I’ve been thinking a lot about To Kill The King 1x12 lately and how it established, early on, that Gwen and Morgana were narrative foils.

This would’ve been a fanvid if I had the time or less than 10 Merlin-related wips lol so it gets a meta post instead <3

I know this has been said 1000 times before but man the lamia episode is one of the most blatant examples of Merlin being queer. What possible other explanation could there be for all the men except Merlin to fall under the seductive powers of a beautiful female entity besides Merlin not being into women?? “It’s be ages he’s a warlock!” Yeah a warlock who is gay.

My favorite thing about Merthur is that they did a speedrun of enemies to lovers. Arthur and Merlin meet, hate each other for one episode, have a tense rivalry for two more episodes, and then immediately almost die for each other and spend four and a half seasons being hopelessly in love. It’s so fucking funny

I was rewatching sword in the stone pt 1 for shits and giggles (cause I remembered simpleton Arthur and thought the ep would be hilarious. spoiler alert: I WAS WRONG 😭)

and my God, my heart hurts at the look on Arthur's face when they're taking him brainwashed and away from Camelot.

No will, no memories, no sense of "himself" and still he yearns for Camelot 😭 at his core he is king. you can take everything away from him but his love for his kingdom and people is etched in his blood and bone

Arthur was about 20-21 at the start of the series, and you're telling me he was the best swordsman in the entire kingdom? That he entered every tournament with men much older than him, and was undefeated every time, for years? And when he was younger, he led a chase and massacre (and I don't think that was the only time) a community of druids?

Arthur was literally raised to be the best hunter, the ideal soldier of all time, yet he still tried to persuade his father to kill people, and tried to avoid to kill ppl everytime. Considering all this, it's no surprise how emotionally constipated he is, and it's actually a bit of a surprise that both he and Morgana haven't had a fight over sleeping potions.
