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to immigration issues, sources said.
Denver too.
My friend teaches high school history and allowed his students to do their chapter summaries on their chosen biographies as originally created memes. He said that he had never had kids read so carefully to find the most obscure detail from chapters to make their memes. [pro-tip, for younger middle school/elementary school students, make a folder of popular meme templates, to avoid uncomfortable internet searches}
This reminds me of my class watching the 90s film and when it got to this scene some guy in my class shouted out âhoe donât do itâ and then 5 seconds later -sigh- âhe did itâ.
Shakespeare would have loved this đ
#honestly i think having students submit one meme per scene/chapter of a reading would get them wayyy more engaged#bc youâre looking to find smth funny in the text#which means youre looking for surprise youâre looking for inconsistency youre looking for contrast#youre doing a critical reading! My 6th grade english/social studies teacher used to let us get creative with how we present what we learned. You could write an essay if you want, or run a different project by her. I wrote songs about Greek mythology, made crossword puzzles with our vocabulary words, and was even allowed on multiple occasions to make dioramas in Minecraft of whatever ancient civilization we were learning about in that unit. That was 11 years ago, so I don't know if the kids still dig Minecraft like we used to, but after the first time I presented a Minecraft project, even the kids who hated social studies class were excited about doing their next project. Definitely one of the coolest, most ADHD friendly teachers I ever had. If the rest of my schooling was like that, I would've learned a lot more.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYO đđđ
I love the shift in doctor who from âthe tardis is a woman in the way a boat is a womanâ to âthe tardis is a woman in that it sorta has a personalityâ to âthe tardis is a woman in that itâs a living sentient being with a literal soul and she actually controls herself because she likes taking the doctor on adventures and she loves the doctor so so much and theyâre each others family and he takes care of her and sweet talks her and gives her little kisses and theyâre marrieddddâ Thatâs how every guy with a boat feels anyway
