Why all the polls?

Hi, so I thought that I should explain why I make all these polls. I am trying to get a general understanding of what the opinions are of the fandom regarding different topics and theories fans have, particularly the ship wars. I think both sides tend to misrepresent the nuance for each others' positions. I would also like to have a neutral platform to discuss said theories and topics where everyone remains respectful. Some of you may think some of the subjects of polls are silly. You are entitled to think that, but I ask that you remain respectful and keep negative comments to yourself.

Who are your favorite female characters in acotar?

Sorry for the delay! I have been very busy this weekend.

My favorite female characters are:

1) Elain - I identify with her in many ways. We have similar hobbies and have a more traditional feminine style. I love how she avoids conflict and confrontation, but if the occasion calls for it, she will stick up for those she cares about. I love the mystery surrounding her powers as a seer.

2) Nesta - She is a curmudgeon with a heart of gold. I have a lot of people in my life who are like this who I love dearly.

3) Gwyn - She has a fighter's spirit and I love her perseverance in the face of adversity. I also love that even though she is athletically gifted, she is also an academic.

4) Nuan - Fellow STEM nerd.

5) Nuala and Cerridwin - They always mysteriously show up when you need them and I think their friendship with Elain is very sweet.

Since it is Gwyn week, I thought I would share one of my favorite qualities about Gwyn. It is that she fights for her mental health and pushes herself to work through major trauma. Struggling with trauma and mental health myself, it takes all the willpower and courage you can muster to move past the events that set you back. Gwyn is very self aware of her feelings and that combined with her courage helps her fight for her peace. That is why I do not like the arguments against Gwynriel that they would never happen because she hasn't left the library or that her SA would prevent her from fulfilling Azriel's sexual tastes. She is incredibly resilient and fights for her peace and in ACOSF. I am sure we will see her grow past her trauma even more in future books.

I think a major theme of Elain's book will be the nature of mating bonds. I think the book will shed light on the true nature of mating bonds, their origin, and explore the dichotomy of free will and fate. I think it will also expose potential preconceived notions some characters have about mating bonds as well whether we get an Elucien or Elriel book. Again, this is just my speculation, but I look forward to learning exactly why they exist in the first place in the SJM universe. It is a very popular theme in Romantasy, but I notice that a lot of books just take for granted that they exist without exploring why they do. It is a theme I ruminate quite a bit these days as I take another big step in my own relationship with my partner who I feel in my own heart is the closest thing to that person you are destined to be with for the rest of your life.

I am looking for the best fanfics with queer ships. What is your favorite?

I just wanted to say I appreciate all the Gwynriels and Eluciens who have been kind and welcoming to me. I know it's hard to trust an Elriel leaning multishipper intentions when you have been burned so many times. I really appreciate your input and have enjoyed conversations with a lot of you. I think most of us in the fandom are kind and open people. We just are not as vocal with our thoughts.

I love the juxtaposition of Lucien, the witty foppish dandy and the rugged outdoorsman. It is so hot!

I am an avid reader, but my background and my strongsuits lie in STEM. I open with this for two reasons: I know literary analysis is a whole other animal, but the philosophy I take from it general is to keep an open mind.

When it comes to theories and ships, I think the clues from the text and from SJM's more strongly suggest that Elriel is the next book. However, I also see the evidence for other potential ships such as Gwynriel and Elucien as well. I won't go into why I tend to favor Elriel. We have heard all the arguments over and over again. However, I am not putting all my emotional eggs in the Elriel basket for several reasons. First and foremost, it's just a piece of fiction. At the end of the day, there are much more important things to worry about. Secondly, I love Lucien. He is my favorite SJM male and I do see how Elucien would make a great story and a beautiful couple. Thirdly, Gwynriel appeals to my geeky side and I can see how Gwynriel would connect on a more intellectual level. Finally, I love the fact that there are so many possibilities to speculate about. On a quantum level, we have Schroedingers ships right now and SJM has written an infinite number of outcomes in the next book. At the end of the day, we might get a few things about the books correct, such as ships, but I have a feeling SJM will surprise us. (Hopefully, she will deliver on more original plot devices too.)

Overall, I enjoy the positive side of the fandom with all the theories, headcanons, fanart and fanfics. I try to be objectively critical when any side has a bad argument. I like to interact with as many different content creators as I can, because you are an interesting lot. If you would like to discuss anything with an Elrielish-quasi-multishipper no matter who you ship, I am always here. I will never attack you or allow others to disrespect you in my little blog. It is a safe space to ENJOY the fandom.

Oh, and Azris is the hottest ship despite the fact I am pretty sure it won't happen. 👀👀👀
