We need to tell high school students more about what college is like. Most generally donât know, other than dorms and dining halls and frat parties like what they see in movies. I, for one, had no idea what college was like, just that I was expected to attend and that it would be necessary for a career (itâs not necessary, just helpful depending on what you want to do).
I just told a high school history class all the awesome classes Iâve takenâlike my Austin Powers/British espionage class, my 1900s Fashion History class, my Wicked the Book/Musical communications class, my invented languages class [linguistics regarding Elvish, Klingon, and more]. They lost their shit!
Because a lot of them assume itâs just taking *another* world history class, *another* plain old math class, when really theyâre more focused and specific and sometimes even fun.
A lot of them thought they took the same classes every day, and were so pumped to hear that you generally take a class twice a week (more if itâs math or languages, in my experience) and you could have days where you have 6 hours between classes. They also were psyched to learn that a lot of classes donât have daily work, just readings and essays every once in awhile (once again, depending on subject) and then a midterm and final.
They just ?? had no idea. And we should really change that.
The minister for school standards in England wants to ban mobile phones in schools. As someone who works with young people and primarily sees them in school, here is a list of things Iâm able to do with young people who have their phones with them.
1) Putting my work contact details and other support agency details into their phones so they can contact someone in emergencies. This prevents them having to go through their parents to access help.
2) Downloading apps that help young people with their health, such as mood trackers, drinking diaries, anger diaries, etc. Our work is way more effective when clients have an easy way to track these things.
3) Accessing reliable websites with good quality safety information. Also, accessing poor quality websites young people have been using so I can show them why the info isnât always trustworthy.
4) Young people have shown me abusive texts and messages theyâve received, which has enabled me to take action on it.
5) Same goes for digital evidence of sexual exploitation.
6) Showing young people various things they can do as positive coping mechanisms, e.g. meditation videos, music, etc.
7) Making direct online referrals to agencies that can provide support. Showing people how they can find information on local urgent care provision, food banks, sexual health clinics, etc.
In other words, phones are a protective factor for vulnerable young people and we should be making more effort in teaching them about positive ways to use phones instead of trying to take them away.

Itâs like these songs were MADE for each other.
Nurse Chapel: Now if you donât follow his orders, McCoy could and possibly would have you hauled down to sickbay and fed intravenously. Eat.
Chapel: If you donât take some time to release your emotions, Doctor McCoy will give you something to release your emotions about.Â
Chapel: If you donât get your vaccines, McCoy will find and stab you in your most sensitive places when you least expect it. Better let me do them now.
Chapel: If you donât sleep, Doctor McCoy will bitchslap you so hard youâll fall into a coma and finally get some rest.
Bones, crying in Sickbay: WhyâŠwhy is everyone so afraid of meâŠ

Technically speaking, a scientific experiment canât fail. At worst, you only find out something other than what you were trying to find out. Like that your experiment set-up was stupid and poorly planned.
Kirk: Hey Spock, do you know my blood type?
Spock: Yes, itâs B positive.
Kirk: Ok, I guessed wrong. Hey Bones!

Iâve been seeing the tag #breakthesilence about how doctors are treating pregnant mothers and I wanted to add something.
I was told by a good friend about a year ago about how flippant doctors are about patients informed consent. She explained how an OB was trying to force a woman to have a C-section and told her the baby would die without it. My friend explained that the baby wasnât in distress but she couldnât say anything because she would lose her job and be smeared in the medical community.
This and several other reasons are why Iâm terrified of doctors and have to be near death to seek medical help.
Letâs be serious for a moment and consider this please
Can we drop the stereotype that to be an INTJ you must be emotionless? In all seriousness, that shit is so unhealthy.
Being an INTJ and being a psycho/sociopath are two different things.
Separate them.
I completely agree!
A List of Things This INTJ Does NOT Comprehend
°affection (i.e. PDA, invasions of personal space, the importance of those 3 words) °tradition that serves no purpose °how to hold a conersation that i find uninteresting °how to steer a conversation where I want it to go °how to suck up to people °non free education

I believe that the little voice inside of us that tells us we canât do âthe thingâ is a learned voice...over the years iâve learned to hate that voice and live my life to spite it!
