Hola, could you do a Calum x Reader is Puerto Rican, where they are in getting to know each other and Reader start speaking Spanish. Please & Thank You.! -D98
this is kinda shitty considering it took this long to write but i tried my best! i’ve been studying spanish for like 6 years and the half of it is still a mistery to me. nonetheless, thanks for requesting hun and espero que les guste! (if something’s wrong pls let me know!)
Calum was purely fascinated by it, to put it simply; the way in which, from time to time, the words would slip out and you wouldn’t notice until people started to look at you slightly confused. You’d blush, say sorry, and then repeat in English. He didn’t think you should apologize, the way the words slipped from your lips was mesmerizing to him. You hadn’t known each other for long, just a couple of months, but you had Calum hanging from every word you said.
“Cal, ¿puedes pasarme la sal, porfa?” you and him were over at your place and he’d offered to help in the kitchen. Busy with stirring, you hadn’t noticed how you’d asked the simple question in your mother tongue. Calum didn’t budge, however, and handed the salt over with a soft smile.
“Gracias” you smiled back, taking the salt shaker from him, this time noticing the slip up. “Thanks” you quickly added, your cheeks dusted in pink.
He just smiled wider, winking. “De nada” His high school level Spanish was a little rusty, but he tried nonetheless.
“Y yo que pensaba solo supieras decir que te llamas Calum y eres australiano” you laughed, genuinely surprised he knew more than saying he was Calum from Australia.
“Estoy practicando” he shrugged, going back to cutting his vegetables.
“Me pregunto por qué” you teased, still looking as he nonchalantly kept up with his work. You saw him lifting a brow, finally looking at you.
“Para quién” he shot you a Cheshire cat like grin, finally handing you the plate with the cut vegetables.
You took it, wide, genuine smile on your lips. “Thank you”
The day went on like this, you teaching him new words he didn’t know how to say and him asking you about your favorite memories from childhood and Puerto Rico.
You found it a little funny how he tried his best to roll the r’s and miserably failed everytime, just how he found entrancing every little word you said in Spanish.
“Say it again” he pouted, his puppy eyes making it hard to say no.
“It’s literally just a word!” you reasoned, feeling your resolution fading the more you looked at his big brown eyes.
“But you say it so much better than me”
You rolled your eyes, blushing at the way he was looking at you; and you knew in that moment that his pleading eyes would win against your reservations every time.
