I loved coming up with silly details like the borders matching the characters, slapping arrows on all the warriors and Xar's failure to do his laces properly. The armour is also functional and designed based on how rich/important each character is

I just found out that Gumroad now requires a minimum of $100 in earnings before they pay you. I used it as a site for people to download my digital files for free?
All of my downloads, the 12 httyd books bookmarks, Never and Forever printables and the iwtv dust jackets are now on payhip instead. The links on the tumblr posts are updated, but old reblogs might refer to my now deleted gumroad pages.

I've been thinking about how I noticed Snotlout seems to have a very particularly strong vitriol for Camicazi despite not knowing her that well and barely interacting with her and her being four years younger. Like he utterly detests her, it's very noticeable. He taunts Hiccup and Fishlegs by telling them how he's hoping they'll finding her corpse in the water, and in Betray he can't mention her without describing how awful she is (the "she's just a bog-burglar" was to try to push Hiccup and Fishlegs away, what I'm referring to is the "and even rescue that horrible little bog-burglar Camicazi" when he was trying to convince them to trust him). I was thinking there are several reasons: The first is obvious, although they don't interact with each other all their interactions are negative, and Camicazi is annoying in general. The first time they met (at least on page) was when Camicazi told FISHLEGS to push Snotlout into the ocean while everyone was cheering for Snotlout. Snotlout craves the attention and love he was given by the tribe when he was the only heir as a toddler (I think they seriously thought Snotlout would be the heir at the time, the phrase "they so wanted a child" makes me think Valhallarama and Stoick were having fertility issues so I think everyone treated Snotlout as heir), and he was enjoying being cheered for. Camicazi utterly ruined this moment for him, by getting Fishlegs of all people to push him. Additionally the dragons awaking at the beginning of Betray was fully Camicazi's fault for refusing to speak quietly, he was justified in being angry at her there. It's just that his anger becomes hypocritical when he hands her over to her enemies despite her helping to save him. The second reason is what Camicazi represents. Camicazi is the heir of another tribe and she absolutely ADORES Hiccup. Snotlout wants everyone to see how weak and ridiculous Hiccup is, and how Snotlout should obviously be the heir. The future Chieftan of a nearby highly renowned tribe thinking Hiccup is the coolest thing in the world and following him around everywhere like a love sick puppy-dog is like a death knell in Hiccup being further cemented as the Heir of the Hairy Hooligans (Thuggery's similar treatment of Hiccup being another similar death knell which I think made the Camicazi thing feel even WORSE, I bet Snotlout hated Thuggary tons too). Camicazi even treats Hiccup as her superior or liege in many ways (not as in she thinks he's better than her, she obviously thinks she's the best, but there is a pretty clear leader-follower relationship between them) which I always think would've had interesting implications for future politics lol (if like everything after book 5 didn't happen so Hiccup didn't end up as her legal liege). Camicazi also represents the CHANGE that Snotlout hates so much, and it is change brought about by Hiccup in addition. The Bog-burglars and Hooligans have been enemies for over a century, and the phrase "The only good bog-burglar/hooligan is a dead bog-burglar/hooligan" was a common saying and taught to their children. But Hiccup and Camicazi changed that in the blink of an eye and now the two tribes have this Gondor-Rohan like allyship/friendship. Snotlout gives this as his reason for hoping Camicazi would turn up dead in book 8, so this one is definitely canon.
A possible fourth/adding onto the second: Camicazi is competent. She is in every way the model viking Snotlout is (except for being short) and therefore should be like him. The world of the archipelago, with all its violence, is built for kids like Snotlout and Camicazi to thrive and for them to stomp on weaklings!The fact that Camicazi doesn't is an uncomfortable mirror to Snotlout's own way of seeing things. Here is someone who by all means should fit perfectly into life as it is! But she doesn't!
And that challenges his idea of 'how things should be,' because Wanderers, Fishlegs and Hiccup are easy to dismiss with "They're against me because they are weak and mad that I am superior to them," he can do no such thing to Camicazi. He cannot brush her off as someone who is treated unfairly like his superior like Hiccup, she is someone who does all the rules of the Archipelago right and STILL chooses to like Hiccup and Fishlegs. Camicazi challenges Snotlout's belief that the competent strong Vikings don't bother with the runts. The fact that she does shows him that this is a choice instead of something 'natural,' and that he is consciously not making that choice.
The odds of a tumblr post abt fandom 1 breaking containment and being recognised by someone I know from fandom 2 (while my blog is dedicated to a third unrelated fandom) are low but never zero

So many of Cressida Cowell’s main characters are either explicitly or implicitly (read: I headcanon them as) disabled and I love that for them.
Hiccup may or may not be Literally Autistic in my headcanons (haven’t decided yet) but his experiences are very typical of autistic kids and his story resonates with me a lot.
Camicazi is so obviously ADHD to me.
Fishlegs is Disabilities Georg.
Xar has no magic in a society built on magic, which counts as a fantastical disability in my books.
Wish is canonically dyslexic and also uses an eyepatch
Bodkin has some form of narcolepsy that only shows up in extreme danger.
K2 wears glasses and has amblyopia which he is working to correct.

no but to think that book hiccup wasn't even meant to be born in the first place? that excellinor the witch told to humungously hotshot that he was meant to marry valhallarama coz apparently the witch was afraid that he could be the king of pirates and she wanted for her son alvin to become the king so she told that humungous was meant to be together with valhallarama? but old wrinkly told humungous that he has to get the firestone from lava-lout island to prove his love so he sent humungous to his quest and humungous ended up imprisoned for 15 years so valhallarama ended up marrying stoick the vast and they had hiccup?? who, altho he didn't want to, started a massive war with dragons BUT was the only viking possible to stop that war?? AND HE STARTED THE WAR BY BEING KIND AND SETTING FURIOUS FREE AND ENDED IT BY STILL BEING KIND AND TREATING FURIOUS AS EQUAL????? HELLO???????
