Jhonen Vasquez isn't thrilled with Zim getting a new origin story.

IGN can exclusively reveal that BOOM! Studios has acquired the publishing rights for Invader Zim, and it has plans to "bring classic stories

some more sources on this. it seems like its just the comics, not the show at least. they sound like they are going to reprint the original oni comics AND write/draw new ones. which i guess JV was not made aware of which is a huge redflag/dick move imo not to have the og creators involved at all. but it was Paramount that didn't inform them, not Boom Studios which I'm not super familiar with their work.

TBH I am half excited, half very dreading this. feels super weird that the og creators aren't involved at all, almost like a betrayal.....but it could be good/cool to get fresh ideas and art styles OR could be a disaster that completely misses the entire spirit/vibes of the originals and flanderizes the concept even more than Enter the Florpus did.

could be great and revitalize the fandom or it be horrible and completely misunderstand what made IZ so great. i guess we'll just wait and see.

👽🌀:: the alien is obvious, it's supposed to represent zim, and the cyclone emoji (or, how i like to call it, the spiral emoji) i feel just represents dib in it's existing manner. he's a blue whirlwind of paranormal stuff okay??? do we see my vision???

🛸🌌 :: this one is pretty,, the ufo is obviously for zim and the stars are supposed to represent dib again, but rather the scrapped opening for etf where dib and professor membrane are stargazing together <3 it also represents how he was listening in on the irkens in "The Nightmare Begins" in the dark beneath the stars.

🔭☄:: this one has to be my favorite with its references to iz media. the telescope is supposed to represent dib, of course, there's no explanation needed to that, and the comet is supposed to resemble mars (since there is no mars emoji). why mars? think back to battle of the planets when zim took control of mars of course!! im so smart
