danny bringing mike in because cmon richie we played together you clearly still like hockey and have opinions on how to improve the flyers come join! and mike begrudgingly comes in as an advisor, just a minor role he doesn’t want anything too big. but natural leadership never goes away and all the players really like speaking and learning from him. and tension builds between him and tocchet. and we all cheered
the thing about trevor. and i mean this so sincerely. is that if you get it you will never stop getting it. once you are attuned to the frequency it never leaves you. and if you dont get it by now then there is no point trying because you never will. and i feel sorry for you but you have no one to blame but yourself
trevor that one friend that people need to keep an eye out for when going out because he'll go dead silent when he's really drunk and so it's easy to lose track of him until someone is like wait where's trevor and they have to circle back and he's like sitting on the curb arm wrapped around a random stranger smiling at nothing and the stranger is like are these your friends and he just nods and as they walk back he starts talking again like incoherent rambling and everyone is like oh fuck oh fuck it's coming because that means he's hit the stage of no return and is going to be yakking in the next five minutes

RPF entirely aside, this generation of star NHL players very publicly having the kind of close, meaningful relationships that they do and being allowed to be human is so important to me and so important to this lowkey cesspool of a sport improving.
There is absolutely a time not that long ago when Will and Mack would have shut down their public interactions and Seth Jarvis' buddies would have been a novelty that was treated as a semi-joke and not a genuinely sweet human interest story during the Finals. Matthew Schaefer being openly still affected by his mom's death would have made him soft.
I've been a hockey fan for a long ass time and while the Carter Hart of it all is very unfortunately still alive and well, I can't ignore that the vibes are getting very different now in a way that means a lot to me.
Trevor, Dixie, Jamie, and Kelsey - wtf is going on, a primer
this is my most speculative primer yet, but i also have citations and photos, so please come along for the narative. it didn't start with the trade but it did get way more insane and messy after it.
Stagecoach
This is the second year TZJD have attended Stagecoach (country music festival in CA). It’s a three day festival and they meet Kelsey and Brynn (slightly famous because of Dance Moms) on day three.

Dixie D’Amelio is an LA-based influencer, originally from Connecticut, who moved to LA to pursue her sister Chali’s dream of being a Tiktok influencer. The family now has a reality show (you can imagine the trauma). In the first season of her reality show she spoke about struggling with having her relationship (with now ex-Noah Beck) in the public eye and feeling judged for how she expressed affection. She records music and loves her dogs. One of her best friends, Kate Tifford, is dating Alex Turcotte.

In conclusion, it is very fun to read between the lines. Jamie is playing with fire, with both Valentines Day and the Stadium Series game coming up, and Kelsey seems way out of her depth. To me, it's a situationship of the ages - congrats to them both for acting their age while Jamie also speed runs to the safe happy ring by 23 future NHLers love. We love a wildcard.
And for Trevor and Dixie, they're approaching a year together. There's debate if Trevor played his last game as a Duck and if they will make an appearance on her family's reality show.
Who knows where this will go but I think it's fun to be along for the ride

I think about Will and his all American aesthetic, his fourth of July's, his USA bandana and his old vintage cars, so proud. And then I think of the single repost when the USA won the gold, not even liking the official Instagram post. I think of him very neutrally answering reporters questions about him "waking the house up from celebrating", I think of him liking all of Mack's Canada posts, and I sigh.
