Hi, I'm Wil! This is my blog. I've been here a while, but I figure now is as good a time as any to share a little about myself.
So hi, my name is Wil! I'm a 22-year-old genderqueer lesbian from the Pacific Northwest. My birthday is August 29th, I'm a Virgo sun/Libra moon/Taurus rising, and I actually prefer when the weather is bad. My fragile white-people skin does not get along with the sun, I fear. I'm a big fan of mythology, folklore and storytelling, and consider myself pagan rather than religious. I do a lot of reading, writing, memeing and lyrical analysis here.
I'm a writer by nature. My mother is an English major and all throughout my childhood encouraged my love of reading and writing. She would take me to the library once a month to check out books, and I did a lot of summer reading challenges. English was always my best subject in school, and literature continues to be one of my biggest passions in adulthood. I've been writing an urban fantasy trilogy for several years now that I hope to publish soon and also consider myself somewhat of a poet.
I'm also a musician and a singer, though perhaps not a great one yet. I've been learning to play the acoustic guitar since March 2025, can play the drums passingly, and have been teaching myself to sing for the last two years. I'm forming a band with friends right now, and I hope to eventually upload my own music. No telling if I'll ever make money off it, but you never know, and that isn't really the point to me. Some of the biggest influences on my style are Los Campesinos, Crywank, Peach Pit, Liana Flores, Bears In Trees and William Gold/Lovejoy. I love analyzing lyrics and understanding the stories being told in them.
Other hobbies of mine include painting, hiking, video games, TTRPGs, Magic: The Gathering, cooking, baking, makeup art, perfumery and mixology. I'm a bit of a hobby collector if you couldn't tell. I'm a lover of niche things and oddities, and that reflects in everything about me. I often joke that I come off as a manic pixie dream girl to people who only know me in passing.
Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.
#yes! cynicism reads as very juvenile to me#and yes prev often stemming from teen pain
Yeah, like I see black-pilled people on here and my default reaction isn't "oh, these must be world-weary old warriors who've lost their faith in humanity", it's "these people are in their 20s and need a hobby"
I also think that the present era has proven that authoritarian leaders don't actually want a population of wide-eyed idealists, they want a population of jaded assholes who are convinced that everyone is lying, any resistance is either a scam or doomed to failure, and nothing can ever get better.
Remember when Lil Nas X beautifully explored his sexuality, seduced and killed the devil to the banger of all time, and instead of cheering on this openly gay and proud Black artist for his artistry and fighting back against respectability politics, suddenly said respectability politics was all the Queerest Place on the Internet cared about? Hm. Wonder what happened there.
Anyway I miss him and hope he's doing better with his mental health 🙏🏾
Like say what you want about "bad queer representation", but this was the song that made me openly and happily accept that I was bisexual. To see him up there Black and beautiful, making music that I love, absolutely killing it? Yeah. You couldn't tell me shit. This man made me proud to be out. "This will make them think we're evil for being gay" hey newsflash dawg-
what the medicine packaging says: "new and improved orange flavour!"
what I expected: orange juice
what I got: the taste of your parents just told you they're getting divorced, and your mum said she was taking you out for ice cream after but she actually took you to the "healthy" frozen yoghurt place and would only let you order the non-dairy orange cream soda flavour
if you vote me for president i vow to make everything the ocean again. no more land only ocean. this will solve all of our problems and replace them with new, far more interesting problems
i wish there was a way to say "you're right, but this is really ineffective and even counterproductive messaging to anyone who doesn't already agree with you" without sounding like an asshole
was explaining vocaloids to my dad the other day and my roommate chipped in with "like ai voices" and you're not wrong but he has no idea what ai is. he uses chatpgt. he doesn't understand how it works and he cannot differentiate genai from other types of ai. Shut up you're making this harder
celestia is such a funny character like she's constantly manipulating twilight and friends to do shit instead of just asking and you could arguably frame that as being bc she's a "god" and pushing fate to her design or whatever, except that she engages with the group like a normal and relatable person, which makes it more like villainous machinations, except 90% of this manipulation goes towards things like "I don't want my party to be boring shit again. put my little country girl blorbos in there with zero prep so they fuck it up bad"
Celestia instantly makes more sense as a character when you ignore the princess stuff and remember that she's a 1000+ years old wizard. Of course she does manipulative trickster stuff to teach moral lessons and/or cause chaos to amuse herself, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course sometimes she's actually socially awkward and bad at personal relationships and has bad ideas that she thought were good that result in her eating shit embarrassing style, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course she lets the aristocrats and nobles run around being assholes she's still running on wizard advisor programming, she's basically trying to merlin the entire upper class of equestria instead of just a king and some knights. "Yeah uuhhh we'll release the incarnation of chaos himself from his ancient prison because we think this shy girl can be friends with him", terrible plan if you're thinking like a ruler, amazing plan if you're thinking like a wizard. Just look at Canterlot 'Castle' for five seconds and ask yourself if that's in any way a castle. No. Wizard tower, yes. Wizard.
white ppl will steal every aesthetic from black culture and then call it something so stupid like bo derek braids instead of box braids or hasbin hotel core instead of black southern dandism. yall will bend over backwards to call my culture barbaric/scary just to drool over the aesthetic the moment no actual black people are involved (21 pilots vs actual reggae). And if ur white/nonblack reading this just reblog. I dont need any comments talking about how not racist you are + speaking up over actual black people.
if you're an adult behaving immaturely i'm not going to "treat you like a child" about it because i have a lot of respect for children as an oppressed and vulnerable class of people. i will however treat you like an embarrassment. which you are being.
someone should do a tv show called Oops! All Filler that's only 8 episodes per season but you have no idea what the actual plot is because it's just all the one off eps you'd normally get in a 22 episode season. the gang going to the beach. the gang getting timewarped back to prom. the gang dealing with a fairytale situation on the starship. everyone in town losing their memory of the fact that the town has slashers. whatever. rampant fan speculation is mostly centered around what the gang gets up to when they're doing their actual jobs because No One Can Fucking Tell
you may think misogyny is good because it is made up of miso, which is delicious, and gyny, which is woman. and girl miso sounds great. but 👆 it is not girl miso
you may think homicide is good because it is made up of homo, which is gay, and cider, which is delicious. And gay cider sounds great. but 👆 it is not gay cider
i do find the rules around clothes fascinating because of how made up it all is. we invented the idea of covering our bodies from the elements because we lack fur like other mammals and then made up all these rules around it and now people will unironically tell you "men cant wear skirts its unnatural" girl none of this is natural. we are born naked and made up the rest as we went along. hope this helps.
seeing joshua colley as orpheus in hadestown has renewed my belief that he would be the perfect will kempen. it is biblically accurate casting and my mind cannot be changed.
