I wanna know where people have lately gotten the audacity to leave comments on fanfics talking about how much the fanfic sucked and negatively critiquing an author's fic like it's a published book review.
It pisses me off cause I've seen authors abandoned or delete their fics because of this.
You're getting fanfics for FREE! No one asked for your opinion.
I hope y'all know as authors we get email notifications when you comment so we see EVERY comment that's been left.
We also can see the negative reviews you leave when you bookmark our fics
when did it become so hard to be kind (especially without expecting something in return)
love this genre of post
what I love about this is that it indicates that people are way more open to experimentation in filmmaking than the industry thinks
When we saw the Barbie movie for the first time, the entire opening sequence with the little girls and dolls was completely silent and I was like ‘oh damn this is awesome what an intriguing start to a movie like this!’
Then someone in the audience was like ‘there’s supposed to be sound….’ and then the theater started the movie over and it worked and honestly I was really disappointed. I liked the silent version way better.
"it started with will it should end with him!"
actually it started with will dissappearing so it should end with him finding himself.

SO CUTE!!
Hi hi! I hope you're having a good day so far! 😊 I have been super appreciating seeing you creating site skins and I saw you said you were self taught. I wanted to ask if you might share some of the resources you've found helpful in learning to make them. I've gone through the posts ao3 has in the FAQ and I have got some limited experience with html from the myspace/livejournal/early tumblr days (though it's been a while since I used them and am definitely rusty lol) so I got a grasp on basics. I can figure out how to make changes like color and font and padding and etc, but where I've been struggling is trying to figure out what the available selectors are and what they control. Like .workskin and .bookmarks. I've tried to find something like a glossary or list of what's available to mess with and I've tried just going through other people's skins to see what I can decipher, but it's definitely been a struggle to process and understand working that way. Any pointers or resource suggestions you might have are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
My main resource for the CSS code skills is W3Schools.com. The tutorials are mostly easy to follow, and most of them have an option where you can run their code and then modify it to run your own version.
If I can't find what I need there then I just google "CSS drop cap" or whatever I'm trying to do and something usually pops on StackOverflow or CSS Tricks.
As for the selectors, that's where you want to be on a computer instead of a mobile device so that you can use your browser's Inspect feature. Right click on the page you want to look at and this menu pops up. You can choose Inspect down there near the bottom.
Using a cut because of length and screenshots.
Ahh thank you so much this is super super helpful!!
Also I'm gonna add this for other people's reference: if you're trying to access Inspect on a mobile browser (most mobile browsers don't have it generally as an option) I found a way to access it in a StackExchange post here! Basically you make a bookmark where the URL link is a line of code from the link, name it "Inspect" so you can find it easy, and then when you're on a site you wanna inspect you just open that Inspect bookmark. The site won't change and you won't leave the page but you'll now see a lil cog icon in the bottom right corner pop up. Tap that and there's your inspect tool! Works exactly like it does on desktop as far as I can tell!
Why do the "let dudes be friends" ppl only ever say that about the gayest motherfuckers who have ever walked the earth??? So many good examples and good representation of dudes being pals, but you have to say this shit about the two men who stare at each other's lips for a living and clearly dream about each other at night???
LET THEM DATE AND KISS
I think Merthur is the ultimate 'who fell first, who fell harder' debate cuz on the surface it's easy. Merlin fell first, he didn't hesitate to show everyone his loyalty and devotion to Arthur from very early on. Meanwhile Arthur was closed of at the beginning but with time is not only willing to risk everything for Merlin but also not even trying to hide it.
And those are valid points. BUT.
In truth Merlin thought of Arthur as a complete ass in the beginning while Arthur was intrigued from the first meeting. That boy might've not known what he was feeling but he was down bad. And sure he hid how much he cared in the first season or so but when you think about them in the actual context of master and servant? The fact that he not only didn't immediately fire him when, yk, Merlin obviously didn't know what he was doing but even rehired him? Yup that shows a lot.
Meanwhile I don't think we even need to talk about Merlin. He started out his let's protect Arthur quest out of duty(-ish) and because of his kindness. Because he wanted a purpose and was told it was this. But with time he got to see who Arthur really was and idk what to tell you, my guy literally devoted his whole life to Arthur. By the end he was willing to quite literally lose everything else before he lost Arthur. It wasn't even about destiny anymore.
So yeah. Arthur fell first. And he did fall hard. But Merlin is unmatched in pure devotion.
(although you could ofc make the point they both fell from the start, and the both fell rly fucking hard)
No-Google (fan)fic writing
After this post about Google automatically enrolling everyone into their AI program (including reading Google docs), I realised that many people may not be aware that there are actually very, very good alternatives to using Google docs – although what they can do for you varies.
So, since I’ve over the years tested quite a lot of different applications for usefulness in writing fanfic, I thought I’d share some of my experiences here. The link list below will be expanded as I continue writing more pieces, so keep checking here.
Part 1: LibreOffice Writer
Part 2: Zettelkasten
Part 3: LaTeχ
Part 4: Markdown
Part 5: Obsidian
Note: I updated some of the posts with screenshots of the interfaces for illustration purposes. You might want to reblog those again.
Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.
omg psa
The Legend of Korra ended with Korra and Asami holding hands so Arcane could have Caitlyn and Vi go absolutely feral in a jail cell today
What a difference 10 years of representation makes
tlok you could never make me hate you🫶
this happens in Shadowhunters too loll
BBC Merlin (2008-2012) trending again as it does a few times every year, NBC Hannibal (2013-2015) trending once again as it does every year, Hilson (ship name for Dr. Gregory House and Dr. James Wilson) from Fox's House (2004-2012) trending in Tumblrs House Renaissance
It is March 2025 for those without timestamps on.
Truly modern TV has nothing on whatever the fuck they put in 2000's and 2010s homoerotic television named after one of the main characters

QUEER CINEMA NEVER DIES
rewatching og skam s2 and being reminded of the "boycott Israel" sticker outside eskild's door in s2, oh skam has ALWAYS been that girl!! <33
I am in love w the way pre 2000s films have that hazy feel to them. hd honestly kills the vibe
I think that’s one of the reasons why “period” media that’s marketed off the Aesthetic sometimes bothers me.......like they get the music, the clothing, the cars......and yet it always feels like something is missing
like,
vs
or even compare the early x files to the reboot
something is just lost with the crispness
someone in the tags said early spn vs new supernatural and tbh 100% yes !!
vs
I never realized how much I missed the grainy undersaturated filing ...... “good lighting” and sharpness strike again
Seasons 1-3 were shot on 35mm film
4-15 were all shot on digital cameras, a change that the network insisted on
Yeah the exact thing that changed is that all the old stuff was recorded on film and all the new stuff was recorded on digital media.
i was going to say the film thing and the someone brought up supernatural and i was like "nah" and then @aphony-cree out here dropping that bomb.... in *2005,* to *2008?* there was a show shooting on film???? god you guys MOST shows went though this transition in the 90s how the fuck was SPN on FILM
In the 2000s dramatic shows had a good shot of convincing networks to let them use film. The network still had film cameras they’d bought and maybe hadn’t gotten enough use out of before the switch to digital. Most dramas can’t be shot entirely in the studio, they need to go on location, so it made sense to let them use the older cameras while the new expensive digital cameras stayed in the studio where they were safer
Supernatural wanted the 35mm film aesthetic and hated when they were forced to switch to digital
They just recently released a 4K version of Lord of the Rings and they’re so Crisp. None of those soft fantasy vibes
one of my least favorite things about these 4k updates to films (especially ones that used actual film) is that they also go and try to do color correction. like there’s a REASON that some scenes are heavily blue saturated. that wasn’t purely an effect of using film, but also a choice during the editing process. color is just as important to a movie as anything else.
it’s the exact reason why the matrix was shot with blue heavily filtered out to give that greenish-gray appearance, which added to the feel for a grungey dystopian machine-ruled future. The 4k version of it still has that there for the most part, but you can tell they did some color correction too and it throws off the entire vibe.
not to mention 4k updates of older movies REALLY makes the CGI stand out in a bad way and often times reveals imperfections in makeup that they knew, at the time, wouldn’t be noticed once everything was edited and it hit the big screens.
