Hey random passerbys, Have you heard about hit game Mesmalie? Well now you have!!!! You should go buy it, Especially since its on sale until the 16th of July. Then you go and play it to 100%. This game is so amazing and charming with its writing, art style, and music!
Anyways!!! Im going to yap below the line, Expect spoilers.
So you've chosen to read my ramblings, Thank you humbly.
First of all, I need to put it all on the table. I am the guy who is obsessed with eye based iconography and themes so naturally I was immediately drawn in. Second of all, I am the guy who is obsessed with the wacky, esoteric, eccentric characters so naturally I was once again drawn in.
Anyways, I was instantly enamored with this game and by extension Mesmer. I know she's in a 4 month long manic episode so she isn't *normally* like this but it was such a fun experience interacting with her even if I did accidentally blow her head off a few times with miss clicks... and curiosity.
I will admit I expected more sinister intentions at first, like the ritual actually only makes ONE witch super powerful sacrificing the others in the process because I was under the assumption she wasn't actually a witch at all but *really* wanted to be one. But as I went along the story you can feel just how much she really cares and then obviously you find out what her plan really is.
You know what scene really had me enthralled? The scene right after you get pelted with bottles and she takes you inside and stitches up your arm. The glimpse of her locked in and focused contrasted to her outburst and previous behavior made it all the more impactful for me. It felt like a brief glimpse past it all.
Anyways this sorta ended up with me yapping about Mesmer, Which I have a lot more to say about her. I'll wrap this up with some stuff I liked about the gameplay.
For starters, Save files are for suckers, having each section be able to be loaded with decisions carrying over was such a fun and convenient mechanic that it made it so much easier to go through and 100% the game.
Second, I adore the sheer diversity of choice and things to find and explore. None of which ever feel like you get locked out of because it's so easy to go back and do things in a different order or slightly alter your choices.
I also really liked the minigames even if I struggled a lot to get 1k points in the Berry bursting one. The final confrontation was also really really well done.
I'll probably add more to this later because my thoughts are scattered but I'll leave it at this for now. The game is amazing and I hope to eventually see more from Orbitaldot.
Also hi, If you're reading this Orbitaldot. I'm on my hands and knee's begging for epilogue content. You should DM me specifically to tell me what MC and Mes' reunion would go like when they're both more actualized versions of themselves as witches and as people. /hj
