Isekai where the main character is just, incredibly stoked to be there.

It's not even that the setting or scenario is especially appealing, not like, incel transmigrates into man who has harem pheromones or lifelong weakling becomes the demon queen or etc, MC is thrilled because five minutes ago they were dead and for several years before that they were terminally ill and now they're not either of those things.

Local villagers are like, please help us the dark magic blight is killing our crops and poisoning our wells, and MC is just like, yeah sure I'll help! I love wells! The equivalent of Antarctic research stations but in fantasy worlds like for example there’s an evil terrible region of rotting and nightmares but like nine miles from the edge there’s a very ugly little building optimistically called Observation Center 1 and it’s full of normal humans just vibing. for like 90% of the year they can’t leave because that’s Death Fog Season but it balances out because they can study the ghost migrations and also hear the whalesong-like calls of The Unspeakable Ones asking you to come outside for a game of checkers but thankfully the checkers set is kept locked up to slow down anyone that gets tempted

truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if she’s perhaps worried she’s a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and that’s enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said she’s here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then she’ll make another one. I said “isn’t it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?” and she just looked at me funny and said “what do you mean? The whole world was here, waiting”. Some people, I tell you.

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

i also think that it would be wonderfully ironic if those who sought the fame and glory of the title of 'dragonslayer' only ended up with the bitter, enduring reminder of the devastation they're responsible for. this is not a place of honor. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here.

Some day I'm going to run a trad fantasy dungeon crawler campaign where instead of unbroken ten-thousand-year dynasties, every time the player characters need to interact with the nobility, etc. I use a set of lookup tables to randomly generate the kingdom's current political situation. If the new results are irreconcilable with the old, there was a revolution while they were down in the dungeon and they didn't notice.

Fascinated by the idea that having a player character with a noble backstory accelerates the pace of political turmoil because each downtime counts as a separate instance of "interacting with nobility".

I absolutely love spec bio, I’ve got a campaign that I’m working on sporadically for dnd or pathfinder and so far it’s got no plot only spec bio.

I was working on my Dragonborn society and I think I got to the point where I’m going to have to homebrew my own ancestry instead - esp since there isn’t a Dragonborn ancestry for pathfinder 2e.

Any pointers for homebrew pathfinder?

I used to post art stuff to instagram but I kind of hate using it so I think I’ll start posting it here every once in a while.

This was one of my pathfinder characters, a champion of the giant disembodied hand that would pluck our characters out of the narrative if their playing couldn’t join that day. I created a whole set of edicts and antithesis for it and then I only actually got to play her for like two sessions.

Desdemona Nalo’mli is an elf fighter. The world we’re playing in is heavily dragon age inspired, so they have elven tattoos from that game.

I love giving my characters dark sclera eyes, it just feels right.

I’m working on making the whole pines family into dnd characters (plus maybe other characters if people want?). I’m aging the twins up and imagining the whole family as a dnd party.

Dipper was by far the easiest to fantasy-ify his outfit, stay tuned for Mabel next!

Mabel Pines, halfling bard

The next in my gravity falls dnd series! No I will not be taking criticism on my class choice for Mabel; a bards main ability is to *inspire* and I think that’s Mabel to the core.

Mabel wasn’t as simple as dipper to make a fantasy outfit for but I think I kept all the key pieces that make her Mabel.
